Fantasy Football Magnified

OK, so week 10 was something strange.

  • Saquon Barkley rushed 13 times for 1 yard
  • Kirk Cousins didn’t choke under the bright lights versus a tough opponent
  • A rookie kicker became both the hero and the villain in the span of 15 minutes on Monday Night Football
  • Brian Hill is poised to become a thing in Atlanta
  • David Johnson…..I don’t even know where to START with you

That being said there were definitely some performances that are worthy of discussion in this week’s 4-EYED OBSERVATIONS. The players listed below are definitely those that not only had impressive outings in week 10 but also can provide upside for you going forward the final three weeks of the regular fantasy football season…which is a good thing because we’re coming down the home stretch of the fantasy football season and the need for victories is magnified each week that goes by.

So without further adieu, let’s get things started!

Quarterback: Derek Carr willed his team to victory in real football and can do the same for you in fantasy football over the next three weeks

While his 13.1 fantasy point performance wasn’t something to boast about, Derek Carr displayed something that stats cannot identify. In this case, in Thursday night’s performance, Carr displayed extreme confidence. He didn’t force anything that wasn’t there and made good decisions in a tough divisional matchup in primetime. He wasn’t too big for the moment and it showed.

Over the past quarter of the season, he’s averaged 17.95 fantasy points per game and with his upcoming schedule over the next three weeks facing Bengals, Jets, and Chiefs Derek Carr can be a quarterback you can ride with through the remainder of the regular fantasy football season.

Running Back: Brian Hill is in a position to help rescue your fantasy football team as you navigate the final bye weeks this season

Coming in for an injured Devonta Freeman, Brian Hill on 20 attempts put up 61 rushing yards, 1 reception and 1 receiving touchdown. With Freeman out of action for the next few weeks and Ito Smith being placed on IR, Hill should receive a majority of rushing volume on an offense that will be facing Carolina (18th ranked run defense), Tampa Bay (7th ranked run defense), and a New Orleans team that despite being the 3rd ranked run defense gave up decent fantasy production to Hill, both on the ground and through the air. He’s definitely a must start in week 11 and worthy of flex consideration in weeks 12 & 13.

Wide Receiver: Jamison Crowder is someone you can trust rest of the regular fantasy football season

On Sunday against one of the worst pass coverage units in the NFL, Jamison Crowder delivered posting 5 receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. When facing poor defenses the past two weeks Crowder has averaged 18.2 fantasy points per game the last two weeks. Most importantly, Sam Darnold TRUSTS Crowder to make plays. Next up, is his old team the Washington Redskins which ranks 22nd in defensive coverage. He’s another must start in week 11 and by the look of his opponents over the next two weeks (Oakland and Cincinnatti) he’s pretty much someone you can leave in your lineup the rest of the regular season.

Tight End: Jacob Hollister is the new Will Dissly in Seattle….which means stash him on your bench ASAP

Over the past two weeks receiving volume has increased for Jacob Hollister. He ranked 3rd in week 10 in targets in the redzone among all tight ends and 4th in fantasy points scored with 16.2. Over the past two weeks, he’s averaged 17.7 fantasy points per game and seeing as how Russell Wilson has shown a propensity to keep his tight ends heavily involved in the receiving game Hollister could be a rare fantasy football gold nugget that can help you get over the hump the remainder of the regular season. With the Seahawks on their bye week go snag Hollister off the waiver wire if you haven’t already.

Defensive Back: Taylor Rapp is still widely available in IDP leagues…go get him

Look I mentioned him last week in him being a strong safety that has been playing well as of late, yet given his 4.7% ownership in ESPN IDP leagues CLEARLY you all haven’t been listening. Over the past four weeks, he’s averaged 8.3 total tackles per game and using a balanced IDP scoring rubric has averaged 12.1 fantasy points per game. Pick him up and start him…immediately

Defensive Lineman: Tanoh Kpassagnon will look to fill a big void at defensive end in Kansas City

Will Emmanuel Ogbah being placed on IR and Alex Okafor still working his way back from injury, Tanoh Kpassagnon has an opportunity to pay dividends for fantasy managers the remainder of the regular season. While he didn’t have a great showing on Sunday he is the 3rd best option, because of opportunity, along that defensive line which means teams will likely be running in his direction which makes him more likely to accumulate higher tackles and stuffs than his counterparts. Stash him this week if you have the bench space.

Linebacker: James Burgess has been playing lights out for the Jets recently and should be added to your roster immediately

James Burgess did it all on Sunday with 7 total tackles, 0.5 stuffs, 0.5 sacks, a quarterback hit, and pass defensed. He led the entire Jets linebacking corp in production and with Blake Cashman now on IR look for Burgess to become the #TackleMachine for Gang Green going forward this season. Due to sheer potential tackle volume he should be rostered on your team.
