Here is our breakdown of 2023 Dynasty Rookie Prospect: Zach Charbonnet!

Player Overview

Zach Charbonnet is a 6’0, 214-pound senior running back from UCLA. Originally he played for Michigan before transferring to UCLA after the 2020 season. His 2022 campaign produced 1358 yards, 14 touchdowns, and he was utilized in the passing game hauling in 37 receptions for 320 yards.

Player Summary

Although his 40-yard dash time, 4.53, placed him in the top 10 for running backs at the combine, Charbonnet doesn’t consistently display his “make you miss” ability or blow you away with his speed. He needs to work on accelerating through the gaps instead of relying on his strength to shake off defenders.

Fantasy Summary

Charbonnet is typically going as the third overall rookie running back in the early drafts behind Bijan Robinson and Jamyr Gibbs, respectively. In dynasty, he’s likely not making it out of the first round. His usage as a pass catcher will make him a valuable asset in PPR formats.
