Waiver Wire Targets for Week 12 (2021)

Waiver Wire Targets for Week 12 (2021)

Here we go with our Waiver Wire Targets for Week 12 for the 2021 fantasy football season. Find out who you should go after below!

Simply put, week 12 is almost a full pass for me if you are in a league with active managers, other than the *gulp* New York Jets players and maybe two others I will be letting these players sit on waivers. Let’s review some of these top targets at each position.

As always I will be focusing on players at less than a 50% rostered rate in consensus numbers in ESPN and Yahoo leagues compiled by Fantasy Pros.

Quarterback Streamers

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers, Consensus Roster Percentage 44.5%, Week 12 Matchup at Dolphins

Cam has been great on the ground and certainly an improvement through the air. He draws the Miami Dolphins in week 12 who have allowed the 7th most points to opposing quarterbacks on the season. Look for Cam to continue to get DJ Moore more involved in the passing game and provide a nice baseline with his legs.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants, Consensus Roster Percentage 31.7%, Week 12 Matchup vs Eagles

The Eagles have allowed 27 or more points in 4 of their last 6 games, and the Giants are so close to having their entire starting offense back. If Sterling Shepard can get back on the field he should be a boon for Daniel Jones’ fantasy value, and having Saquon back and a week healthier should give the entire offense a boost.

Tyrod Taylor, Houston Texans, Consensus Roster Percentage 5.5%, Week 12 matchup vs Jets

Tyrod has been a solid started in 3 of his 4 starts this season, providing all of his value on the ground this past week. He also gets to play the Jets in Houston, don’t over think this one.

Ben Roethlisberger, Consensus Roster Percentage 18.9%, Week 12 matchup at Bengals

Ben hasn’t been exceptional this year only scoring above 20 points once, he has however been reliable not scoring below 10 points a single time and only throwing less than 30 passes a single game this year. The Steelers and Bengals should put some points on the board in this AFC North showdown.

Running Backs

Ty Johnson, New York Jets, Consensus Roster Percentage 19.4%

An ankle injury has temporarily de-railed Michael Carter’s breakout season, but in turn, put Ty Johnson in line for a lot more work. Johnson was a recommended waiver add in this article last week, and he is now the highest priority add. I would write off his lack of involvement on Sunday against the Dolphins in the passing game as a blip on the radar. Not only should he see an increase in carries but his passing game involvement should remain consistent to where it has been for the entire month prior to Sunday.

Devonta Freeman, Baltimore Ravens, Consensus Roster Percentage 49.9%

Latavius Murray didn’t look 100% healthy on Sunday, but he was still on the field and Devonta Freeman remained the unquestioned RB1 with 22 opportunities and 58% of the snaps to Murray’s 12 and 37%. If Freeman can continue to see this kind of usage with Murray healthy and Lamar back in the lineup he should be an every-week RB2 moving forward.

Dontrelle Hilliard, Tennessee Titans, Consensus Roster Percentage 0.1%

The Titans backfield remains a bit of a mystery after the loss of Derrick Henry, but we did see that if they are playing from behind Peterson and Foreman will be afterthoughts. It remains to be seen what kind of usage Hilliard will have when McNichols returns to the lineup, but Hilliard is a player who is dynamic in space as evidenced by him making a career for himself out of being a kick returner. If McNichols will be out another week Hilliard is worth a desperation flex. Peterson is going to have the most reliable role of any running back on this team, which will look like a high volume, low-efficiency runner who will disappoint you unless he gets in the end zone. Neither of these guys are anything more than a second flex option.

Speculative adds for potential injury
Players to drop

Wide Receivers

Elijah Moore, New York Jets, Consensus Roster Percentage 48.9%

The Elijah Moore breakout campaign continues. Over the last 4 weeks, he has done nothing more than receive 31 targets for 24 receptions, 336 receiving yards, and 4 touchdowns with Mike White, Joe Flacco, and Josh Johnson throwing him the ball. If he is still somehow available in your league go after him aggressively because this kid is a stud.

Kendrick Bourne, New England Patriots, Consensus Roster Percentage 17.9%

Bourne isn’t going to be a world-beater in a run-first Patriot offense, but he is going to be reliable. If you need a weekly fill-in flex Bourne is your guy. He won’t kill you and has the ability to find the end zone each week and be a nice plug-and-play guy.

Will Fuller V, Miami Dolphins, Consensus Roster Percentage 29.4%

Tua and the Dolphins are absolutely desperate for people to throw the ball to. Devante Parker doesn’t look like he is ready to come off IR yet, Jaylen Waddle is getting as many targets as a person can handle and people named Mack Hollins and Durham Smythe are being targeted several times a game. Fuller could possibly come off IR this week and Will Fuller has been nothing short of great for fantasy if he can ever get himself on the field. Grab him and take the shot he comes off IR this week.

Curtis Samuel, Washington Football Team, Consensus Roster Percentage 17.1%

The Football Team offense has been begging for a WR2 all year, and if the past few weeks of Deandre Carter have been any indication, can in fact maintain two fantasy-relevant receiving options. Logan Thomas also coming back could hurt Curtis Samuel, but if you have a burner roster spot he is worth a speculative add to see what he does.

Players to drop

Tight Ends

Dan Arnold, Jacksonville Jaguars, Consensus Roster Percentage 41.0%

He finally got us to trust him and he drops a goose egg on us. I cannot blame that performance on Dan Arnold, that game was an embarrassing display of football by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and Arnold should get back to his 7 target involvement level.

Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team, Consensus Roster Percentage 49.8%

Logan Thomas was a huge part of this offense in weeks 1-3 and it seems the Washington Football Team was not going to push him back in the lineup unless he was fully healthy. This could be the week for Thomas to return and reclaim his targets and most importantly his red zone targets from Taylor Heinicke.

Players to drop

Defense/Special Teams

Chicago Bears, Consensus Roster Percentage 14.4%, Week 12 Matchup at Lions

I am going to go ahead and let the inimitable Rodger Sherman speak for me here, with one of the most entertaining threads regarding Tim Boyle I have read in a long time.

Philadelphia Eagles, Consensus Roster Percentage 15.3%, Week 12 Matchup at Giants

Other than their game against the Chargers, the Eagles defense has been great for fantasy the last 4 weeks, compiling 7 sacks, 6 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 3 touchdowns in that time. The Eagles have been gifted BOTH New York teams in back to back weeks before their week 4 bye and should be a strong start in both of those matchups.

That does it for our Waiver Wire Targets for Week 12!
