It is almost 2022 as we celebrate the New Year this weekend. Typically, people like to make resolutions, and a popular one is about health. People want to start working out to get in better shape or start a diet to have a healthier lifestyle. I started a diet and exercising a year ago before the holidays started. One year later, I am happy with my progress and I am proud of myself for being diligent and consistent. If you need additional support and motivation to keep you track after the first couple weeks of the New Year then I recommend using #FFFitClub on Twitter. There are a bunch of from the fantasy football community that post our fitness progress and ask/answer questions. It is a supportive and positive group, and sharing my progress daily helps me stay accountable to my goals and not slack off when I want to be lazy. No matter what your New Year’s resolution is just do what makes you happy.
Note: there have been a lot of COVID positive tests in the NFL this week, so pay attention to the news and be ready to pivot. The COVID protocols have changed so some players may come back in time to play in Week 17.
This week I am going to focus on a couple of key stats for each player to keep it quick and simple since we are down to the last two teams in each league. Now let’s do our best to win the championship!
How Did We Do?
For the season we have recommended streaming a QB1 39% of the time, and for Week 16 we missed the mark because Matt Ryan was the QB19, and Justin Fields and Tyler Huntley were both inactive due to injury/illness. However, I crushed the QB you should start because Joe Burrow was the QB1 with 500+ yards and 4 touchdowns, and he probably won you’re your semifinal matchup.
For the season, we have recommended streaming a TE1 43% and a TE2 65% of the time, and for Week 16 we were 2 for 3 for TE1. Evan Engram (7) continued the streak of the Eagles giving up a touchdown to TEs and Jared Cook finished as the TE12. Cole Kmet was solid as the TE16 but hasn’t scored a touchdown this season yet.
Quarterbacks to Stream – Week 17
Justin Fields (vs NYG) – 20.7% rostered in ESPN:
- Fields is the QB8 in fantasy points per game over his last 2 games (20.6) since he returned from injury
- During that 2 game span, averaged 8 rushes for 54.5 yards, and that many rush attempts give him a higher floor in fantasy
- If you need to stream a QB this week then you are looking for upside and a rushing quarterback provides more upside
- Note: Fields is questionable with an ankle injury, and he missed Week 16 due to this injury
Trey Lance (vs HOU) – 12.4% rostered in ESPN:

- Only started one game (Week 5), and Lance did not look great passing the ball (51.7% completion % and 1 INT)
- However, he had 16 rush attempts for 89 yards!
- Lance did not score a TD in Week 5 and still scored 14.58 fantasy points
- Trey Lance is the ultimate streamer to win your championship. There is plenty of risk, but if you need a lot of upside to win your matchup then stream Trey Lance and go for glory
- Note: As of Wednesday night, Lance has not been named the starting QB yet, but Jimmy Garoppolo has a significant throwing hand injury
Tight Ends to Stream – Week 17
Cole Kmet (vs NYG) – 38.5% rostered in ESPN:
- Kmet is averaging 7.4 targets per game over last 5 games with at least 5 receptions in all of those games
- Has not scored a TD this season, but is 2nd on the team in target share (18.7%) so the opportunity for regression to score is there
- The Giants defense has given up a touchdown to a tight end in two of the last three games
Gerald Everett (vs DET) – 18.5% rostered in ESPN:

- Everett is 3rd on the team in target share (13.1%) behind Metcalf and Lockett
- Over the last 3 games: 10 receptions on 11 targets (13.3% target share) and 2 TDs, and 60 and 68 receiving yards for the last 2 games
- The Lions defense has given up 15.47 fantasy points to the TE position over the last 6 games
