We have made it through the first five weeks of the fantasy football season. Last week, I managed to flip flop my starts and sits for quarterbacks and missed on every quarterback to start, but hit on every quarterback you should sit. Plus, just when I thought Myles Gaskin was done, he pops off for a RB4 performance. Now, we head to Week 6 Fantasy Football matchups!
We have our first round of bye weeks this week! On bye: Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and San Francisco 49ers.
Here are your 4-EYED Starts & Sits of the Week!
Quarterbacks
Start: Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers against the Baltimore Ravens
I know, real novel idea playing the quarterback that put up 42.8 fantasy points last week. But, Herbert will be taking on the Baltimore Ravens. They are giving up 19.02 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks so it won’t be a cakewalk. Don’t overthink this one though and start Herbert.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Joe Burrow against the Detroit Lions, Matthew Stafford against the New York Giants, and Aaron Rodgers against the Chicago Bears.
Sit: Derek Carr, Las Vegas Raiders against the Denver Broncos
Yes, part of this sit advice is stemming from the fact that his head coach resigned and he will be playing under an interim. The other is that Carr and company draw the Denver Broncos this week. The Broncos are giving up the second-fewest fantasy points per week to opposing quarterbacks. Sit Carr in this tough matchup.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Sits:
Ryan Tannehill against the Buffalo Bills, Kirk Cousins against the Carolina Panthers, and Justin Fields against the Green Bay Packers.
Running Backs
Start: Nick Chubb, Cleveland Browns against the Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals are giving up only 17.24 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs which is the eighth-fewest in the league. Despite this, the Browns are a run-heavy team. Chubb has three straight games with at least 21 carries. He has at least 11 fantasy points in four out of five games. And finally, he is coming off of a 161-yard rushing performance. Let Chubb eat.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Joe Mixon against the Detroit Lions, Leonard Fournette against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Antonio Gibson against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sit: Kenyan Drake, Las Vegas Raiders against the Denver Broncos
Unlike his quarterback, this sit suggestion has nothing to do with the coaching change. Drake just simply isn’t used. He hasn’t had more than 9 carries in a game and he has only seen one target over the last two weeks. Jacobs is the starting running back and is way more involved in the game plan. I don’t see Drake doing well against the Broncos this week.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Sits:
James Conner against the Cleveland Browns, Tony Pollard against the New England Patriots, and Darrel Williams against the Washington Football Team.
Wide Receivers
Start: Marvin Jones Jr., Jacksonville Jaguars against the Miami Dolphins
Even though Jones is coming off his worst game of the season, he should be able to bounce back. The Dolphins are giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Jones is still leading the team in targets and I think he and Lawrence connect in a big way here. Start Marvin Jones Jr.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Chase Claypool against the Seattle Seahawks, DJ Moore against the Minnesota Vikings, and Courtland Sutton against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sit: Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns against the Arizona Cardinals.
Beckham continues to underperform for the Browns. They are a run-heavy team, but still. He has 10 targets over the last two games, and four receptions for 47 yards total. The Cardinals are beatable for wide receivers, but Beckham just isn’t inspiring any confidence.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Sits:
Henry Ruggs III against the Denver Broncos, Jaylen Waddle against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tee Higgins against the Detroit Lions.
Tight Ends
Start: Dawson Knox, Buffalo Bills against the Tennessee Titans
You are going to be starting Knox until he has a dud performance. He has been a prime beneficiary of quarterback Josh Allen playing out of his mind recently. Knox is currently the overall TE3 and has a touchdown in four straight games.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Dalton Schultz against the New England Patriots, Hunter Henry against the Dallas Cowboys, and Noah Fant against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sit: Robert Tonyan, Green Bay Packers against the Chicago Bears
The Bears are giving up 6.45 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. This is the seventh-fewest per game in the league. Tonyan has had one good game this year and it was in Week 2. In every other game so far this season, Tonyan has fewer than two fantasy points in each game. He is solely touchdown dependent and shouldn’t be started.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Sits:
Zach Ertz against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Evan Engram against the Los Angeles Rams, and Tyler Conklin against the Carolina Panthers.
With IDP options being so plentiful in fantasy football, each week we’re going to list for you an option at each position with honorable mentions to help set your lineups with confidence.
Defensive Linemen
Start: Haason Reddick, Carolina Panthers against the Minnesota Vikings
Reddick is averaging 18.8 fantasy points per game which are the seventh-highest among defensive linemen. He had a bad week in Week 4 but then bounced back with 32 fantasy points last week. Ride the momentum and roll with Reddick.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Javon Hargrave against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Harold Landry against the Buffalo Bills, and Jonathan Allen against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Linebackers
Start: Christian Kirksey, Houston Texans against the Indianapolis Colts
Kirksey has had at least 15 fantasy points in every game this season. He is the backbone of the Texans’ defense. He is averaging the 12th most fantasy points per game for a linebacker and is in line for another big game this week.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Darius Leonard against the Houston Texans, Jordyn Brooks against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Denzel Perryman against the Denver Broncos
Defensive Backs
Start: Trevon Diggs, Dallas Cowboys against the New England Patriots
I’m just going to make Diggs a start each week that he has an interception. For the record, he has an interception in every game so far this season. He leads the NFL with six interceptions through five games. For fantasy, he has at l; least 20 points in four straight games.
Additional Week 6 Fantasy Football Starts:
Micah Hyde against the Tennessee Titans, Quandre Diggs against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Adrian Amos against the Chicago Bears.
