Week 2 is here and I’m back to give you the lowdown on which of YOUR Fantasy Football Wide Receivers have matchups we should be looking to exploit to help win our own matchups this week!
A promising start in Week 1 as three of the four studs mentioned had good weeks, and the less said about Brandon Aiyuk the better! So, who are the pass-catchers we should be considering putting in our starting lineups based on their matchups in Week 2?
Read on and let me know YOUR opinion in the comments or over on Twitter!
Ja’Marr Chase – Cinncinatti Bengals
The rookie WR may have been the butt of many a joke during the preseason, but he certainly had the last laugh in Week 1, posting 101 yards and a TD on 5 receptions. (If you haven’t seen him put Patrick Peterson in a blender on a route yet the get on YouTube ASAP) Chase and the Bengals travel to the Windy City on Sunday to take on the 0-1 Bears, who, after Week 1 are dead last in Defensive coverage against receivers according to PFF, and looked like they were really missing Kyle Fuller’s coverage ability in their SNF loss to the Rams. I like Ja’Marr Chase to lead the Bengals’ WRs in receiving yards and receptions once again in Week 2.
Courtland Sutton – Denver Broncos
It may have been an unproductive outing in Week 1 for the former SMU pass-catcher as he caught a single pass for 14 yards in Denver’s win over the Giants on Sunday, but Week 2 could present a bigger and better opportunity for Sutton to make an impact. Sophomore WR Jerry Jeudy had seen a lot more of the ball, hauling in 6 of his 7 targets for over 70 yards before suffering a high ankle sprain that’ll keep him on the sidelines for an expected 6 weeks, clearly elevating Sutton to lone WR1 status on the Broncos offense. Sutton should see a sizeable jump on his 3 targets against the Giants as he and the Broncos travel to Duval to take on the Jags. Jacksonville grade comfortably inside the bottom 10 in PFF’s Defensive coverage against receivers metric as they were easily beaten by the Houston Texans. Sutton has precedent for big fantasy scoring against the Jags too, in his lone career outing vs Jacksonville he caught 6 of 9 targets for 62 yards and 2TDs, good enough for 21.2 points by FanDuel scoring. We’d happily take another return like that from Sutton on Sunday!

Antonio Brown – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tom Brady’s agelessness must be rubbing off on his Tampa Bay teammates, Rob Gronkowski at age 32 looks to be back to his best if Week 1 is anything to go by, and so does Antonio Brown, the 33-year-old was dominant in the opening day win over Dallas, outperforming both of his younger stud WR counterparts. AB caught 5 passes for over 120 yards and a score against the Cowboys and now gets to face an Atlanta defense destroyed by the Philadelphia Eagles, grading inside the bottom 10 in Defensive coverage against receivers after facing a rookie De’Vonta Smith and sophomore Jalen Reagor. So how they’re planning on holding up against AB, Mike Evans & Chris Godwin is anybody’s guess. AB also has previous dominant performances against the Atlanta Falcons in his career, posting three 100-yard games in four games, only posting a measly 93 yards in the odd game out, whilst scoring 5TDs in those 4 games.
Mike Williams – Los Angeles Chargers
The big-bodied receiver had a great Week 1 against Washington and looked like he’s improved during the offseason. Williams hauled in 8 of 12 targets for 82 yards and a score to help the Chargers get off to a winning start. Williams’ 12 targets were more than he got in any single game last season, as were his 8 receptions and against a Cowboys secondary that graded inside the bottom 10 in Defensive coverage against receivers in Week 1, I think we could see a similar stat-line and target share for Big Mike as the Cowboys focus their attention on stopping top wideout Keenan Allen.
