Welcome to our IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 16 of the 2022 fantasy football season!
Unlike our Fantasy Football Starts & Sits on offense, given the broad range of IDP scoring settings available to people that can throw a player’s perceived value through a loop, for our IDP section, we’ll just be recommending to you players you should consider starting this week based on the potential for high statistical output and positional 1, 2, or 3 relevance assuming you’re rolling three deep on your starting roster per positional designation. So sit back, relax and enjoy our IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 16!
Defensive Backs
START: Jason Pinnock vs. The Minnesota Vikings
Since Week 13, Pinnock has had a tackle rate of 19% and missed tackle rate of ZERO PERCENT. Pinnock, who is a free safety, reminds me of Tracy Walker in that his role is to primarily play in coverage however, when looking back on his playing time over the past three weeks, he has played close to equal snaps in coverage versus in the box closer to the line of scrimmage. His coverage skills and time playing against the run should serve him well in a matchup versus the balanced offensive attack of the Vikings this weekend.
START: Kamren Curl/Jeremy Reaves versus The San Francisco 49ers
Kamren Curl had the correct matchup to go off last week but an ankle injury derailed that opportunity. That being the case if he is able to suit up for this weekend’s game against the run heavy 49ers team he should see plenty of tackle volume. In the event, he doesn’t play special teamer, who was selected to the Pro Bowl this year, Jeremy Reaves will look to fill in for Curl.
Additional Starting Candidates: Grant Delpit vs. The New Orleans Saints and Taylor Rapp vs. The Denver Broncos
Defensive Linemen/EDGE Rushers
START: Danielle Hunter versus The New York Giants
While severely underperforming from season’s past, Danielle Hunter has a fantastic matchup versus Evan Neal who has allowed to most pressures and sacks for the Giants all season. Look for this to a return to form game for Hunter and for him to deliver DL2 upside this week.
START: Matt Judon versus The Cincinnati Bengals
La’el Collins has been a huge liability in pass pro for the Bengals, allowing 33 pressures and 5 sacks on the season. Against the Patriots this week, Collins should surrender another couple of sacks to this Patriots’ defensive pass rush, with at least one of them going Judon’s way. Look for Judon to bounce back from last week’s performance this week.
Additional Starting Candidates: Jonathan Allen vs. The San Francisco 49ers and
Ogbonnia Okoronkwo vs. The Tennessee Titans
Linebackers
START: Jamin Davis versus The San Francisco 49ers
Among all linebackers their last three games played, Jamin Davis is the LB8 in solo tackles, per FantasyData.com. Since Week 13 he’s boasted an impressive 20.7% tackle rate and against a run-heavy 49ers offense, this linebacker has serious LB2 upside this week. Let this Washington player #TakeCommand of an LB spot for you this week.
START: Christian Kirksey vs. The Tennessee Titans
As friend of the brand, Colby Conway from FantasyAlarm, stated earlier in the year, “when in doubt always play linebackers facing the Titans.”
Why’s that? Because they’re going to have to try and slow down Derrick Henry. And now without their starting QB out for the rest of the season, the Titans should be even MORE run heavy which is great for linebacker Christian Kirksey who has been as consistent as they come in terms of tackling and FantasyPros point production since Week 9. Kirksey is coming off of back to back double-digit tackle performances and is sure to have another one this week!
Additional Starting Candidates: Germaine Pratt vs. The New England Patriots and Kaden Ellis vs. The Cleveland Browns
