Welcome to our IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 9 of the 2022 fantasy football season!
Unlike our Fantasy Football Starts & Sits on offense, given the broad range of IDP scoring settings available to people that can throw a player’s perceived value through a loop, for our IDP section, we’ll just be recommending to you players you should consider starting this week based on the potential for high statistical output and positional 1,2, or 3 relevance assuming you’re rolling three deep on your starting roster per positional designation. So sit back, relax and enjoy our IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 9!
Defensive Backs
START: Damar Hamlin versus The New York Jets
Damar Hamlin earned a 74.1 PFF grade against the Steelers with 84.9 Run D grade and 84.6 tackling grade.

Here is an example of why. Damar is FANTASTIC in run support.
Nice team defense here Elam keeps contain and takes on his blocker, Taron/Milano play perfectly. #BillsMafia pic.twitter.com/n39aD1eVuS
Since taking over for Micah Hyde due to a season-ending injury, Damar Hamlin has averaged 8TT and 11.2 PPG, and has been the DB39 in total points scored just outside of DB3 range. This week his coverage skills will serve him well as he’ll be reading the eye of Jets QB Zach Wilson, who on the season has the second-highest turnover worthy play percentage amongst ALL QBs. He’s even the team-leading safety in run-stopping tackles on the season which helps to make his upside almost limitless this week. While low-end DB1 upside is possible, it is more than likely he jumps in to DB2 range this week.
Additional Starting Candidates: Jalen Ramsey vs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Geno Stone vs. The New Orleans Saints
Defensive Lineman
START: Joe Tryon-Shoyinka versus The Los Angeles Rams

This week Shoyinka will be lining up against an offensive line for the Rams, specifically LT Joseph Noteboom who has allowed 22 pressures, 5 sacks, and 8 QB hits on the season. In fact, when it comes to allowed pressures, LT has the largest percentage of responsibility in pressure forced on Matt Stafford among all members of their offensive line. Shoyinka is coming off of a 3 tackle, 1 sack, and 9.8 point performance versus the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson in Week 8. Look for him to eat again this week with high-end DL3 numbers.
Additional Starting Candidates: Uchenna Nwosu vs. The Arizona Cardinals and Trevis Gipson vs. The Miami Dolphins
Linebackers
START: Quay Walker versus The Detroit Lions
Big opportunity for Quay Walker coming up on Sunday… he'll have the green dot on his helmet for the first time!

Calling plays, handling the communication, adjustments to the line etc. is a huge responsibility for a rookie, & I believe that he will do a great job! #GoPackGo pic.twitter.com/n32LN8JhwW
With no De’Vondre Campbell starting this Sunday look for Walker to be THE PRESCENCE in the middle of that football field for the Green Bay Packers. Since Week 6, Walker has an astounding 24.6% tackle rate with a missed tackle rate of just 5.6%.
DAMN!
May God have mercy on any running back for the Detroit Lions’ soul on Sunday, because their respective asses will belong to Quay Walker this week.
Additional Starting Candidates: David Long Jr. vs. The Kansas City Chiefs and Jamin Davis vs. The Minnesota Vikings.
