IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 3 (2023)

IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 3 (2023) | Fantasy In Frames

Welcome to our third IDP Waiver Wire article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!

As I did for Week 2, I will use Fantasy Pros Expert Consensus Rankings to base my weekly recommendations for players to roster. I believe using this method of identifying waiver recommendations will benefit people in newbie leagues all the way through to the more advanced IDP-playing fantasy managers. With that said, here are my IDP Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 3 (2023) recommendations.

Chase Young

Week 3 ECR Rankings: DL47

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL16 (12.3 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • Yes, the homer in me is slightly coming out here, but after 2 QB Hit, 1.5 sack, 3 total tackles, and 1 tackle for a loss performance in his first game returning to action this season, both Chase Young and Montez Sweat looked like the formidable tandem at EDGE DL like they did down the stretch of Young’s rookie year.
  • According to PFF, Young’s win rate against his offensive linemen counterparts was the highest on the team. Also, both he and Sweat dominated passing down snap share on Sunday.
  • Snatch him up off of waivers and see if he delivers again in Week 3. If he does, we could be talking about an every week start.

George Karlaftis

Week 3 ECR Rankings: DL28

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: DL17 (12.3 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • Karlaftis continues to impress this season with a 13.2% pressure and win rate, per PFF
  • In Week 2, Karlaftis posted 4 total tackle, 2 QB Hit, 1.5 sack, and 1 TFL performance against the Jaguars. As long as he’s able to maintain his tackle floor, he should be able to produce solid DL2 numbers for you.
  • If he’s still available in your IDP leagues, I would pick him up asap.

Robert Spillane

Week 3 ECR Rankings: LB47

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB5 (23.8 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • To quote Rodney Dangerfield, ” What does a guy gotta do to get some respect around here?”
  • Robert Spillane continues to command an every down snap role for the Raiders linebacking corps with his solid 15.4% tackle efficiency in Week 2, per PFF.
  • On Sunday, he posted 14 total tackles, 1 Sack, TFL, and QB hit on the day.
  • While his 20%+ missed tackle rate on Sunday is concerning, no one is coming to take his job anytime soon, making him a must-add and start player on your IDP roster.

Ivan Pace, Jr

Week 3 ECR Rankings: LB51

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB45 (11.8 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • The snaps keep increasing and increasing for the University of Cincinnati alum, where last week against the Eagles, Ivan Pace, Jr, posted 8 total tackles, 1 QB Hit, and half a sack.
  • While his 3rd down snape share isn’t as high as one would like compared to a player with a high every down role, his numbers are trending in the right direction to the point that by midway through the season you’ll be kicking yourself that you didn’t roster him sooner.

Derrick Barnes

Week 3 ECR Rankings: LB73

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: LB64 (8.3 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • While everyone is waiting for the Jack Campbell experiment to take off in Detroit, let’s not overlook the role Derrick Barnes is having from a performance perspective.
  • At middle linebacker in Week 2, it was Barnes who had the higher tackle efficiency than fellow starter Alex Anzalone. While Barnes didn’t make any splashy plays on the day, he was consistent and has been very consistent with his performances all season.
  • If you’re looking for a short-term fix in your LB3/IDP Flex spot, don’t overlook Barnes this week and going forward.

Jevon Holland

Week 3 ECR Rankings: DB14

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB10 (16.8 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • Jevon Holland continues to dominate Box snaps for the Dolphins’ safety group and led all players on the team with 11 total tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 PD.
  • He is approaching elite territory among defensive backs this year, and if he is available on your league’s waiver wire tonight, make sure he isn’t tomorrow.

K’Von Wallace

Week 3 ECR Rankings: DB54

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB63 (9.8 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • 64.7% of box snaps this past week by far and away, made Wallace the new de facto tackle machine in the defensive backfield for the Cardinals then and moving forward with Budda Baker going on IR yesterday.
  • He had a solid game with 8 total tackles with only a 11.1% missed tackle rate.
  • The opportunity is there for him to really produce while Baker misses time. If you’re the Baker manager or need a short-term fix at DB, put in a claim for Wallace today.

Camryn Bynum

Week 3 ECR Rankings: DB43

Week 2’s Fantasy Point Finish: DB7 (18.3 Points in Fantasy Pros Scoring)

  • Bynum continued to impress last week against Philly with a 15 total tackle and 1 TFL performance.
  • His sub 10% missed tackle efficiency is encouraging, but the increased usage of last week’s waiver wire target, Josh Metellus, in the box could pose problems for Bynum’s upside down the stretch of the season.
  • That notwithstanding, he has been very consistent for fantasy purposes in back-to-back weeks and should at least be rostered on your team.
