IDP Waiver Wire Targets for Week 14 (2021)

IDP Waiver Wire Targets for Week 14 (2021)

Each week at Fantasy In Frames, we get you ready as we give you our weekly recap of our hits and misses from the week. Let's get you ready for this week by listing the IDP Waiver Wire Targets for Week 14 of the 2021 fantasy football season!

The NFL fantasy season is an unruly beast that has no concern for our fantasy lineups. Week 14 is upon us, and the list of injuries continues to mount. In addition to the injuries, the seemingly endless list of teams on a BYE rears its' ugly head again this week. Alas, I am here for you each week to serve as a guiding light being shone in the murky IDP waiver wire waters.

As I mentioned above, the injuries in Week 13 and the Week 14 BYES are obstacles we need to overcome. Let's take a look at some of the injuries to monitor for Week 14:

  • Joey Bosa-Concussion-Was able to return, so optimistic he won't miss time
  • Logan Wilson-Dislocated Shoulder-Longterm injury
  • Richie Grant-Ankle-Day to Day
  • Cory Littleton-Neck-Day to Day
  • Denzel Perryman-Ankle-Day to Day
  • Jamal Adams-Shoulder-Day to Day
  • Jaquiski Tartt-Ankle-Returned to action

BYE Weeks:

  • IND
  • MIA
  • N.E.
  • PHI

Before we take a look at the waiver wire gems, let's sift through last weeks' picks and see which was 24K and which was fools' gold!

HITS AND MISSES

Jaelan Phillips- Had a difficult matchup on paper, but turned in an amazing performance. 3 Solo, 2 Tackles for Loss, 2 Sacks, and 2 QB Hits = 24 fantasy points (LB12 on the week). HIT

DeMarcus Lawrence-Returned from injury and immediately made an impact on the field (6 pressures-21% pressure rate). While the 6 pressures and 5 hurries didn't equate to fantasy production, the upside is there! MISS on the week, WIN moving forward.

Mykal Walker-Deion Jones returned and relegated Walker to a bench role...MISS

Jeremiah Owusu Koramoah-Was on a BYE, but will get the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14. If you picked him up, I feel like it's a WIN for Week 14.

Eric Murray-Absolutely terrible week by Murray. He played a ton of snaps, and a lot in the box, but didn't result in any production. I am sorry! MISS

Week 14

Carl Granderson-New Orleans Saints

The Saints were already thin at DE, but now we add in the news that Cam Jordan tested positive for COVID. This just assures us that we can expect a ton of snaps out of Granderson in Week 14 vs the Jets. Granderson had a tough assignment with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13 but did register 4 pressures, 3 hurries, and a QB hit.

Looking ahead to Week 14, Granderson should be licking his chops with the Jets. The Jets have allowed the 7th most sacks on the season and don't pose much of a threat to play with the lead.

Uchenna Nwosu-Los Angeles Chargers

Uchenna Nwosu is really playing at a high level right now. Add in the fact that Joey Bosa left with a concussion, and the attention will be pointed Nwosu's way. While the early reports are that Bosa could have returned, the fact of the matter is that he didn't. Monitor his status during the week, but the recommendation for this week is based on Nwosu's performance, not Bosa's concussion.

Over the past month, Nwosu ranks 9th in the NFL in pressures and is tied for 6th with 3 sacks. In addition, he has forced 2 fumbles, recovered 1, and 9 tackles for loss. The Chargers will face the Giants who have allowed 68 pressures over the past 3 games. Last week, Nwosu had a 19% pressure rate (7 pressures)! With Daniel Jones on the mend, we could see another Mike Glennon game, which could bode well for Nwosu!

Germaine Pratt-Cincinatti Bengals

Coming from a Logan Wilson fan, this recommendation isn't a fun one. Wilson dislocated his shoulder in Week 13's matchup against the Chargers and is awaiting results from an MRI to determine severity. In his absence, it was Germaine Pratt who really stepped up and made an impact. In the past, we haven't known which Pratt was going to show up, but given the opportunity, there is a plug-and-play scenario for Pratt moving forward.

Pratt and the Bengals will host the 49ers, one of the league's most run-happy teams. In Week 13, Germaine Pratt received PFF's highest run tackling grade among LB's.

I also want to pay attention to Joe Bachie. Bachie stepped up in the absence of Logan Wilson and had a really nice game. It will be something worth paying attention to.

Divine Deablo-Las Vegas Raiders

Who is Divine Deablo? Unfortunately for Raiders' fans, we will get a chance to know him a little better if both Denzel Perryman and Cory Littleton were to miss time. At the time of writing, both are considered day-to-day but monitor the reports moving forward.

Last week, Deablo stepped in and played really well against the Football Team. His 11 tackles (1 on ST), were 2nd on the team. While Deablo was solid in run defense (2nd on the team with 2 run stops), his coverage ability could use some fine tuning. While this may not be something Raiders' fans would love, IDP managers can rejoice! While Deablo allowed all 4 of his targets to turn into catches, he recorded 3 tackles on those 4 targets!

In Week 14, the Raiders will travel to Arrowhead to face the Chiefs. The Chiefs have seen their once explosive offense relegated to a series of short to intermediate passes and run plays. If the Raiders' defense gives KC these same looks, expect a very solid game out of Deablo.

Nick Vigil-Minnesota Vikings

It was just a mere 48 hours ago when I recommended Vigil as one of my IDP matchups to exploit, with the news of Kendricks and Barr. I had him "firmly" in my LB2 rankings, and I even fell short in my expectations, as he finished the week as the LB9.

This week, the Vikings will host the Steelers, in what should be a back and forth matchup. The obvious key to this IDP Waiver Wire addition would be the health of both Kendricks and Barr. If they are out, Vigil again would be in my LB2 rankings, with the upside to replicate Week 13. The Vikings could be without Adam Thielen and might lead to a more run-happy attack by the Steelers.

Ryan Neal-Seattle Seahawks

This is another IDP Waiver Wire add based on unknown knowledge at the time. Jamal Adams suffered a shoulder injury in Week 13 and did not return to the game. It is still unknown his status for Week 14, but in the case that he doesn't play, Ryan Neal is an easy add.

Filling in for Adams, Ryan Neal chipped in 5 tackles on 34 snaps. Neal has shown at times that when filling in and getting significant snaps, he can produce solid fantasy value. For instance, during Weeks 4-8 in 2019, Neal saw >70% of the snaps and averaged 17fppg.

That will do it for my IDP Waiver Wire Targets for Week 14. As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me at:
