Waiver Wire: Week 3 (2024)

Waiver Wire Week 3 (2024) | Fantasy In Frames

If you’re like me, you’re in full-tilt mode after the second week of Fantasy Football. With multiple injuries and strange offensive schemes for big players, the waiver wire might be your saving grace this week! As always, Fantasy In Frames has you covered!

I will use Sleeper HQ roster percentages for this Week 3 Waiver Wire (2024) article, as it is one of the more popular platforms. The percentages may be off for those using Yahoo and ESPN as their fantasy platforms, but there were no significant discrepancies.

Quarterback:

Week 3 Waiver Wire (2024)- Quarterbacks | Fantasy In Frames

Justin Fields – Sleeper roster 32%

  • With two wins under his belt, Fields may have secured the starting job for the Steelers. He threw 13/20 for just over 100 yards, but he has been getting his guys in a position to score. Well, mainly for kicker Chris Boswell to score.
  • So far on the year, Fields has had 22 carries for 84 yards. Most of those are scrambles created by Fields, but the rushing upside means he deserves to be a waiver pick up.

Derek Carr – Sleeper roster 20%

  • Carr faced a top-ranked Dallas defense and decimated them, throwing for 243 yards, two touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.
  • Carr is currently ranked the number 2 QB on the season behind Baker Mayfield. He has the best passing rating in the NFL through two weeks and looks to continue that streak against an average Eagles defense.

Sam Darnold – Sleeper roster 14%

  • Darnold threw for 268 yards and two passing touchdowns this week, averaging 10.3 yards per attempt.
  • He has a 72% completition rate for the year so far. He looks to improve on that the next two weeks against Houston and Green Bay.

Running Back:

Week 3 Waiver Wire (2024)- Running Backs | Fantasy In Frames

Braelon Allen – Sleeper roster 27%

  • In a surprise from a week ago, Braelon Allen was a bright spot for the New York Jets. He rushed for 33 yards and a touchdown, adding a 23 yards and a touchdown through the air.
  • Allen was on the field for 35% of snaps, up from 18% in week one. He was more effective than Hall in this game, rushing for 5.1 yards per carry and catching deeper balls from Aaron Rodgers.

Carson Steele – Sleeper roster 4%

  • A waiver wire add due to injury, unfortunately. With Isiah Pacheco headed to IR, the next guys up are Samaje Perine and Carson Steele.
  • Steele split time with Perine, but Steele has been given the running snaps, while Perine given the option snaps for check downs. Steele will have upside when Pacheco is out.

Antonio Gibson – Sleeper roster 34%

  • Most of Gibson’s 96 yards came on a long 45-yard run. But without that one long carry, he still was averaging 5.1 yards per carry for the game.
  • Gibson was on the field for 24% of backs, including some goal line stands. He will be Stevenson’s change of pace back, and a good handcuff for running back needy fantasy teams.

Wide Receiver:

Week 3 Waiver Wire (2024)- Wide Receivers | Fantasy In Frames

Wan’Dale Robinson – Sleeper roster 19%

  • While Wan’Dale isn’t a record breaking kind of waiver add, he is a PPR machine. The Giants are the 4th most pass heavy offense and those targets have been going to two wide receivers: rookie Malik Nabers and Robinson.
  • Robinson scored 8.8 PPR fantasy points. By comparison, he scored more points on two receptions than Jaylen Waddle, Stephon Diggs, and Mike Evans.

Ja’Lynn Polk – Sleeper roster 42%

  • The Patriots have the lowest passing rating to receivers in all of the NFL. Even though he only had four targets, that accounted for 27% of wide receiver shares.
  • Polk was on the field for 60% of snaps and got his first touchdown of his NFL career this weekend. He scored 9.2 PPR fantasy points in week two on two receptions.

Alec Pierce – Sleeper roster 2%

  • Despite him being on everyone’s sleeper list a week ago, Alec Pierce is still only 2% rostered. Over the past two games, he has been on the field for 84% and 95% of all offensive snaps.
  • He is currently the WR8 on the year, averaging 19.1 PPR fantasy points per game. He is out-snapping the rookie Adonai Mitchell for the WR2 on his team behind Michael Pittman.

Tight End:

Hunter Henry – Sleeper roster 24%

  • Tight end 1 on the week was none other than Hunter Henry. He had 12 targets on the game, catching 8 of them for 109 yards, including a bomb 35 yard pass.
  • In the current offensive scheme, Henry is the Patriots WR1 despite being a tight end. He is receiving 32% of all targets to any skill position on the team.

Zach Ertz – Sleeper roster 8%

  • If you’re hurting for tight ends after a disappointing two weeks, look no further than Zach Ertz. He is currently TE8 through two games, averaging 8 PPR points per game.
  • Ertz is the Commander’s TE1 so far. His tight end target share is sitting at 80% and has an 88% catch rate on his 8 targets.

Mike Gesicki – Sleeper roster 10%

  • Mike Gesicki is TE5 through two weeks thanks to a massive game two. He had 91 total yards on 7 receptions for 16.1 fantasy points.
  • Gesicki is ahead right now of Ja’Maar Chase for total target percentage on the team, getting 21% of all receiving looks, including targets in the red zone.

D/ST:

Buffalo Bills – Sleeper roster 28%

  • The Bills played lights out against Miami. They ranked number one on the week, allowing only 10 points. They had two sacks, three interceptions and one returned for a touchdown.
  • The team plays at home this week against the Jaguars, a team who hasn’t scored 20 points yet this season.

Las Vegas Raiders – Sleeper roster 7%

  • The Raiders have played well through two weeks, including a big win over the Baltimore Ravens. They allowed 23 points, but were able to two sacks and an interception.
  • The take on the Carolina Panthers in week 3, led by backup quarterback Andy Dalton. So far in two games, Bryce Young was sacked six times. We will see if Dalton will fare any better.

Green Bay Packers – Sleeper roster 5%

  • The Packers are one of the more surprising defenses on the year so far, sitting at number nine overall. They have three sacks, five interceptions, and a fumble recovery.
  • They head to Tennessee next, where the Chicago Bears and New York Jets defenses had a combined seven sacks, three interceptions, one fumble recovery and two touchdowns when they played the Titans.
