IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 13
Welcome to our IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 13 of the 2022 fantasy football season!
Unlike our Fantasy Football Starts & Sits on offense, given the broad range of IDP scoring settings available to people that can throw a player’s perceived value through a loop, for our IDP section, we’ll just be recommending to you players you should consider starting this week based on the potential for high statistical output and positional 1, 2, or 3 relevance assuming you’re rolling three deep on your starting roster per positional designation. So sit back, relax and enjoy our IDP Fantasy Football Starts for Week 13!
Defensive Backs
START: DeAndre Houston-Carson versus The Green Bay Packers
In Week 12, Houston-Carson played 31% of his snaps from the box; a number that should increase this week with Jaquan Brisker declared out due to being in the concussion protocol. His six solo, three assisted, and one tackle for a loss was a helluva a way to have his first game of the season. This week against a run-heavy Packers team, look for Houston-Carson to keep up his positive momentum for FFIDP managers.
START: Jayron Kearse versus The Indianapolis Colts
Returning from an injury suffered on Thanksgiving, Kearse will be lining up primarily closer to the line of scrimmage to help against this suddenly resurgent Colts’ rushing attack. Since Week 9, Kearse has led all DBs in PPG with a 10.8 pt average, and against Jonathan Taylor this week, he and his 38% box snap percentage from the past month should help lead him to more fantasy success.
Additional Starting Candidates: Rudy Ford vs. The Chicago Bears and Keanu Neal vs. The New Orleans Saints
Defensive Linemen/EDGE Rushers
START: Marcus Davenport versus The Tampa Bay Buccanneers
Since Week 10, tackle Donovan Smith of the Bucs has allowed five total pressures and two sacks to Tom Brady. While Davenport hasn’t been the model of health this or any other season, the past few weeks, in a limited fashion, has posted a 23.7% win rate in true passing situations. This could be one of Davenport’s last good matchups for the rest of the season. Take advantage of it this week!
START: Jaelan Phillips versus The San Francisco 49ers

Much like Davenport listed above, Phillips has posted a fantastic win rate versus offensive linemen, with a percentage of 27.9. This week he gets right tackle of the 49ers Mike McGlinchey who has allowed five sacks on the season. McGlinchey, a fantastic zone blocker in the running game, is not the greatest pass blocker and is a pressure liability whenever he steps on the field. Look for Phillips to give you DL3 with DL2 upside this week!
Additional Starting Candidates: Dorrance Armstrong vs. The Indianapolis Colts and Frank Clark vs. The Cincinnati Bengals
Linebackers
START: Quay Walker versus The Chicago Bears
Since week 10, Quay has been in the Top 15 in PPG with a 15.4 pt average. Chicago is 11th in most points allowed to the ILB position. Quay is a volume tackler; he needs high volume to offset his low solo: assist tackle ratio. The Packers have allowed the most rushing yards to teams on the season which should help correct that for Quay, assuming De’Vondre Campbell doesn’t play this week.
START: Germaine Pratt versus The Kansas City Chiefs
Germaine Pratt is PFF’s highest graded defender since Week 9 — 93.0 😤

Since Week 9, Pratt has had the 7th highest run-stopping percentage in the NFL among linebackers. Since Week 10, he’s been averaging 11.5 fantasy PPG, which might not be Top 36 in that timeframe but is serviceable, which makes him a good LB3/FLEX option in Week 13 against a Chiefs team that is emphasizing the running game more and more each week.
Additional Starting Candidates: Jaylon Smith vs. The Washington Commanders and David Long Jr. vs. The Philadelphia Eagles
