Welcome to our second IDP Start & Sit article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!
Hey everyone, it’s Nate Marcum (@natemarcum on Twitter/X). Whether you’re newer to IDP or have been playing for years, my goal of these starts and sits is to provide you with stud picks I’m a huge fan of each week, from your top-tier players to play in your shallow leagues down to deeper league options. However, with the good picks come the ones I am less high on that you should consider alternatives for each week. You can check out my back-to-back Top 10 Fantasy Pros ECR Competition rankings here at Fantasy In Frames weekly to help give you the winning edge to your weekly matchups! Here are my IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 2 (2023).
Starts
Aidan Hutchinson (DET): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: DL6
- Seven pressures last week despite zero sacks
- Seattle placed RT Abraham Lucas on IR, and starting LT, Charles Cross, is unlikely to suit up.
- Detroit’s offense should keep Seattle’s run game in check.
- James Houston’s relentless attack on the opposite side should cause fits for Seattle O-line
Khalil Mack (LAC): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: DL33
- Six pressures despite zero sacks
- Tennessee’s LT, Andre Dillard, allowed six pressures last week vs NO
- The game script should see another pass-heavy week for Tenn
Dexter Lawrence (NYG): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: DL33
- Ideal start for DT leagues
- Played exceptionally well despite a blowout loss to the Cowboys
- Arizona’s interior O-Line, notably Elijah Wilkinson, allowed five pressures last week to WSH.
Sit
Carl Granderson (NO): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: DL42
- Coming off of a monster game in Week 1 against a poor Titans O-line
- Carolina LT Ikem Ekwonu was the 17th highest-graded Tackle per PFF, allowing only one pressure in Week 1
Start
Kaden Elliss (ATL): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: LB29
- Troy Anderson trending in the wrong direction due to a concussion.
- Ellis’ familiarity with the Ryan Nielsen system is evident in last week’s nine-tackle performance.
- Green Bay just allowed 25 tackles to the LB position in Week 1
De’Vondre Campbell (GB): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: LB20
- Quay Walker another potential concussion casualty for Week 2
- Limited LB depth (of quality) provides an elevated floor and tremendous ceiling for Campbell.
- Defensive line capable of creating sight lines for heavy run-play tackles for Campbell.
Demario Davis (NO): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: LB35
- Underrated LB entering Week 2
- Carolina allowed 20 tackles to ILB in Week 1
- Davis’ 1st 10 tackle performance since 2021
Germaine Pratt (CIN): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: LB39
- Impressive 11 tackle (2 TFL) performance in Week 1.
- Baltimore provided 21 tackles to LBs in Week 1
- 89% snap share in Week 1, with no competition for snaps
Sit
Dre Greenlaw (SF): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: LB13
- A groin injury suffered in Week 1 does not appear serious, but a reduced workload could be in store against a hapless Rams team.
- Groin injuries are notorious for re-aggravation.
Start
Julian Blackmon (IND): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: DB34
- 56% of his snaps in Week 1 were in the box!
- I expect Hou to involve Dameon Pierce much more in Week 2, leading to a solid tackle floor.
Sit
Jordan Whitehead (NYJ): Fantasy Pros ECR Ranking: DB54
- Only saw 3 box snaps (4%)
- Three interception performance of course an outlier, but only 2 tackles (1 solo)
