Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Player Overview

Dotson ended his rookie season as the third wide receiver for the Washington Commanders behind Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel. A hamstring injury sidelined Dotson for a significant part of the year, which was a huge disappointment for the first-round draft pick. Coming into his sophomore season, expect the Commanders to continue incorporating Dotson into the offense in a major way.

Player Summary

Despite missing time, Dotson still led the offense in touchdowns with seven trips to the endzone. In his first four games, Dotson hauled in four of those scores. In a wide receiver room known for their speed and ability to get down the field, Dotson’s average depth of target was 15.4 yards, which led this group and was sixth overall in the league.

Don’t underestimate Dotson due to his size, either. He may only be 5’11 and 182 pounds, but his contested catch rate last year was 61.1%, the 13th best in the league. He’ll go up and get the ball, and he’s not likely to drop it either, doing so only three times total last season.

Fantasy Summary

Going into the 2023 season, Dotson has the potential to be an absolute steal in your draft. According to FantasyPros consensus dynasty rankings, he’s wide receiver 29. Ranked behind players in much worse offensive situations, like Chris Godwin and Treylon Burks. Assuming he stays healthy, you can expect him to make a giant leap forward this year under new Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieneimy. Dotson should really come into his own as the Commander’s second wide receiver as the perfect complement to Terry McLaurin.
