IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 14

IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 14 (2022) Fantasy In Frames

Welcome to our Week 14 IDP Waiver Wire article this season!

For most fantasy leagues, Week 14 is the final week of the regular season.  Regardless of your league settings, this week is a pivotal one full of landmines.  The injuries suffered in Week 13 will leak into Week 14.  Here is a list of some of the notable injuries:

  • David Long (Tennessee Titans)
  • Sione Takitaki (Cleveland Browns)
  • Leonard Williams (NY Giants)
  • Patrick Queen (Baltimore Ravens)

The list of injuries on the season is nearing CVS receipt length.  And if that wasn’t long enough, we can add the BYE week list of teams and those players we will be without.

  • Falcons-Rashaan Evans, Richie Grant
  • Bears-Jack Sanborn,
  • Packers-DeVondre Campbell, Quay Walker, Adrian Amos
  • Colts-D’Forest Buckner/Grover Stewart, Zaire Franklin. Bobby Okereke
  • Saints-Cameron Jordan, Demario Davis
  • Commanders-D-Line/Jamin Davis/Kamren Curl

Let’s get down to business and discuss some IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 14!

Defensive Line/Edge Rusher

Chandler Jones (Las Vegas Raiders)

I hope I don’t regret this suggestion, but considering how his season has gone, I have no idea what to expect. For the first 12 weeks of the season, Jones had only recorded .5 sacks and was highly regarded of one of the worst off-season signings!  As we look at the past two weeks (SEA/LAC), he is tops in the NFL in pressures (19), 4th in win rate (22.4%), and just turned in a game for the ages (which he does every year).  Jones recorded six tackles, three sacks, and a deflected pass.

I realize that the worst thing to do is make a top waiver claim off of an outlier game, but this does have some traction.  As mentioned above, he has now had back-to-back weeks with elite pressures and win rate; he just didn’t get the sacks in Week 12.  This week, Jones and the Raiders will face the Rams and possibly the worst offensive line in football.  Maxx Crosby will have a field day, but there is a great chance that Jones keeps his hot streak alive and delivers another DL1/DL2 week!

Uchenna Nwosu (Seattle Seahawks)

Nwosu was the focus of our “Shake it Off” segment in our podcast, “Shoot the Gap,” and we believed Nwosu was due to break out of his slump.  I’m happy to say that we were correct, and Nwosu gets to keep the success going when they play the Panthers in Week 14.  As discussed on the podcast, Nwosu had back-to-back off-weeks (2 pressures) after stringing together 20 pressures over the previous four weeks.

Last week, Nwosu played the lowly Rams (pick on the Rams’ O-Line as discussed above) but can have continued success against the Carolina Panthers.  Look for the Seahawks to establish a lead and allow Nwosu to pin his ears back and get at the Baker Mayfield-less Panthers.

Honorable Mention or Previously Mentioned:

Michael Hoecht (Los Angeles Rams)–  Sean McVay says he recognized Hoecht could be a good edge defender about two weeks ago.  Over the past two weeks, Hoecht has recorded seven pressures, two sacks, three QB hits, and a tackle for loss.

Jaelan Phillips (Miami Dolphins)- In shallow leagues, you may pick up Jaelan Phillips. I love the matchup in Week 14 vs. the Chargers. While Trey Pipkins may not have been a pro bowler at RT, amazingly, the Chargers would rather have him return in Week 14 vs. starting Foster Sarell again.

Linebackers

Nakobe Dean (Philadelphia Eagles)

Nakobe Dean would absolutely be a starting linebacker on 25+ teams if he wasn’t drafted by the Eagles. In just 15 snaps on Sunday, Dean led the team in tackles with six (1 TFL), drew a holding call, and tackled Derrick Henry with one arm. While the Derrick Henry tackle doesn’t count for bonus points, it is worth noting.

This suggestion is merely a play if you have the depth and are looking for someone who could be a league-winner. It would require the Eagles to demote Kyzir White, which won’t be happening, but in the case of an injury, he would be a waiver-wire gem. With the playoffs just around the corner, now is the time to have at least one roster dedicated to upside.

Tony Fields II (Cleveland Browns)

Unfortunately, this suggestion is the result of Sione Takitaki’s ACL injury. With Takitaki out for the season, the Browns will look to fill the 75+% snap share he has had since Week 8.

I will be the first to say that Fields isn’t the highest-upside linebacker on waivers, but he does possess the best playoff matchup, in my opinion. From Week 14-17, the Browns will get the Bengals, Ravens, Saints, and Commanders. All four of these teams are in the Top 10 of scoring to the linebacker position. In limited snaps over the past three weeks, Fields does possess a 14% tackle rate and returned an INT for a TD last week.

There is always a chance that the opportunity will go back to Deion Jones, but I am going out on a limb and assuming the Browns will see what they got with the young linebacker. PFF graded Fields as the 4th highest LB in Week 13!

Honorable Mention or Previously Mentioned:

Jamin Davis (Washington Commanders)- Davis has really taken the reigns with Holcomb being out. Coming off his best game in Week 13 (10 tackles-1 fumble recovery), Davis is firmly in the must-start territory.

Chad Muma (Jacksonville Jaguars)- I thought that the Jags would split up the workload between Muma and Lloyd, but I was wrong. Muma was given another heavy workload (76%) before he left the game with an ankle injury. Before the injury, Muma was having a career day (11 tackles-1.5 sacks) The ankle may be enough reason to keep his price low, assuming he is available. Fingers crossed that the injury is as minor as they are making it sound.

Malik Harrison (Baltimore Ravens)- With Patrick Queen being carted off the field in Week 13, we should probably consider who would be the “next man up.” Harrison has been the only LB to see snaps outside of Roquan and Queen since Week 8. The early report is that it is only a deep thigh bruise, and Queen should be ok. If he misses time, the Ravens will face the Steelers in Week 14, which could be a solid matchup.

Defensive Back

Jason Pinnock (New York Giants)

The Giants have given Pinnock the keys to their Free Safety role over the past two weeks. Pinnock has seen a 95% snap share during that time and has responded with 11 tackles and a deflected pass. Pinnock’s teammate, Julian Love, is getting all the “love” among IDP circles. That being said, the matchup in Week 14 is a juicy one for Pinnick, as the Eagles are the 3rd most generous team to opposing safeties. While most of the time, the strong safety is doing the scoring, the Eagles have benefitted the player in deep coverage most notably!

Camryn Bynum (Minnesota Vikings)

Bynum has been a very solid play at DB over the past three weeks with 18 tackles, three deflected passes, and an INT. With offenses looking to target Bynum often (partly due to the insane number of snaps he has been playing in coverage), the upside for production like he had in Week 13 is apparent. Bynum has tallied seven tackles in two of the past three games and can produce in coverage or against the run, where his nine run-play tackles are good for Top 20 over the past three weeks

With the Lions on the docket for Week 14 and so many teams on a BYE, Bynum could be a solid replacement in a game that could see plenty of downfield targets.

Honorable Mention and Previously Mentioned:

Julian Love (New York Giants)-  He is just a stud! The #1 DB in the league since Week 10.

Juan Thornhill (Kansas City Chiefs)- Ten tackles in Week 13. Thornhill was all around the ball and will continue to be leaned on by the youth in the secondary.
