Welcome back, #4-EYEDfans!
As week 9 has come and gone, I hope that all of you are in good shape to make the playoffs with an EYE on capturing your very own #4EYEDchampionship this season. Thru the first 9 weeks, there are some familiar faces atop the scoring leaderboards in IDP fantasy football. The defensive lineman/edge rusher category has T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett, the linebackers have Roquan Smith and Blake Martinez, and the defensive backs have Jordan Poyer and Budda Baker all atop their leaderboard. While many of us were lucky enough to have at least a piece of the leaderboard pie, many more were not so lucky. If you had drafted Danielle Hunter, Cory Littleton, or J.J. Watt, you have most likely been scouring the wire or making trades to offset the dwindling draft capital. I am here to help you put those finishing touches on your future championship team!
Let’s get into the Week 10 Waiver Wire Gold!
As a reminder, at Fantasy In Frames when discussing IDP fantasy point scoring we utilize the FantasyPros IDP Scoring Rubric to assign point values to plays:
Defensive Lineman
Trey Hendrickson
- 2.6% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 15.8 Week 9 Points
- 8.84 Fantasy Points per Game
Hendrickson added another 2 sacks to his season total this past week in their matchup vs TB. Those 2 brought his sack total up to 7.5 sacks for the season, which ranks 3rd in the NFL. Despite the return of Marcus Davenport, the Saints have still rotated Hendrickson enough to warrant consideration. Playing in 63% of the snaps in Week 9, his 6.5% sack rate led all Defensive Lineman. On the season, among DL with a minimum of 30 snaps per game, he ranks 1st in both sack rate (2.5%) and QB hit % (4.3). Hendrickson looks to keep it going vs Nick Mullens and the SF 49ers.
Emmanuel Ogbah
- 13.1% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 16.25 Week 9 Points
- 10.31 Fantasy Points per Game
By now, Ogbah should be rostered in a lot more than 13%, but I understand that there are still very shallow IDP leagues that can alter percentages. Either way, if he is available, grab him before it’s too late. Ogbah has been on an absolute tear recently! Recording double-digit points in 5 straight games, Ogbah has also tallied at least a half-sack in each game since Week 2. The Dolphins will face the Chargers and Justin Herbert who has been sacked multiple times in all but 1 game this year. With the Chargers’ rushing game looking awfully “Ballage”…..I can see plenty of pass rush opportunities for Herbert this week.
Olivier Vernon
- 1.2% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- Week 9 BYE
- 6.25 Fantasy Points per Game
This is definitely a Week 10 BYE week replacement play vs an every-week starter. The Browns, coming off of their BYE, will face the Houston Texans who have allowed the 4th most sacks. Myles Garrett would be the obvious choice for the game “Who sacks Deshaun Watson”, but Cleveland is still awaiting word that Garrett’s knee injury isn’t too serious. Vernon will get the opportunity to match up against Tytus Howard, who is the 16th worst OT in regards to pass-protection. The Browns are suspect on the ground, but with David Johnson battling a concussion, expect a heavy passing game for Houston.
Linebacker
Markus Golden
- 4.4% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 12.75 Week 9 Fantasy Points
- 4.34 Fantasy Points per Game
In Golden’s 1st game since the trade from the Giants, the impact was evident! Golden was in the backfield on numerous plays. He totaled 5 tackles and a sack, but it should have been 2, if not for a poor facemask penalty against the Cardinals. In addition to the sack and tackles, Golden also had a Tackle for Loss, a Pass Defended, and a QB Hit. With the loss of Chandler Jones, I can see Golden seeing a high enough snap% to remain startable for the rest of the season. This week the Cardinals will face the Bills and Josh Allen, who was just sacked 7 times by the Seattle Seahawks in week 9!
A.J. Klein
- .5 % Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 27 Week 9 Fantasy Points
- 8.7 Fantasy Points per Game
With Matt Milano on the shelf, A.J. Klein looked ready to make an impact in Week 9. Klein, seeing the most playing time (95% snap share) since their Week 6 matchup vs KC, put on a show for the Bills. Klein had 5 solo tackles, 2 sacks, 4 QB hits, 1 PD, a forced fumble, a and fumble recovery. Considering his recent lull in production, it was really nice to see Klein making big play after big play. Klein and the Bills will look to slow down Kyler and the Cardinals.
Cole Holcomb
- 1.3% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 9.5 Week 9 Fantasy Points
- 12.5 Fantasy Points per game
Since week 6, once Holcomb returned from injury, he has seen his snap% increase from 64% to 69% to 89% in week 9. It truly appears that the Football Team wants him heavily involved, and his play isn’t leaving any room for question. He has tallied 17 tackles over that time, to go along with a sack and an Interception. If you’re struggling at LB, or have one of the many solid options out on a BYE, I can happily recommend Holcomb.
Defensive Back
Kamren Curl
- 0.3% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 18.75 Week 9 Fantasy Points
- 5.5 Fantasy Points per Game
I mentioned Curl back in my Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire article due to the Landon Collins injury, despite the BYE week looming in Week 8. If you listened and picked him up, he definitely returned dividends in Week 9 to the tune of 18.75 Fantasy points. Curl played all 100% of the snaps and posted 11 tackles (6 solos), 1 sack, and 2 QB hits. The Football Team will face off against Matthew Stafford and the Lions who have allowed 9 sacks over the past 3 games. I look for Stafford (if totally cleared from concussion protocol) to consistently be on the run against this formidable WFT defense!
Jabrill Peppers
- 24% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 21 Week 9 Fantasy Points
- 10 Fantasy Points per Game
Peppers finally appears to be healthy and is making an impact on a defense that could greatly need it! Playing in all 100% of the snaps for only the 2nd time this season, Peppers had 6 tackles (4 solos), 3 PD’s, an INT, and a fumble Recovery. The Giants will face an Eagles team that is definitely susceptible to the blitz, and it wouldn’t shock me to see Peppers just sitting back waiting to pick off a ball. Considering he has 5 PD’s over the past 2 weeks, his prowess for being a ball hawk seems to have returned! Check your waiver wire and see if he had been buried due to a lack of production up until the past 2 weeks!
Justin Reid
- 12% Rostered (FantasyPros Consensus)
- 8.3 Week 9 Fantasy Points
- 7.84 Fantasy Points per Game
If you are looking for just a steady floor with a game script that could lead to a potential top 15 finish, look no further than Justin Reid. Reid has had at least 5 tackles in all but 1 game and has scored 6 fantasy points in all but that same game, a battle with Green Bay. I expect the Browns to want to keep the game on the ground, which should help keep that 5+ tackle floor as stable as a floor as there maybe this week. If we want to be optimistic, we can look back at week 2 when they faced a run-heavy Baltimore Ravens team (37 rushing attempts). Set your floor at the 6-8pt mark but be on the lookout for a double-digit performance!
