IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 7

IDP Waiver Wire Week 7 2022 Fantasy In Frames

Many people will assume that a fantasy championship is won on draft day, but I am here to tell you that it is most definitely not! While you can set yourself up very well on draft day, the Waiver Wire will be the key ingredient to your championship stew! Each week I will bring you my collection of players that should be available in over 50% of leagues. While the true roster % of IDP leagues is difficult to tabulate, I will do my best to ensure we are ahead of the curve. Let’s get down to our IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 7.

Defensive Line/Edge Rusher

Quinnen Williams (New York Jets)

Quinnen Williams is quietly entering the elite category of DT who we are comfortable playing as our DL. Over the past two weeks, Williams has generated 12 pressures, the 4th most in the NFL. We have to go back to Week 1 to find a week that Quinnen didn’t have at least a 1/2 sack. It’s safe to say that Williams isn’t just a sack or bust DL, seeing as he has at least three tackles in the past five games and incredibly has 3+ solo tackles in four of the five games.

The Jets will face the Denver Broncos in Week 7 and look to carry the offensive momentum into the matchup. We got a good glimpse into the Jets’ pass rush when they had a lead and could see decent snaps. This is written before the Broncos play the Chargers on MNF, but if there is an area to exploit across the Broncos’ O-Line, it is up the middle. D’Forest Buckner had a great game in Week 5, and I like Williams’ opportunity this upcoming week!

Arnold Ebiketie (Atlanta Falcons)

As Brett Kollman said, “Arnold Ebiketie is going to be stupid good!” I was certain that this statement would refer to the later weeks of the season, not as early as Week 6. Here we are! Last week, Ebiketie finally started due to an injured Ogundeji and made it clear that he is here to stay. Ebiketie turned 28 pass-rush snaps into six pressures and was a step away from tacking on a couple of sacks.

Ebiketie and the Falcons will have the pleasure of lining up opposite the Bengals, most notably Jonah Williams. The ideal scenario would be for Ebiketie to play predominantly at ROLB, where he saw his most snaps in Week 6. The matchup would be ideal against Jonah Williams, who has allowed the 5th most pressures (19) on the season.

Honorable Mentions:

Deatrich Wise (New England Patriots)– Was mentioned a few weeks ago and has continued to exert his dominance on opposing O-Lines. The Patriots play the Bears on Monday night, which should be a great chance at a big night!

Tyquan Lewis (Indianapolis Colts)– Has quietly had eight pressures over the past two weeks. He gets the opportunity to play the Titans in Week 7. The Titans have struggled to protect Tannehill, especially after the loss to Taylor Lewan.

Samson Ebukam (SF 49ers)– With Bosa out, the 49ers were looking for someone to step up and provide some support for the defense. Ebukam has been that man for the past few weeks. In Week 4, he did his best Bosa impersonation with two sacks, 1 FF, and four tackles. With only 14 pass rush opportunities this past week, he focused on stopping the run. As a result, Samson was 3rd on the team with eight tackles (2 TFLs).

Pay attention to Ebukam’s Achilles, as he is listed as Day to Day, but it appears he should be good to go against the Chiefs. It’s the Week 8 matchup vs the Rams that I look the most forward to!

Linebackers

Troy Anderson (Atlanta Falcons)

We will have to monitor the updates regarding Mykal Walker heading into Week 7. I imagine Anderson will be a very popular name on waivers, but just know that it could be tricky in Atl if Walker can suit up. When Walker was out tho, in Week 6, both Anderson and Rashaan Evans played 100% of the snaps. Anderson absolutely made the most of his opportunity in a stunning upset against the 49ers. Troy had 12 tackles (6 solos), and paced the Falcons in coverage tackles with 8!

If you have the space to afford it, I think Anderson would be a great addition to your roster, especially in Week 7. The Bengals present an opportunity for Anderson to be highly targeted again and rack up double-digit tackles. Stay tuned throughout the week as we keep our eyes and ears glued to the status of Walker.

Zaven Collins (Arizona Cardinals)

Zaven Collins led the Cardinals in tackles for the second time in the past three weeks and got his first two sacks of his young career in Week 6. Collins is certainly the only LB to roster in a world full of uncertainty with the Cardinals’ LBs. For the 3rd consecutive week, Collins has played in 100% of the snaps. As mentioned earlier, he has turned those snaps into team-leading tackle production.

Most notable may be the fact that he is getting excellent pass-rush opportunities. As of Week 6, Collins is tied with Devin White and Patrick Queen for the most LB pass-rush snaps. He has turned those snaps into two sacks and six pressures. While still a work in progress at rushing the passer, his upcoming matchups could be a solid return. Especially if the return of DeAndre Hopkins gets this offense back in gear!

Honorable Mention:

Germaine Pratt (Cincinnatti Bengals)– Logan Wilson was forced out of Week 6’s contest with a shoulder injury. Pratt has often shown flashes, most recently this past week with 14 tackles. On the season, Pratt has four games with at least eight tackles. The Bengals will host the Falcons in Week 7.

Zaire Franklin (Indianapolis Colts)– I will keep adding his name to this list until he is taken seriously. Is he Shaq Leonard? No! Has he performed as an LB1 in his absence? Yes! Franklin now has double-digit scoring in the past five games.

Defensive Back

Rayshawn Jenkins (Jacksonville Jaguars)-

Jenkins is starting to remind me of the Rayshawn I saw last year when he was getting most of the box snaps from the Safety position. Over the past two weeks, Jenkins has seen 100% of the snaps and has responded with 12 tackles in Week 5 and 8 in Week 6, resulting in a 14% tackle rate over that span.

Jenkins had another standout performance in Week 6 against the Colts. That makes it back-to-back solid games, resulting in 20 tackles (14 solos) with a pass breakup and a near-sack of Matt Ryan, resulting in an intentional grounding penalty.

Honorable Mentions

Damar Hamlin (Buffalo Bills)- With the Bills on BYE in Week 7, Hamlin will likely just sit on the waiver wire. If you have the roster depth, go ahead and scoop him up. He may not have Micah Hyde’s athletic abilities, but he has been playing well for the Bills. Over the past three weeks, he has recorded at least seven tackles in each game.

C.J Gardner-Johnson (Philadelphia Eagles)- Like Hamlin, Gardner-Johnson and the Eagles will be on a BYE in Week 7. CJGJ has been electric on the season, but most notably in the past two weeks against the Cowboys and Cardinals. This past week he came up huge in the divisional win as he picked off two Cooper Rush passes, deflected another two, and chipped in four tackles. In Week 5, he was a tackling machine, recording ten solos and a TFL. As mentioned before, if you have the space, it’s never a bad idea to have a player who has already had their BYE week for the upcoming BYE weeks.

DeShon Elliott (Detroit Lions)– Go check your waivers for Elliott. Since the Lions were on a BYE in Week 6, there is a chance that he may still be lingering. No DB has had more solo tackles across their past three games than Elliott. (2nd on that list is the aforementioned Damar Hamlin).
