Hey #4EYEDfans,

The Fantasy Playoffs Are Here!

It’s GO TIME, people! The time has arrived for you to make your best lineup decisions of the fantasy football season. While I’d normally fill in this space with some introspective piece of writing, I’m publishing this an hour before TNF kickoff. Therefore, let’s skip the rest of the pleasantries and GET DOWN TO BUSINESS!

Here are your 4-EYED STARTS & SITS For Week 14!

Quarterback

Ryan Tannehill vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: START

While coming off of a monster game against the Cleveland Browns in which he threw for a season-high of 389 yards, granted it was mostly due to negative game script, Ryan Tannehill, now, finds himself having a repeat matchup with division foe, the Jacksonville Jaguars, in Week 14. In Week 2, when last he faced the Jaguars, he put up only 239 yards through the air but threw for 4 TDs. Tannehill’s fantasy upside has never been tied to yardage, but his TD scoring efficiency. In fact, he is top four amongst quarterbacks in the NFL in TD scoring percentage, and combined with the fact the Jaguars are allowing 2nd most touchdowns scored against them per game and the 4th most fantasy points to the quarterback position it’s VERY SAFE to hitch your wagon to Tannehill in round one of the fantasy football playoffs!

Baker Mayfield vs. Baltimore Ravens: SIT

Yes, I know Baker Mayfield is coming off of his best game of the season with 334 passing yards, 4 TDs, & 28.96 fantasy points, but he’s never been that “good” against the Baltimore Ravens. In 5 games played against them, he’s averaging only 15.8 fantasy points per game. Something tells me you have better options on your waiver wire this week.

Running Back

Myles Gaskin vs. Kansas City Chiefs: START

The Dolphins didn’t waste any time inserting Myles Gaskin back into his full-time role this past Sunday. On 23 touches he racked 141 total yards on the day. The only thing that kept him out of being a borderline low-end RB1/RB2 on the week was a lost fumble. Gaskin will have a chance to redeem himself this week against a Kansas City Chiefs team that allows on average the 6th most rushing yards to opposing running back and 21.2 fantasy points per game to the position. Start him as your RB2 with confidence.

Damien Harris vs. Los Angeles Rams: SIT

While far more efficient on the ground than fellow teammate Sony Michel, Damien Harris is in a tough matchup on Thursday Night Football facing a Rams team that’s allowing on average 78 yards on the ground making Harris the epitome of a touchdown or bust candidate this week. I’d look elsewhere on your roster for a flex option, which is all he should be at this point in the season.

Wide Receiver

Corey Davis vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: START

Over the past four games, Corey Davis has been averaging 15.3 fantasy points per game on 28 targets. To put that in perspective in that past four-game time frame his 28 targets have him as the WR39, but his fantasy points per game during that same timespan have him as the WR8. He’s the 10th best-receiving option (WR/RB/TE) in terms of passer rating on passes when targeted. This week, he has a date with Jacksonville Jaguars who have allowed 34 fantasy points per game to wide receivers on the season. Ride this hot hand in Week 14.

Chase Claypool vs. Buffalo Bills: SIT/Temper Expectations

The boom or bust option for the Pittsburgh Steelers, over the past two weeks, faces a Bills defense that allows 158 receiving yards per game to the wide receiver position. To make matters worse he is slated to be covered by Tre’Davious White who has only allowed 4 TDs on the season and just 78 yards after the catch. That being said Chase Claypool still has FLEX appeal due to his ability to make deep ball catches evidenced by his team-leading aDOT of 13.45 yards, however, this week I would temper your expectations of him being able to do much after the catch. He’s truly, again, a big play or bust option this week.

Tight End

Robert Tonyan vs. Detroit Lions: START

“Mr. Funyun”, Robert Tonyan has been on a tear with double-digit fantasy point production and a TD scored over the past three weeks. He’ll look to keep that going against a Lions team allowing the 2nd most yardage and the 4th most fantasy points allowed to the position. Fire him up with confidence!

Eric Ebron vs. Buffalo Bills: SIT

Head coach Mike Tomlin came out this week and mentioned that the receiving options on the Steelers who keep dropping the ball during games are going to see fewer opportunities to do so going forward. That doesn’t bode well for Eric Ebron who leads the NFL, among tight ends, in drops with six. In what should be more of a run-heavy affair with the return of James Conner, look for Ebron to find himself buried down the depth chart of receiving options this week.

IDP CONTENT

As we do every week, when discussing IDP players we reference their fantasy point production using the FantasyPros IDP scoring rubric:

Linebackers

Dre Greenlaw vs. Washington Football Team: START

Dre Greenlaw has been playing fantastic since taking over Kwon Alexander’s role at outside linebacker. Playing nearly 100% of defensive snaps over the past 7 weeks, Greenlaw has been averaging 14.5 fantasy points per game, 7.5 tackles per game, and has even outperformed fellow linebacker, Fred Warner, in terms of solo tackle production during that timespan. With Washington coming into town with their primary running back being more of a receiving option, look for Greenlaw to rack up a number of tackles along the outside edges of the field and for him to put up solid fantasy production this week

Bobby Wagner vs. New York Jets: SIT/Temper Expectations

As I mentioned on The Fantasy Playbook Podcast (@TheFantasyPBPod on Twitter) this week, Bobby Wagner’s solo tackle production has dropped a bit since Jamal Adams has come to town thus capping his fantasy upside. While still a must-start in IDP leagues, Wagner’s expectations for total tackle output should be lowered going forward.

Defensive Backs

Troy Hill vs. New England Patriots: START

Not only has Troy Hill been averaging 5.7 total tackles per game over the past three weeks, which for a cornerback is solid, he’s also tallied a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception, and a TD during that timespan. Receiving the most targets this season among fellow cornerbacks on the team, Hill is becoming quite the asset both in real football and fantasy football. Ride the hot hand with him this week.

Darnell Savage vs. Detroit Lions: SIT

While he’s been solid as a defensive back in coverage and playing at the line of scrimmage in recent weeks, Darnell Savage’s skillset really isn’t needed much against the Lions team whose running back situation is still in flux heading into Week 14. In fact, the last time these two teams faced each other he only tallied 4 total tackles and 4.5 fantasy points. Expect more of the same this week.

Defensive Linemen/Edge Rushers

Aldon Smith vs. Cincinnati Bengals: START

With left tackle of the Bengals, Jonah Williams, being placed on injured reserve this week look for the Cowboys to exploit this mismatch with Aldon Smith. While he’s been largely been out shadowed by fellow defensive lineman Demarcus Lawrence in recent weeks, this matchup screams upside potential with him facing a backup lineman and a stationary QB. With his team-leading 73.5% snap percentage, look for Smith to terrorize this QB all day long!

Cameron Jordan vs. Philadelphia Eagles: SIT

You all know by now I don’t trust Cameron Jordan as a weekly starter in IDP. Too boom or bust. Give me Trey Hendrickson instead and leave Jordan out of your lineups!

Thanks for reading, #4EYEDfans!

Good luck in Week 14!
