Welcome to our Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 9 of the 2022 fantasy football season!
We are one week away from the double-digits of the NFL season, and the stakes are getting higher and higher for fantasy managers who are neck and neck with their league mates. The way players are underperforming in fantasy this season, compared to other season, you REALLY need to start players that are going to HIT and sit the players with the potential to FADE. It’s a good thing you’ve come to read my Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 9. Get you some knowledge and make those adjustments to your lineups!
Quarterback
START: Justin Fields versus The Miami Dolphins

Over the past three weeks Justin Fields has been the number two QB in total fantasy points scored and number 3 in PPG with a 23.3 pts average. His 230 yards rushing and 2 TDs on the ground during that time has certainly helped his fantasy output and this week he takes on a Dolphins team that has allowed the 7th most fantasy points to opposing QBs on the season. Roll with the “cheat code” this week.
Additional Start Candidates: Geno Smith vs. The Arizona Cardinals and Aaron Rodgers vs. The Detroit Lions
SIT: Jared Goff versus The Green Bay Packers
The Packers allow the second fewest passing yards to opposing teams on the season, Jared Goff just lost T.J. Hockenson via trade with the Vikings, and Green Bay’s pass-rushing unit, which ranks 8th in the NFL, per PFF, takes on the 27 best pass-blocking unit in the NFL. Not exactly a recipe for success this week. Look elsewhere for a streaming option.
Additional Sit Candidates: P.J. Walker vs. The Cincinnati Bengals and Tom Brady vs. The Los Angeles Rams
Running Backs
START: Khalil Herbert versus The Miami Dolphins
Should Khalil Herbert be starting over David Montgomery? pic.twitter.com/9Sblj9rKkn
— RunYourPool (@RunYourPool_) October 30, 2022
Versus the Patriots two weeks ago, who ranked 31st in pts allowed to a RB, Khalil Herbert put up 15.2 points on 87 yards and a TD. Last week versus Dallas, who allows the third fewest amount of points to the RB position, Herbert posted 15.9 points on 99 yards and a TD. This week the Bears take on a Dolphins team that ranks 4th in run defense, per PFF.
Are you still going to run away from the matchup for Herbert or are you going to take the leap and believe in the talent. I believe you should do the latter.
Additional Start Candidates: Antonio Gibson vs. The Minnesota Vikings and AJ Dillon vs. The Detroit Lions
SIT: Clyde Edwards-Helaire versus The Tennessee Titans
The CEH momentum from the first four weeks into the season has come to a screeching halt as he hasn’t amounted double-digit half-PPR points over the past three weeks. While the Titans present the 4th easiest matchups for running backs in terms of PPG output, via Fantasy Pros, with the emergence of Isiah Pacheco as a starting option for the team you can safely fade CEH this week.
Additional Sit Candidates: Darrell Henderson Jr. vs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Gus Edwards/Kenyan Drake vs. The New Orleans Saints
Wide Receivers
START: Romeo Doubs versus The Detroit Lions
Romeo Doubs is HIM 😳🔥 pic.twitter.com/DJxZfgGP4o
— NFL Rookie Watch (@NFLRookieWatxh) October 31, 2022
Doubs has a fantastic opportunity versus this Lions secondary which ranks dead last in the NFL in coverage. With questions marks surrounding the health of Allen Lazard and the trust that’s starting to building between Doubs and Rodgers, this matchup has the makings of career high game for the young rookie.
Additional Starts Candidates: Tyler Lockett vs. The Arizona Cardinals and Terry McLaurin vs. The Minnesota Vikings
SIT: Jakobi Myers versus The Indianapolis Colts
If you don’t think the former Patriots, now Colts cornerback doesn’t want to send a message to his old team on Sunday by shutting down their top receiver, of course, I’m talking about Stephon Gilmore taking on Jakobi Meyers, then you are out of your mind. Despite the last-minute heroics of Terry McLaurin in Week 8, Gilmore, for most of the game, had Terry on lock. Make no mistake, Jakobi Myers is no Terry McLaurin. Fade him this week.
Additional Sit Candidates: Gabriel Davis vs. The New York Jets and D.J. Moore vs. The Cincinnati Bengals
Tight Ends
START: Gerald Everett versus The Arizona Cardinals
Justin Herbert delivers an 18-yard TD strike to Gerald Everett!

TARGETS! TARGETS! TARGETS!
Gerald Everett, in 5 out of 7 games has been targeted in this Chargers offense at a minimum of 6 times. In those matchups he has averaged 8.4 pts. That might not sound like much but that average would have him as the TE10 on the season. Facing a Falcons team that is allowing 12.5 ppg to the position Everett has plenty of upside for you this week!
Additional Starts Candidates: Evan Engram vs. The Las Vegas Raiders and Zach Ertz vs. The Seattle Seahawks
SIT: Tyler Conklin versus The Buffalo Bills
The Bills have been fantastic at shutting down opposing tight ends this season. I’m not trusting Zach Wilson to break that curse this week.
Additional Sit Candidates: Tyler Higbee vs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Mike Gesicki vs. The Chicago Bears.
