Waiver Wire Adds for Week 2

Week 2 Waiver Wire Adds Fantasy Football 2022

Welcome to our first Waiver Wire article for the season!

Fantasy football championships are won by navigating the waiver wire each and every season. From injuries to underperforming players, the waiver wire Gods always provide a savior or two that will help lead us to fantasy gold. Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season provided quite a few of those. Therefore, let’s get down to business and discuss our Waiver Wire Adds for Week 2!

QBs

Carson Wentz

Consensus Rostership: 14.9%, Week 2 Matchup: Detroit Lions

  • The news from training camp seems to be true. Carson looks really good in this Washington offense, going 27 for 41, 313 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns. That’s 4th most passing yards and 2nd most passing touchdowns for a QB with 50% of 65 dropbacks. He’ll have an even better matchup in Week 2 against the Lions.

Marcus Mariota

Consensus Rostership: 6.5%, Week 2 Matchup: Los Angeles Rams

  • The Saints were supposed to have the best defense in fantasy football, Marcus Mariota and the Atlanta Falcons scored 26 points on them. I know they ended up choking away the game but this was an impressive showing from Mariota. While his next match up may look scary, remember that the Rams may still be suffering from that Super Bowl hangover after the beatdown they got from the Bills in week 1. Mariota also has massive rushing upside, be on the lookout for him.

Jameis Winston

Consensus Rostership: 41.2%, Week 2 Matchup: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Now on the other side of the Falcons v Saints game is Jameis Winston, who led the come from behind win with his 269 passing yards and 2 passing touchdowns. He did this mostly without Alvin Kamara. He also ranked top 10 in PFF grades for offense and passing. If Winston can perform like that with his best player, who knows what he can do with him.

RBs

Isiah Pacheco

Consensus Rostership: 24.6%, Week 2 Matchup: Los Angeles Chargers

  • THE HYPE IS REAL! For now. Pacheco looked really good in his first NFL game, out-carrying CEH 12 to 6 and scoring a rushing touchdown. He should be someone to pick up and stash on your bench. He has more than solidified himself as the RB2 and has the skill to reach RB1 status.

Dontrell Hilliard

Consensus Rostership: 5.6%, Week 2 Matchup: Buffalo Bills

  • One of the craziest finishes I have seen in fantasy football in a while. 21 fantasy points from a backup running back, all from receiving work. Hilliard finished with 2 rushing attempts for 8 yards but had 4 receptions for 61 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. If Henry starts to show his age, Hilliard could be a very viable option.

Jamaal Williams

Consensus Rostership: 41.5%, Week 2 Matchup: Washington Commanders

  • Honestly, this guy might be the 1A in Detroit. Swift may be a RB1 overall candidate but Williams will get his fair share of the work. He should not be rostered in only 40% of leagues. Grab him if you can.

WRs

Garrett Wilson

Consensus Rostership: 49.3%, Week 2 Matchup: Cleveland Browns

  • 8 targets with a washed Joe Flacco under center and against a talented Ravens secondary, I’m all in on Garrett Wilson. He was able to make plays when he had the ball in his hands. He is a possible candidate for a rookie breakout season.

Donovan Peoples-Jones

Consensus Rostership: 2.9%, Week 2 Matchup: New York Jets

  • Tied for 8th most targets among all wide receivers in week one, Peoples-Jones performed well with this work, finishing with 6 receptions for 60 yards. This workload will produce fantasy points. Grab him for his week 2 matchup against the Jets.

TEs

Gerald Everett

Consensus Rostership: 20.1%, Week 2 Matchup: Kansas City Chiefs

  • The starting TE for Justin Herbert, what more can you want. Keenan Allen may miss time with his hamstring injury. This will leave a lot of targets up for grabs. Everett was able to finish week 1 with 3 catches for 54 yards and a touchdown. Except to see more work for him in the future.

Hayden Hurst

Consensus Rostership: 14.8%, Week 2 Matchup: Dallas Cowboys

  • Joey Burrow had a rough week 1 but this shouldn’t be the norm. So to see Hayden Hurst get 8 targets in his first game with the Bengals should excite some interested fantasy managers. He should be a great redzone target with most of the defensive attention going to JaMarr Chase and Joe Mixon.
