IDP Waiver Wire Targets for Week 6 (2021)

Week 5 is in the books, and I can’t remember a more exciting Sunday in the NFL. I can tell you that I am very glad that I don’t have to write an article about kickers! I get the privilege of teaching all of you for which IDP Waiver Wire Gems are going to get you one step closer to that coveted fantasy championship!

Week 6 also brings us the 1st week of BYE weeks. ATL, N.O., NYJ, SF

Join me, if you will, and let’s take a look at the week that was, as well as the upcoming IDP Waiver Wire gems for Week 6!

Hits and Misses from Week 5

Randy Gregory-The end result was only 2 points. There are positives to take away tho. His 9 pressures were the most in the NFL, and his 6 hurries were the 2nd most in Week 5.

JPP-Definitely a bad week, as he only totaled 6 points. The silver lining is despite the hand injury he is playing with, he led the Bucs in pass-rush snaps.

Quinnen Williams-Generated only a 9% pressure rate, which led to a poor 4 point outing.

Christian Kirksey-Solid 21 points, which was good for 13th overall LB in Week 5. 100% of snaps and 12 tackles.

Kyzir White-Picked the wrong LAC LB. He played a lot more slot coverage as they eased Chris Harris back. Better days ahead for White in Week 6.

Pete Werner-What a stud! Wasn’t sure if he was going to see the majority of snaps, but he nearly saw 100%! Has the making of an IDP Waiver Wire Gem.

Jamin Davis-Only saw 13 snaps but put up 4 points. Hold for now

Trevon Diggs-Make that 5 INT in 5 games. 1 more in Week 6 and he ties the NFL record for consecutive games. Coincidently, he would tie Tom Landry from his playing days with the Giants. Diggs scored 20 and was the DB 14.

Quincy Williams-Was definitely the better of the brothers. Williams scored 20 on the heels of 8 tackles and 2 forced fumbles. A true IDP Waiver Wire Gem

Defensive Line

Everson Griffen-Minnesota Vikings

Coming off the heels of a 25 point performance in Week5, Everson Griffen will look to keep the momentum up in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers. Despite being 33 years young, Griffen has now collected 4 sacks over the past 3 games and gets to square off against a Panthers O-Line that just allowed 30 pressures to the Philadelphia Eagles. Griffen has a 16% pressure rate over the past 3 weeks to go along with 3 TFL and 6 QB hits.

Josh Allen-Jacksonville Jaguars

Josh Allen was a one-man wrecking machine against the Titans in Week 5. While the production didn’t lend to crazy sack numbers (.5), it is encouraging while looking ahead to Week 6. Allen put up a 20% pressure rate vs Tenn and has the fortune of facing the Miami Dolphins and their turnstile Offensive Line.

Linebacker

David Long-Tennessee Titans

We all knew that David Long was eating into Jayon Brown’s snaps, but he is firmly entrenched as the starting LB in Tenn after getting at least 98% of the snaps since Week 2. Long was the LB4 in Week 5 and will look to keep the production going in a prime matchup against the Buffalo Bills!

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah-Cleveland Browns

We finally got what we wanted…JOK with 90% of the snaps! JOK now has 3 straight games with double-digit points, despite the limited snaps. Week 6 brings the Arizona Cardinals into town, and the injury-depleted Browns are going to lean on JOK pretty heavily. The Cardinals aren’t the most generous to opposing LB, but this is definitely a rest-of-season pick-up. Don’t also be discouraged to put in a claim despite the throat contusion that he suffered in Week 5.

Drue Tranquill-Los Angeles Chargers

Kyzir White was a recommendation IDP Waiver Wire additionlast week, and I have to take a look at Tranquill for Week 6. As I mentioned above in the “Hits and Misses”, White was asked to play in coverage a little more, but I expect both to be heavily involved against this run-heavy Baltimore Ravens. Tranquill has 11 total tackles in Week 5 vs CLE and could post similar numbers in Week 6. If only the Chargers were consistent with their LB snap percentages.

Kevin Minter-Tampa Bay Buccanneers

Unfortunately, it appears that Lavonte David is going to miss a few weeks with what has been called a “lower ankle sprain”. Kevin Minter was the recipient of the lost snaps following the injury in Week 5 and looks to get the nod in Week 6. I expect the Eagles to pick on the area in the middle that Minter is going to man, especially on short rest. Minter hasn’t gotten a lot of play over the past few years but did have 9 tackles in Week 17 last year when filling in.

Defensive Back

Taron Johnson-Buffalo Bills

Taron Johnson is not the typical defensive back that a fantasy manager would be looking to roster. The slot corner, by definition, is usually not involved heavily enough to be a difference-maker. Johnson, on the other hand, is used in nearly 100% of the snaps, in a multitude of ways! Johnson’s biggest value is definitely against pass-happy teams, but he has 3 games of 20+ points on the season. I would also like to mention that he is a DB1 in only 4 games played.

Jalen Thompson-Arizona Cardinals

Jalen Thompson doesn’t care if you know his name or not, but it’s about time that we do! Thompson has put together 4-straight double-digit performances and will look to make it 5 against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns have been pretty generous to opposing safeties, and I like this matchup for Thompson.

Thank You for reading and I hope that you strike Gold with these IDP Waiver Wire gems.
