Nurse Courtney with Week 11’s CPR

Hey, y’all, and welcome to the weekly CPR talk. By trade, I’m a nurse, but I love fantasy football, so why not combine the two? Each week, I want to talk about players who had a “revival” and helped your team or not because they were on the bench. If they are still on the waiver wire…you should add them!

I was out of town last week and unable to write, but no one called me out on my horrible call of the Texans vs the Jets. Well, the Jets are now back in downward spiral mode. At least my downward spiral Saints won on Sunday!

As we enter Week 11 (2024), with so many injuries, the players listed below should be suitable replacements for people dealing with both bye week and injury trouble!

Mike Gesicki-TE Bengals

I have read numerous articles saying that as soon as Higgins returns, Gesicki is out again and not worth it. Let’s get serious: TEs are going down every week (Kincaid left this week with a knee injury), and in reality, the “star” TEs haven’t hit like we all thought they would. Gesicki has been targeted around 10 times a game, and the upcoming Chargers defense has held TEs to 30ish yards, but the last 3 QBS to throw against them were Rattler, Winston, and Levis. Burrow is not those QBs. I expect Gesicki to continue to see the small yardage and use his big frame to move the chains. In this unknown world of fantasy football, I would rather have a TE tied to a higher-tier QB. Is he a play ever week, no, but the Bengals have the Cowboys and Titans after the bye. Those are juicy matchups! I’m looking at the bigger picture, not just one week.

Rashod Bateman, WR Ravens

Am I in an alternate universe, or have we been down this road before with Bateman? Yes, we have, but Lamar Jackson is rolling, and Bateman has been a happy recipient of that. Four touchdowns this season and has 500 yards to compliment. Now, is he the WR1? Nope, but in 7 out of 10 games, he has put up 7 plus PPR points. Again, we must look at the big picture of what could win you a championship. Bateman is a plug-and-play wide receiver who is catching passes from the MVP-caliber quarterback, Jackson. I want that. The Ravens’ upcoming schedule is no walk in the park, but Jackson will be throwing to keep his team on top. I like Bateman on my roster because I love Lamar!

Now is the time to outthink your league mates. Look ahead, not just week to week. Good luck, and have a great Week 11!
