The IDP Roundup from Week 13 (2023)
Follow @natemarcum
What’s up, fellow IDP degenerates! I have a brand new series that I will be bringing you all each week called the IDP Roundup!
Looking at the box scores each week has been adequate for many to stay competitive in the IDP streets, but how do you gain a noticeable edge? That is the goal of this article. I want to dig deep into each game and find stats, notes, injuries, trends, etc., all with the intention of giving the tools to be proactive in your approach.
Which players are under-appreciated and deserve another chance? Which teams are putting their players in a better position to score fantasy points? Who is the next big waiver wire add that you can get a week earlier than the competition?
Welcome to The IDP Roundup from Week 13 (2023).
SEA @ DAL
- Jordyn Brooks had to leave the game early, and did not return. The ankle injury doesn’t appear serious, but it is worth monitoring. Devin Bush filled in for Brooks and would be a deep league option if Brooks is out for Week 14
- Tariq Woolen was back in Pete Carrol’s good graces, moving Devon Witherspoon back to the slot, which is great news for his fantasy value.
- Markquese Bell led all LBs in snaps for Week 13. With the Eagles signing Shaq Leonard, Bell remains in the “rosterable” zone. If you are lucky enough to have him in Sleeper leagues, where he is DB eligible, keep plugging him in!
- Jayron Kearse is essentially relegated to sub-package duty and can be dropped in all formats (he should have already been).
ATL @ NYJ
- Nate Landman left the game with a knee injury. HC Arthur Smith has said it is not “long term”, but you should look elsewhere for Week 14.
- The Falcons had deployed a 3-safety set at a pretty high clip in Week 13. Was this as a result of the Landman loss? Either way, it led to Richie Grant seeing a 78% snap share and DeMarcco Hellams at 73.5%.
- Bryce Huff’s incredible string of QB pressures has really slowed down as of late. He now has only 1 pressure in three of the last four games.
- Jermaine Johnson did record six pressures and could be a fringe player going forward with “plus” matchups against Houston, Washington, and Cleveland to conclude the season.
ARI @ PIT
- Josh Woods has filled in admirably for Kyzir White. Woods played 99% of the snaps, recording 11 tackles and one TFL. The Cardinals are on a BYE in Week 14 but have SF, CHI, and PHI to finish the season.
- Elandon Roberts left Week 13 early with a groin injury and has said himself that he is doubtful for Thursday’s game.
- Blake Martinez and Myles Jack have both been practicing with their sights set on the MLB role for PIT.
IND @ TEN
- Samson Ebukam continues the trend of solid play and opposing Edge Rushers taking advantage of the Titans’ O-Line. Ebukam had six pressures and now has four sacks, ten tackles (2 TFL), and two forced fumbles over the past two weeks.
- Jeffrey Simmons was injured in Week 13 and looks to miss a few weeks with a knee injury.
- K’Von Wallace continues to see heavy snaps, but this week, it was not as box-heavy. Wallace saw 70% of the snaps at FS. Maybe a byproduct of the game, but Amani Hooker did see a heavy box snap workload.
DEN @ HST
- P.J. Locke has been mentioned for a few weeks now in this series and has really stepped up nicely in Jackson’s absence. Locke has eight tackles (2 TFLs) and a sack in Week 13. Over the past two weeks, he has 15 tackles, two sacks, two QB hits, and a forced fumble.
- Will Anderson had an incredible Week 13! He registered his third game of the season with seven pressures or more! Anderson and the Texans will face the Jets, Titans, Browns, and Titans to finish the season. If you have any way to get Anderson, make it a priority.
- Blake Cashman led the Texans with the expected workload (100%). Denzel Perryman returned and split duties with Christian Harris, both seeing roughly 60% of the snaps.
MIA @ WSH
- Jerome Baker is week to week with an MCL sprain. The Dolphins are bringing in Rueben Foster and have Duke Riley to potentially fill some of the snaps lost.
- Duke Riley, filling in for an injured Jerome Baker, finished the game with seven tackles and a forced fumble.
LAC @ NE
- Khalil Mack chipped in another two sacks, bringing his total to 15 on the season and leading the NFL.
DET @ NO
- Aiden Hutchinson keeps his strong pass-rush numbers going as he registered a pressure rate of 25%. This marks his 4th game with a 20% pressure-rate or better on the season. On the season, Hutchinson now has 70 pressures, yet only 5.5 sacks.
- With Anzalone out, both Derrick Barnes and Jack Campbell saw similar snap counts. While the production was similar (Barnes-9 tackles/Campbell-8 tackles), Barnes would be my guess for the leader, rest of season.
- Cam Jordan was limited entering Week 13, with speculation that he wouldn’t play at all. Despite being active, it was almost as if he didn’t play anyways, only seeing 29% of snaps.
- Pete Werner’s inactive status paved the way for Nephi Sewell to play the majority of snaps alongside Demario Davis. Sewell paved the way with eight tackles (2 TFLs), and, more importantly, got to play opposite his brother, Penei Sewell. Big day for the Sewell family
CAR @ TB
- While the fantasy production may not have looked like it, Derrick Brown had a historic day. Brown recorded seven pressures, the most of his career.
- Devin White, Lavonte David, and SirVocea Dennis were all inactive for Week 13, which opened up playing time for JJ Russel and KJ Britt. Britt left the game with a back injury, but Russell was able to produce a solid fantasy game (seven tackles, one TFL, one sack). With David and Dennis both expected back, Russell will likely find his way to the bench.
SF @ PHI
- Dre Greenlaw was ejected from the game after exchanging words and a poke to the face of the Eagles security, Dom DiSandro.
- Ji’Ayir Brown once again saw a full workload, with most of the snaps (75%) at Free Safety. Consistency from that level is tough to predict.
- SF generated immense pressure (46) but had little in the way of actual sack production (3).
- Chase Young was held without a tackle or a sack for the 2nd consecutive game but did record seven pressures. Better days are ahead.
- The Eagles signed Shaq Leonard and released Christian Harriss. Leonard was nothing more than a two-down linebacker, which could be his role with the Eagles also.
CLE @ LAR
- Myles Garrett played Week 13 at less than 100%, but still had solid pass-rush metrics (22.6% win-rate). While the metrics were solid, his zero points were the first time in his career he has yet to record a fantasy point in a game.
- Even with Anthony Walker Jr returning to action, it was nice to see Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah still playing 87% of the snaps. Worth noting the rotation of the three linebackers (Walker Jr, JOK, Takitaki) all under 60% of the 3rd/4th down snaps.
- Aaron Donald and Kobie Turner both recorded a win-rate in excess of 20%.
- Donald and Turner both got to the quarterback, and both are in really good spots for the rest of the season. The Rams will get to see both the Commanders and Giants during the fantasy playoffs!
KC @ GB
- Drue Tranquill suffered a concussion in Week 13 and was unable to return.
- Jack Cochrane filled in admirably for Tranquill, recording seven solo tackles and two tackles for loss.
- It’s uncertain if Tranquill will miss Week 14, but regardless, Nick Bolton is set to return from the IR.
- Assuming Nick Bolton does return, he should immediately be reinserted into your lineup.
- Rashan Gary recorded a sack (.5 sack) for the 3rd consecutive game. For the 3rd time in his career, Gary has recorded a sack in three straight games.
- While Gary recorded a sack, he did not have a “win” against his opponent, registering a 0.00% win-rate, marking only the 3rd time since 2020 at 0%.
- With Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford returning to the lineup, it was actually Jonathan Owens who saw the full workload. This is positive news for Owens’ managers and not so much for the Fords’.
CIN @ JAX
- Germaine Pratt played one of his better games of the season, recording 12 tackles (19%). As long as Pratt is seeing 90% of the snaps, he should be in the LB3/LB4 conversation.
- Deciding which Josh Allen is the MVP has been a running joke, but it’s actually a fair conversation. Josh Allen recorded another 1.5 sacks, his 5th time with multiple sacks in a game. Allen now has career-highs in sacks and QB hits, and it won’t be long before he eclipses career-highs in tackles and tackles for loss.
