Week 3 was a wild one!
What has been proven is that the offenses seem to be ahead of the defenses at this point! While the offenses might be clicking a little more than the defenses, the elite IDP options are still humming along! Devin White, TJ Watt, Budda Baker and the other sought after IDP talents still are near the top of the leaderboard, and all but guaranteed to be rostered. So who are the IDP darlings out there that might be hiding in the waiver pool? Let me dig out the gold so you can support the bling! Here are your week 4 waiver wire gems…..
Defensive Line
Carl Lawson

Lawson was busy again on Sunday vs the Eagles. He tallied 8 tackles (4 solo-4 assis), 2 for a loss, 2 sacks, and 1 FF. Lawson played in 51% of the snaps and led all Bengal lineman with a 17% tackle rate. He has had 2 weeks with a top 20 DL finish to begin 2020 and looks to keep it going in week 4 vs the Jags, who have given up 10 sacks on the season.
Ryan Kerrigan

Looking at the boxscore from weeks 2 and 3 might not be the most “blow you away” numbers, but it’s the opportunity that is worth noting. Chase Young left Sunday’s game with an apparent groin injury. Worth noting is that he is going to undergo an MRI to determine severity, despite the young phenoms’ stance that it was nothing “too serious”. If Kerrigan, who saw his week 3 snap % hover around the 65% (season high), replaces the Young snaps, production could easily follow. In only 35% of the snaps in week 1, Kerrigan had a tremendous game resulting in 19 fantasy points.
Shelby Harris

This is one to watch over the next couple days! The Broncos play the Jets on Thursday night and Harris was listed as a non-participant on Monday’s practice. If healthy and able to play Thursday, Harris has an incredible opportunity going forward. Following the season-ending loss to Jurell Casey, Harris was in line to receive the bulk of the duties at DE. To be fair, there are only two healthy bodies capable of playing DE currently. Harris is coming off an incredible performance on Sunday, tallying 2 sacks, 4 tackles, and a pass defended, resulting in 18.8 fantasy points.
Linebacker
Kyzir White

When Drue Tranquill went out with injury, there were conflicting opinions on who would take the majority of his snaps. I, for one, didn’t see Kyzir White taking the role and running with it. I guess I should have taken a closer look at his pass coverage ability (he has DB elig in Sleeper platform) and looked at his upcoming opponents. Against the Carolina Panthers, and their dink and dunk style of offense, White was all over the place and made the most of it. White recorded 11 tackles (8 solo) and 1.5 tackles for a loss, culminating in 16.25 points. Looking ahead at his week 4 opponent, the Tampa Bay Bucs, it is pretty safe to assume a heavy workload against their short and intermediate passing game.
DeVondre Campbell

DeVondre Campbell came over from Atlanta and it was immediately assumed that he would man the ILB position along with Jordan Hicks. Fast forward to the NFL draft where the Cardinals selected Isaiah Simmons, and the uncertainty of Simmons’ position on the team blurred those lines. Well, after 3 weeks, Simmons has seen about 17% of the snaps and Campbell has received 99.5. Until Simmons is better situated into a role, it’s the Campbell show! Thru 3 weeks, Campbell is averaging 12.3 fppg, but this week could be the week he gets to double digit tackles. Facing the Carolina Panthers, and their aforementioned “dink and dunk” style, Campbell and his good pass coverage ability should be on full display.
Eric Wilson

When Anthony Barr was lost for the season due to injury, the Vikings were forced to turn to Eric Wilson in the majority of formations, instead of the leaving the field for nickel and dime formations. Now, after seeing his snap share increase to 100% this past week, we can look ahead to this matchup against Houston.
Wilson isn’t likely to be massively rostered due to the depth at LB, but if you need an LB in a pinch, Wilson’s 100% snap shares, ability to get to the QB, and the likelihood that Minnesota’s defense will be on the field quite a bit should help elevate his floor.
Defensive Backs
Mike Hilton

As if the Steelers didn’t already have enough IDP relevant players?? Thru week 3, Hilton leads all IDP with 58 points!! So the overall leader in points is only rostered in 11.8% of the leagues? Ok, even if he isn’t likely to finish at the top comes seasons end, this is too good of a situation to not ride the wave. He has 19 solo tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks, and 4 passes defensed. The Steelers face off against the Titans in Week 4, which doesn’t appear to be a pass heavy game, but it’s 2020, so just go and grab Hilton. I don’t need to tell you twice.
Jeff Okudah

Jeff Okudah is starting to look like the CB that the Lions envisioned when they selected him 3rd overall in the 2020 NFL draft. Thru 2 games, he has played in 95% of the snaps and has made plays all over the field. Last week he got his 1st interception of his young career, to go along with 6 solo tackles and 2 tackles for a loss. Looking ahead to Week 4, the eyes will be on New Orleans and if this is the return of Michael Thomas. If Thomas suits up, I expect Okudah to shadow him and attempt to slow him down on that bum ankle. Despite the ankle, I expect for double digit targets to go Thomas’ way, and could lend to another stellar game for Okudah. Pay attention as the week unfolds. If Thomas is out and it remains the Kamara show, I might look more at Safety than corner in this game.
Chuck Clark

Chuck Clark, who wears the green dot for the Baltimore Ravens, is still under rostered. Recording 10 tackles and a FF in the Monday night game against the Chiefs, Clark turns his attention to the Washington Football Team in Week 4. Clark is not just a stay at home safety, he played 21 snaps at the line of scrimmage vs KC vs the 30 snaps played at SS in week 1. He is among the league leaders in pass rushes among safeties, and has a really good chance of getting to Haskins considering the WFT have given up 10 sacks on the season.
