Set Your Lineups For Week 6

No Thursday Night Football?! What the hell am I supposed to do now?!

That’s the question many of us are asking ourselves this very minute. In fact, that is the question we have been asking ourselves daily during this pandemic. Well, I’ll tell you what we’re supposed to do. ENJOY. EVERY. MOMENT.

EVERY PASS. EVERY RUN. EVERY TACKLE…..EVERYTHING.

We must truly embrace every facet of this football season because we never know if the next game we watch will be our last. Therefore, I ask you going forward to just put down your phones this week and just enjoy football. Your scores aren’t going anywhere. Enjoy this game while we have it.

NOW let’s get down to business, folks!

Here is a list of teams that are on a bye this week:

  • Saints
  • Raiders
  • Seahawks
  • Chargers

Here are your 4-EYED Starts & Sits For Week 6!

Quarterback

Jared Goff vs. The San Fransisco 49ers: START

While picking which skill position player to start from week to week has been a difficult task for the Rams this season, one thing that HAS been a sure thing has been the play of Jared Goff. Averaging 20.2 fantasy points per game, Goff has been the model of consistency this Ram organization has been looking for since signing him to a massive contract two season ago. This week the Rams face their division foes, the 49ers. A 49ers team that just made Ryan Fitzpatrick look like the second coming of Joe Montana. Behind an offensive line that ranks 8th in the NFL in pass blocking and with receiving weapons that put the Dolphins receiving options to shame look for Goff to have another stellar outing this week.

Phillip Rivers vs. The Cincinnati Bengals: SIT

7.6 fantasy points versus Cleveland. Seven Point Six.

21st in passer rating, 4th in interceptions, 16th in passing yards, QB19 in aDOT…. I mean let’s face it, folks, the days of Rivers putting up those epic 400-yard passing days are over. His offensive line ranks 14th in the league which isn’t exactly great and therefore could be contributing to his problems this season. Where the Colts excel at is at run-blocking. That is the bread and butter of this offense. Granted, how they’ve been utilizing those running backs on this offense is another story entirely. The fact of the matter is Rivers in this offense has given you no reason to have faith in him from a fantasy perspective, and, until that changes, you should leave him on your bench for the foreseeable future.

Running Back

Ronald Jones vs. The Green Bay Packers: START

ROJO came to PLAY last week!

20 total touches, 125 total scrimmage yards, and 14 fantasy points on the day. The Packers have allowed running backs to average 105.8 rushing yards per game on the season and are ranked 14th in run defense, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility that Jones could have another successful fantasy outing. The REAL concern with Jones is volume. With Leonard Fournette returning many are wondering if Jones will still be asked to shoulder the load. Well despite those concerns fantasy managers must realize that even with Fournette present on the team it has been Jones who has dominated all running backs, by a wide margin, in snaps on the season. The thought process heading into the season was that it was Ronald Jones’ job to lose. So far, he’s been holding quite the grip on that job, and with Bucs facing a Packers team in a matchup which should have a LOT of fantasy points scored for both sides look for Jones to get his fair share this week!

Any Ravens Running Backs vs. The Philadelphia Eagles: SIT

It’s not that I don’t think any are capable. Rather it’s I just don’t know which one to trust, and let’s be honest no one can answer that question for you.

RB1 for Baltimore is Lamar Jackson. In other words, move on!

Wide Receiver

Justin Jefferson vs. The Atlanta Falcons: START

Don’t let last week’s stinker versus the Seahawks detract you from playing Jefferson this week. The team-leader in receiving yards, yards per routes run, and completion percentage for the Vikings, Jefferson will face cornerback Isiah Oliver for the Falcons who on the season has allowed receivers to have a catch percentage of  74%. The Falcons have given up the 2nd most receiving yards in the league (1,679) and the 2nd most yards per reception to receiver. Given the fact that Falcons rank as the 10th worst secondary in the NFL, on top of everything else mentioned above, not starting Jefferson against that defense would just be criminal.

Darius Slayton vs. The Washington Football Team: SIT

Slayton, believe it or not, has a tough matchup this week against Kendall Fuller of the Football team who has only allowed a 33% catch percentage to wide receivers on the season and is tied for the most interceptions among DBs in the NFL. In fact, QBs who have targeted Fuller on the season have had on average an NFL passer rating of 16.2 out of 158.3.

For those of you who managed to acquire Slayton on the cheap recently, do not fear. He will have plenty of worthy starts for you in the coming weeks. Just not this week.

Tight End

Rob Gronkowski vs. The Green Bay Packers: START

Yes, my friends, the time has arrived. Facing linebacker Ty Summers in coverage this week (he’s REALLY bad in coverage BTW) look for Gronk have his breakout game in a matchup which should have plenty of points scored on both teams. We saw his targets go up last week versus Chicago, and he almost scored a TD falling a few yards short of the goal line. He has slowly been getting acclimated to this offense and with his uptick in usage in recent weeks look for Gronk to break out in a big way this week against this favorable matchup.

Eric Ebron vs. The Cleveland Browns: SIT

Juju Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, and James Washington. Eric Ebron is 5th in the pecking order in terms of target percentage on this offense and with the emergence of Chase Claypool last week in combination with Cleveland’s Malcolm Brown posing a tough defensive matchup look elsewhere to get your tight end production this week.

IDP CONTENT

As we do every week, when discussing IDP players we reference their fantasy point production using the FantasyPros IDP scoring rubric:

Linebackers

Eric Wilson vs. The Atlanta Falcons: START

Facing a run-heavy Seattle team, Wilson utilized his 54 snaps to turn in an impressive performance last week where he was all over the field with 6 total tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 passes defended, 1 INT, and 22 fantasy points. His increased presence on the field, which has steadily increased since week 1, can only bode well for his fantasy output going forward. Facing a Falcons team which has been utilizing Todd Gurley more in the offense, especially with him running towards the outside edges of the offensive line, look for Wilson’s positioning at OLB to help his tackle volume this week.

Josey Jewell vs. The New England Patriots: SIT

Jewell had himself an OUTTING against the New Jets in week 4. However, he isn’t facing the Jets in week 6. He’s facing a team which ranks 2nd in pass blocking & 2nd in run blocking in the New England Patriots. If you’re expecting another 27 point outing you’ll likely have to look somewhere else.

Defensive Backs

Mike Hilton vs. The Cleveland Browns: START

Look, in real football, Mike Hilton allows a reception percentage of 76% and a QB passer rating 103.4 both of which are not good. The man gets targeted for a reason in coverage because he’s not that good. However, for fantasy football, the dude is a beast. Tallying 42 total tackles on the season, 29 of them being solo, Hilton is getting PLENTY of opportunity on the field which can only mean more opportunity to score fantasy points. He’s DB1 on the season in fantasy points per game with 19, and versus a Browns team that will more than likely be in a negative game script against the Steelers look for Hilton and his volume to produce dividends.

Bradley McDougald vs Miami Dolphins: SIT

To say that the McDougald experiment hasn’t lived up to the hype since being traded from the Seahawks is a bit of an understatement. Let’s face it, folks he’s no Jamal Adams. His fantasy point per game average places him at the DB58 with 9.1 fppg, and given the pass-heavy nature this game is likely to have look for Bradley to have a down week this week. On the flip side, his counterpart Marcus Maye…fire him up!

Defensive Linemen

Chase Winovich vs. The Denver Broncos: START

This guy has a high aptitude for getting to the ball. What do I mean by that? I mean the guy is like a windup toy car that just zooms to the ball on each play. He’s the team leader in sacks with 2.5, QB hits with 6, and tackles for a loss with 4.5. The Broncos have the 31st ranked pass-blocking unit in the NFL. You tell ME how this should turn out!

Demarcus Lawrence vs. The Arizona Cardinals: SIT

I will continue to troll this man until he proves me right. Last week was a fluke. You know it, I know it. Against a mobile QB like Kyler Murray look for Lawrence to put up a dud this week.

Thanks for reading, #4EYEDfans!

Good luck in week 6!
