Welcome to our fourth IDP Waiver Wire article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!
As I did for Week 3, I will use Fantasy Pros Expert Consensus Rankings to base my weekly recommendations for players to roster. I believe using this method of identifying waiver recommendations will benefit people in newbie leagues all the way through to the more advanced IDP-playing fantasy managers. Here are my IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 4 (2023) recommendations.
Byron Young
Week 4 ECR Rankings: DL58
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL41 (8.8 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- Second only to Aaron Donald in terms of pressures along the Rams’ defensive line per PFF, Byron Young leads the Rams with 2 sacks and 7 QB hits on the season. He is, also, second on the entire team in solo tackles three weeks into the season, giving him a solid fantasy point floor each week at the position.
- He and Aaron Donald are the two most efficient pass rushers in terms of win rate and pressure rate.
- Those looking to fill some holes on their rosters at the DL spot should consider rostering Young before he really starts to take off this season.
Kwity Paye
Week 4 ECR Rankings: DL19
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL12 (15.0 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- Paye continues taking steps towards fringe DL1 territory in terms of consensus rankings with another impressive performance on Sunday, where he tallied another three solo tackle, one TFL, and one sack performance.
- While his efficiency metrics weren’t as high as other members of the D-Line in Week 3, he still leads the team in total pressures and sacks on the season, per PFF.
- Paye is the DL3 on the season with a Fantasy Pros scoring average of 15.3 PPG
Mike Danna
Week 4 ECR Rankings: DL21
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL24 (11.0 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- While George Karlaftis and Chris Jones are the talk of the defensive line in Kansas City, Mike Danna leads all defensive linemen on the Chiefs in sacks, QB Hits, and solo tackles on the season while boasting the second-highest pressure rate in Week 3
- With Karlaftis and Jones commanding a lot of the pass-blocking attention, Danna finds himself in a good spot to take advantage of one-on-one pressure opportunities.
Jamin Davis
Week 4 ECR Rankings: LB44
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB25 (14.3 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- PFF’s highest-graded linebacker on the Commanders, Jamin Davis, and his 0% missed tackle rate and sub-100 NFL passer rating allowed on the season put up 11 total tackles and one PD in Week 3.
- Out of both starting linebackers for the Commanders, Davis’ efficiency in terms of maintaining consistent fantasy performances going forward makes me more comfortable putting in a waiver claim for him….that being said my next linebacker suggestion heading into Week 4 is…….
Cody Barton
Week 4 ECR Rankings: LB25
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB22 (15.0 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- This is a gross recommendation but a necessary one as Barton plays 100% of snaps for the Commanders, as he did on Sunday with a 17.6% tackle rate, per PFF.
- While he doesn’t grade “well” from a pure football-playing standpoint, especially in run support…he gets tackles, which is most of what we want for IDP.
Brian Branch
Week 4 ECR Rankings: DB34
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB2 (27.0 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- Playing a majority of snaps at slot cornerback in Week 3, it was Brian Branch’s team-leading number of box snaps that led to his 11 solo tackles, 3 TFLs, and 2 PD performance this week.
- When it comes to defensive backs, you either luck out with a player who plays a majority of the time close to the line of scrimmage or one that makes plays EVERYWHERE and gets you fantasy points from a number of ways. Branch appears to be the latter.
- As your DB3/IDP FLEX, swing for the upside with him as long as C.J. Gardner Johnson is out on IR.
K’Von Wallace
Week 4 ECR Rankings: DB18
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB57 (9.8 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- Playing 100% of snaps and a team-leading 58% of snaps in the box on Sunday versus the Cowboys, per PFF, K’von Wallace is in the right time, space, and place to really take off for IDP managers while Budda Baker is out. Snatch him up before it’s too late.
Amani Hooker
Week 4 ECR Rankings: DB67
Week 3’s Fantasy Point Finish: D22 (15.0 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)
- Leading the team in tackles and defensive snap percentage, Amani Hooker appeared to pick right back from where he left off in Week 1 for IDP managers.
- Consider him the “Josh Metellus” of safeties. All it’ll take is a few more snaps closer to the line of scrimmage, and all of a sudden we’ll have DB2/3 opportunities for your defensive back spot on your IDP roster.
