IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 13 (2023)
Welcome to our thirteenth IDP Start & Sit article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!
Hey everyone, it’s Nate Marcum!. Whether you’re newer to IDP or have been playing for years, my goal of these starts and sits is to provide you with stud picks I’m a huge fan of each week, from your top-tier players to play in your shallow leagues down to deeper league options. However, with the good picks come the ones I am less high on that you should consider alternatives for each week. You can check out my back-to-back Top 10 Fantasy Pros ECR Competition rankings here at Fantasy In Frames weekly to help give you the winning edge to your weekly matchups! Here are my IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 13 (2023).
Starts
Andrew Van Ginkel (MIA) @ WSH
- Jaelan Phillips’ injury opens up snaps on the edge
- In games without Phillips, Van Ginkel has delivered and given fantasy owners DL1 performances
- Washington’s O-Line has allowed an incredible 55 sacks (2nd to NYG)
- 18% pressure rate/17% win rate in games w/out Phillips
Byron Young (LAR) v CLE
- Cleveland has been destroyed by injuries and has been a top-five team for opposing DEs.
- Byron Young is 9th in the NFL among DL/DE in snaps.
Derrick Brown (CAR) @ TB
- Derrick Brown is 2nd among DL in solo tackles.
- Tampa Bay has allowed the 5th most points to opposing DTs
- Brown has seen increasing snaps on the end (alongside Brian Burns) and has seen his pressure rate double over the past month.
Sit
Sam Hubbard (CIN) v JAX
- Jacksonville has been increasingly tough in pass protection, allowing the fewest pressures over the past month.
- Hubbard’s value isn’t directly tied to sacks but is reliant upon a solid tackle floor. Jacksonville is middle of the pack in tackles allowed to defensive linemen.
- With Travis Etienne banged up (ribs), we could see more passing work, limiting the tackle ceiling.
Chase Young (SF) @ PHI
- True “sack-or-bust” since joining the 49ers
- Philadelphia should get Lane Johnson back for Week 13
- The Tackle floor has been nearly non-existent.
Cameron Jordan (NO) v DET
- I am avoiding any player who has to line up opposite Penei Sewell
Start
David Long (MIA) v WSH
- In games without Jaelan Phillips, David Long has seen an increase in snaps.
- With the increase in snaps, Long had turned them into IDP gold.
- Long totaled 26 tackles (2 TFL), one sack and a FF.
- Long was the LB13, averaging 16.3 fppg, without Phillips.
Derrick Barnes (DET) @ N.O
- Should wear the green dot with Anzalone set to miss “some time.”
- Barnes should see plenty of Alvin Kamara, which works in Barnes’ favor. Barnes has a 21% tackle rate on run plays in 2023.
Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (CLE) @ LAR
- Has now seen three straight games with >80% snap share.
- The Rams leaned heavily on Kyren Williams in his return and could look to do the same.
- J.O.K. is PFF’s 7th highest-graded LB in run defense and is 10th in “stops.”
Sit
Devin Loyd (JAX) v Cin
- Cincinnati’s offense will likely putter without Joe Burrow.
- Linebackers haven’t been scoring heavily vs. Cincy w/out Burrow.
- Foye Oluokon and Loyd will cannibalize each others’ tackles
Devin White (TB) v CAR
- Inefficiency has relegated White to an LB4
- Outscored by rookie SirVocea Dennis in Week 12
- Panthers 25th in points allowed to LB
Isaiah McDuffie (GB) v KC
- DeVondre Campbell is on track to play in Week 13
- With both Campbell and Quay Walker in the lineup, McDuffie will be back to the bench.
Start
Trent McDuffie (KC) @ GB
- McDuffie has seen the majority of slot/nickel coverage.
- Green Bay has prioritized the slot consistently.
- McDuffie leads all CBs with 13 pressures. Steve Spagnuolo has done an amazing job blitzing his DBs (McDuffie 3rd in DB blitzes)
P.J. Locke (DEN) @ HOU
- Kareem Jackson is still suspended.
- Locke was DB9 in his replacement last week.
- Houston should control the clock, leading to a heavy snap count for Locke.
Ji’Ayir Brown (SF) @ PHI
- Has incredible range if placed in single-high coverage.
- Should see 100% of the snaps against an Eagles team averaging the 5th most plays/drive
- Week 11 was proof of playmaking ability with three PDs and an INT.
Sit
Richie Grant (ATL) @ NYJ
- Diminished snaps in Week 12 could be a sign of things to come
- Poor in coverage, ranking 61st out of 64 qualifying safeties (min. 250 snaps)
- Demarcco Hellams is fighting for playing time with Grant.
Jonathan Owens (GB) v KC
- The return of Darnell Savage and Rudy Ford limit snaps.
- Similar to his time with Houston, Owens can excel with a full workload but will have a tough time getting on the field with Savage and Ford healthy.
Elijah Molden (TEN) v IND
- K’Von Wallace has seen his snap counts continue to rise
- Roger McCreary got in a limited practice, which would eliminate any chance at slot snaps for Molden
