IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 8 (2023)

IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 8 (2023) | Fantasy In Frames

Welcome to our eighth IDP Waiver Wire article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!

As I did for Week 7, I will use FantasyPros Expert Consensus Rankings to base my weekly recommendations for players to roster. I believe using this method of identifying waiver recommendations will benefit people in newbie leagues all the way through to the more advanced IDP-playing fantasy managers. Here are my IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 8 (2023) recommendations.

Boye Mafe

Week 8 ECR Rankings: DL32

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL17 (11.8 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • Over the past month, Boye Mafe has led all edge rushers for the Seahawks in total pressures and sacks during that time span.
  • In Week 7, he led the team in win rate % and was second in pressure rate, and has been fairly consistent in fantasy production. In other words, he makes for an excellent bye-week fill-in.

Justin Madubuike

Week 8 ECR Rankings: DL25

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL13 (12.5 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • Madubuike leads all defensive linemen on the Ravens in sacks so far this past month.
  • He’s also been showing an increased tackle floor the past couple of weeks, which has coincided with an increase in fantasy production. For people in deep defensive tackle roster-specific leagues, he’s someone you might want to get in on the basement floor with before his tackle floor makes him a viable streaming option from week to week.

Bryce Huff

Week 8 ECR Rankings: DL63

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: On Bye Week

  • The Jets’ rotation of defensive linemen can be an annoying one to predict in terms of who to start in fantasy besides Quinnen Williams. My money is on Bryce Huff.
  • Over the past month, he’s been first on the team in defensive pressures and in sacks (23 and 3, respectively) and has seen a steady increase in pass rush snaps played per game.
  • Again, in deep leagues, he’s someone to pay attention to during the bye weeks.

Drue Tranquill

Week 8 ECR Rankings: LB26

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB32 (11.0 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • As soon as Nick Bolton went out on Sunday due to a wrist injury, Drue Tranquill immediately stepped in. On the season, Tranquill has averaged close to 13 PPG in FantasyPros scoring, his highest-scoring games being when Nick Bolton was out due to injury.
  • If he’s available on your waiver wire, he is a MUST ADD this week.

Oren Burks

Week 8 ECR Rankings: LB97

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB45 (9.0 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • Dre Greenlaw has been battling a slew of injuries the past couple of weeks but still manages to end up playing each week. On the chance that changes, go get Oren Burks!
  • Burks was second on the team in tackle efficiency (21.4% per PFF) this past week and has excellent upside if Greenlaw were to miss any time due to injury.

Bradley Chubb

Week 8 ECR Rankings: LB88/DL14

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB3/DL3 (23.5 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • As I mentioned on our IDP Show, Shoot The Gap, when it comes to edge rushers, I look for players that have a steady and medium tackle floor on top of pressure and sack production. Enter Bradley Chubb.
  • Chubb’s 25% pressure rate on Sunday Night Football led the team, and as long as his tackle floor persists, he should be in the DL1/2 conversation every week.

Rudy Ford

Week 8 ECR Rankings: DB16

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB64 (8.3 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • Ford has had a solid tackle and fantasy PPG floor over the past four games played.
  • While he was mostly in coverage on Sunday, over the past four weeks, he has played closer to the line of scrimmage than any other safety on the team.
  • The way things are looking in Green Bay, you may be seeing that defensive more and more, giving Ford more opportunity and upside for fantasy managers!

Jabrill Peppers

Week 8 ECR Rankings: DB31

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB14 (15.5 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • Dude is a tackle machine. I’ve written about him multiple times, yet I don’t see his rostership percentage elevate across the various fantasy football platforms. Do something about that this week.

Dean Marlowe

Week 8 ECR Rankings: DB66

Week 7’s Fantasy Point Finish: D11 (15.8 Points in FantasyPros Scoring)

  • While playing mostly at Free Safety, Marlowe has been targeted quite often in coverage and has had a solid tackle floor when being targeted.
  • Keep an eye out for matchups in which the Chargers face high-volume passing offenses, and insert Marlowe into your DB spot that week!
