Week 16 Waiver Wire Adds for IDP

I have been waiting for a little over 110 days to write this next sentence.

IT IS CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK!

Hopefully, you have been on this journey with us since Week 1, and I, in some way, shape, or form, have assisted you in your quest for the title!  While some titles come with a trophy, cash, or just bragging rights, we all know that the hard work that we put in is rewarded in some way.  In previous weeks, a waiver wire add can be good for that particular week, as well as for weeks to come.  This particular article has a shelf life of 1 week only….and it might be the most important article of the year!

For some of us, we have built a juggernaut of a team that needs no work!  For others, we have super-glued a team together that is now seeing the adhesive beginning to give way.  In the event that you are either of the above managers, making waiver wire adds can be particularly important to keep that team from falling apart, or maybe it’s to keep your opponent from doing the same. Either way, I am doing the digging to help find Waiver Wire gold to help you bring home the Gold!  Good Luck!

Defensive Line

Marcus Davenport

Davenport gets this recommendation based on the news that Trey Hendrickson could miss Week 16.  Hendrickson left the game early due to a stinger, and on a shortened week, won’t be rushed back.  While Davenport hasn’t exactly been dominant in his 9 games played on the season, his snap share does look to improve this week if Trey is out.  With the news that Cameron Jordan will not be suspended, the Minnesota offensive line can focus their attention on Jordan, with the potential that Davenport can capitalize on a team that has allowed the 12th most sacks to their QB (3 in Week 15).

Carl Lawson

Carl Lawson recorded his 2nd sack since Week 4 on Monday Night Football vs the Steelers in their amazing victory.  Lawson absolutely dominated Villanueva in that game and would appear to have another solid matchup in Week 16 vs the Houston Texans.  Lawson always had the pedigree to contribute at this level, he just has been too inconsistent to recommend on a weekly basis.  I look at this matchup vs Hou and I see one that is going to be a pass-heavy game, with the Texans’ running game apparently non-existent.  Watson and the Texans were just sacked 5 times by the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15.

Linebacker

Terez Hall

Hall entered the league as a UDFA out of Missouri and got his 1st start in Week 9 vs the Jets.  It hasn’t taken him long to become acclimated to the Patriots defense, as he has now racked up double-digit tackles in multiple games!  With the news that Ja’Whaun Bentley left the game in Week 15 with an apparent arm injury, I could expect to see a similar snap% from Hall in Week 16 vs the Bills, as the Patriots are pretty thin at LB.  Hall has the edge-rushing ability to get to the quarterback, as evidenced by his 5 sacks and 7 tackles for a loss in his Sr year at Mizzou.

Alex Singleton

Alex Singleton should be rostered in more than 23% of the leagues.  I realize that many of you reading this are probably in leagues where he is not available, but in the chance that he is, go and make this pickup!  Coming off of a Week 15 that had 11 tackles and a fumble recovery, he has now scored double-digit fantasy points in 5 of the past 6 weeks!  Not coincidentally, he has had double-digit tackles in those 5 of 6 games as well!  Over that same 6 game span, Singleton leads all LB in solo tackles,  he is 5th in assisted tackles, and has a sack and 2 fumble recoveries.  This week, the Eagles are in a divisional showdown with the Cowboys, who have been very generous to opposing LB.

Neville Hewitt

As I mentioned above with Singleton, Hewitt should not be available in 75% of leagues.  Also, as I said before, if you are in one of those leagues, you should stop reading and go pick him up.  Hewitt is 5th in the NFL in Solo Tackles, 16th in assisted tackles, 8th in overall tackles, and has scored double-digit fantasy points in 5 straight games.  While playing for the lowly Jets, he has plenty of time on the field (99.7% snaps on the season) and faces a Cleveland Browns team that should give him plenty of tackle volume.

Defensive Back

Khari Willis

Willis has really come on strong as of late and has played 100% of the snaps in back to back weeks.  In Week 15, Willis had 9 Solo and a Forced Fumble, to follow up Week 14’s 5 Solo tackle and an Interception game.  Over the past 2 weeks, Willis 3rd among DB’s with 14 Solo Tackles and leads the position in fantasy points over that time.  The Colts will face a Steelers team that has allowed some big games to opposing safeties.

Lonnie Johnson

With the news that Justin Reid was going to have season-ending surgery to repair an Ulnar Collateral Ligament in his thumb, there was a question as to who was going to fill in for him at Free Safety.  Well over the past 2 weeks, it appears that Lonnie Johnson is the one the Texans have chosen.  Reid’s 83 tackles and 2 sacks are large shoes to fill, but so far Lonnie Johnson has done an admirable job.  While seeing 100% of the snaps in Week 15, Johnson tallied 9 total tackles and a .5 Tackle for Loss.  The Texans will face a Bengals team being led by Ryan Finley, which has the makings for some big plays on the defensive side.

Ladies and Gentlemen, that is all she wrote!  I hope that in some way, shape, or form my articles have assisted you along the way!  Most importantly, I hope at least just one of my waiver wire adds is going to bring you the trophy and that Championship!  If you have any questions, just know that you can always find me @natemarcum on Twitter.  I am always happy to chat.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!  We are almost done with 2020.
