Today, in the first of our 2024 Rookie Profiles, we’ll be talking about tight end, Ben Sinnott!
Player Overview
Kansas State Tight End Ben Sinnott, a player unknown to most in January of this season, is going to be a household name from here on out after being drafted in the second round to the Washington Commanders.
Rookie Summary
Let’s unpack Sinnott’s game. He’s versatile and able to handle different positions with ease. But don’t expect him to be the fastest guy on the field; he’s more about consistency, like your trusty old sedan. When it comes to catching, he’s not flashy, but he’s a solid blocker you can rely on. Overall, consider Sinnott your dependable workhorse – versatile, sure, but not flashy.
Now, onto his skills. He transitions smoothly between positions, showing agility and adaptability. While he may not burst off the line like lightning, he’s got some smart passing options. And although he won’t be breaking records for yards after the catch, he’s reliable on those straight-line routes. Plus, he holds his own in blocking, especially when he’s on the move. Just remember that his physical limitations could slow his path to tight-end success.
Fantasy Value
It isn’t going to be a direct path to success for Ben Sinnott in the Washington offense, they did bring in Zach Ertz who has a history with OC Kliff Kingsbury, but, as a dynasty asset, Sinnott’s value is for the years to come, not the instant payoff. Let’s also remember that Zach Ertz isn’t exactly the greatest blocker. There is a bit of hesitation with that information, does Sinnott take on more of a blocking role and Ertz is the primary pass catching tight end for newly drafted QB Jayden Daniels. Time will be the ultimate fortune teller in this situation.
Looking at Kingsbury’s tight ends when he was in the NFL, they were one of the most positions in the passing attack. They had a tight end finish in the top 5 of targets and yards each season he was in Arizona. They will be a focal point of the offense, and with a rookie QB, they should be leaned on when he starts to get in trouble. Washington addressed their o-line woes as well which will only add to the projections of everyone involved with Commanders. Don’t be afraid to invest in Ben in the 2nd round of your rookie drafts, and you will not be disappointed.
