IDP Waiver Wire Targets for Week 4 (2021)

Week 3 was, for the most part, was a success when it comes to my 4-EYED IDP Waiver Wire Targets. Let’s take a look back and see how they all performed.

Jonathan Allen/Gregory Rousseau/Maxx Crosby-All were disruptive, but nobody got to the QB, ultimately not reflecting on the score sheet

Logan Wilson-Absolute STUD. Finished as the LB1 on the week. If he is still available, grab him now, but hopefully, he is already on your roster.

Cole Holcomb-Pretty much exactly as we planned it. Targeted 5 times (allowed 2 TD, luckily there’s no penalty for poor coverage skills). The biggest takeaway is that he was 2nd among all defenders in Solos. Like with Wilson above, if you didn’t pick him up last week, go grab him now.

Nick Vigil-Didn’t live up to the lofty expectations, but still had 8 tackles and played 100% of the snaps. Gets the Browns who have been just giving points to LB this year

Jordan Fuller-Wasn’t nearly as productive this week in a game that saw a lot of the plays away from him. I expect a bounce-back, but maybe not in this matchup vs Ari

Mike Hilton-Not a lot of meat left on the bone when Wilson devoured the Steelers. Still like his matchup this week vs Jax after Tyson Campbell had 7 tackles in the slot.

Defensive Line

Harold Landry III-Tennessee Titans

Landry III is definitely one of the more underrated pass rushers on the season. Currently, 2nd in the NFL with 20 total pressures, Landry and the Titans will travel to New York to face a Jets line who ranks 27th in pass-blocking efficiency (pressures/pass rush). Landry was an absolute monster in Week 3 (5 QB hits/0.5 sack) and will look to continue that success.

Jadaveon Clowney-Cleveland Browns

In a game in which Myles Garrett sets the Browns’ franchise record with 4.5 sacks, it’s easy to see how Jadaveon Clowney can come in under the radar. While he may be under the radar, it isn’t warranted. Clowney had 2 sacks, 2 TFL, and 5 QB hits in Week 3 against the Bears! I think it’s only fair to assume that the Vikings will be adding a little extra protection against #95, which may mean another solid day for Clowney!

Linebacker

Kenny Young-Los Angeles Rams

I will happily admit that I was wrong on my pre-season evaluation of Kenny Young. With that being said, I am happy to recommend him as an every-week LB1/2. Young is currently ranked as the LB7 on the season. In Week 3, Young had 10 tackles (8 solo), 1 sack, and a FF. Some may look at Week 2 and see a “down” game but remember that he was ejected for making contact with an official. Kenny Young is a tackling machine and has a fun matchup with the Cardinals in store for Week 4.

De’Vondre Campbell-Green Bay Packers

After moving around from Atlanta to Arizona, it appears that Campbell has found his home in Green Bay. Campbell is 4th among LB with 21 Solo tackles and 16th among LB in assisted tackles, with 10. The Packers will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4 and look to continue to assault on Roethlisberger that the Bengals began in Week 3. Look for Campbell to be targeted heavily over the middle and have another double-digit tackle week.

Tae Crowder-New York Giants

I really wish I didn’t have to make this recommendation, but with the news that Blake Martinez has torn his ACL, it was inevitable. When Martinez went down, Crowder had some huge shoes to fill, but he filled them admirably. Crowder had 11 tackles and a pass defended in his 56 snaps, which happens to match the total of Wk1 and Wk2 combined. Look for Crowder to wear the Green Dot and play 100% of the snaps in Week 4, in a matchup against the Saints.

Defensive Back

Adrian Amos-Green Bay Packers

Adrian Amos has been a tackling monster in 2021, leading all DB with 21 solos. Despite not adding much in the way of a pass rush or turnovers, Amos played 38% of the snaps in the box in Week 3, his highest % of the season. I can see him replicating this number in Week 4 against a weathered and worn-down Steelers offense. If still available, feel comfortable starting Amos for the foreseeable future.

Marcus Maye-New York Jets

Maybe one of the highlights of covering IDP is being able to recommend a player on the Jets. Alas, here we are! The Jets will look to face the Titans and the NFL rushing leader, Derrick Henry in Week 4. While tackling Henry is no easy task, it does set up well for another high tackle volume play for Maye. Maye ranks 2nd on the Jets in tackles, trailing CJ Moseley by 1, but is the leader in Solo tackles (16). Add in the 2 TFL, 1 QB hit, and the INT, and we have the DB7 overall! Let us not forget that Maye is also playing for a new contract in 2022!
