Every week this season, Fantasy In Frames is going to help you at the quarterback and tight end position by providing you with some of the best favorable matchups of the Week. This week, let’s discuss the favorable QB & TE Matchups for Week 9!
“A river never wants to turn into a lake! And a person who likes to flow like a river never wants to be something stagnant like a lake!” ― Mehmet Murat Ildan
For most fantasy football leagues, we only have six games left in the regular season! No matter your record now is the time to keep pushing full throttle to get another win. There are teams in your league that already gave up. You can go on a winning streak and earn a playoff spot. Once you are in the playoffs anything can happen, and you can win that coveted fantasy football championship trophy. There are bye weeks and injuries to navigate every week, so we continue to take advantage of matchups and stream QBs and TEs. Let’s keep flowing in the right direction and earn another win!
How Did We Do?
For the season we have recommended streaming a QB1 41% of the time, and for Week 8 we did okay going 1 for 2, and the miss was Daniel Jones being the QB13.
For the season, we have recommended streaming a TE1 40% and a TE2 60% of the time, and for Week 8 we were 2 for 3 for TE1!
Week 9 Bye Week Teams (impacted QBs and TEs): Detroit Lions (TE TJ Hockenson), Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (QB Tom Brady; TE Rob Gronkowski), Washington Football Team

Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 9
Tua Tagovailoa (vs HOU) – 44.9% rostered in ESPN:

Since Tua has returned from injury, he is the QB4 over the last 3 weeks, and that includes him playing poorly in a bad matchup against the Buffalo Bills last week. Now Tua has one of the best matchups this week, the Houston Texans. The Texans give up the 2nd most points in the NFL per game. Honestly, Tua has not looked amazing over the last 3 games, but he is scoring a lot of fantasy points and that is all we care about. Tua has scored at least 22.4 points in two of the last 3 weeks and averaged 22.4 ppg which was 6th best during that span. Tua is a combination of playing solid recently and having an amazing matchup, which is why he is a great steamer if he is available in your league.
Taysom Hill (vs ATL) – 6.3% rostered in ESPN:
Taysom Hill is part of the “Konami code QB club” because he is always a threat to score with his legs. However, this streamer comes with a caveat that Hill must clear the concussion protocol, but he is expected to clear and start this week since Winston tore his ACL in Week 8. In 2020 when Hill started in Weeks 11 through 14, he scored at least 18.5 points, and that was the crazy game versus Denver when they did not really play with a QB due to COVID protocols. If we exclude the Denver game because it was such a weird game script, then Hill averaged 252 passing yards, 55 rushing yards, and 2 total TDs per game. That stat line equates to 27.58 fantasy per game. It is important to note that Michael Thomas is out for the season and Hill highly targeted Thomas in 2020. However, Hill has incredible upside and could propel you to the playoffs, and if he flops this week then you just jump back in the stream in Week 10. Low risk and high reward streamers give you an incredible advantage in your league when they hit.
Tight Ends to Stream – Week 9
Pat Freiermuth (vs CHI) – 18.7% rostered in ESPN:
We can’t quit Freiermuth after he just finished as the TE3 in Week 8. Since JuJu Smith-Schuster went on season-ending IR, Freiermuth had 7 targets in both games. Over that span, he has the 7th highest target share for TEs (18.9%). Ben Roethlisberger can’t throw the ball downfield (6.7 yards/attempt), and that helps Freiermuth be 2nd on the team in targets since JuJu went on IR. Chicago is not an easy matchup for TEs, but as long as Freiermuth continues his strong target share then you should continue streaming him. It is futile to chase TDs when streaming TEs, but chasing targets gives you the best opportunity to pick a TE that will score a TD.
Dan Arnold (vs BUF) – 8.8% rostered in ESPN:
If you thought finishing as the TE3 was impressive, then Dan Arnold said, “hold my beer,” because he was the TE2 in PPR last week without scoring a TD. Arnold was 2nd on his team in targets (10) but led the team in receptions (8) and yards (68) in Week 8. Arnold has a terrible matchup this week against the Buffalo Bills (the 8th worst matchup for TEs giving up only 7.3 ppg). Over the last 3 games, Arnold has 23 targets (7.67 per game) and that is 3rd on the team behind Jones (25 targets) and Agnew (24 targets). Arnold is risky because of the horrendous matchup this week, but there are not many quality TE streamer options this week so if Freiermuth is not available then I will take my chances on Arnold.
