Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 3

Week 3 Starts and Sits Fantasy In Frames 2022

Welcome to our Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 3 of the 2022 fantasy football season!

Here are my Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 3!

Quarterbacks

START: Jared Goff versus The Minnesota Vikings

Jared Goff is coming off of four touchdown performance against the Commanders and now turns his attention to the Vikings who were lit up by the Eagles on Monday Night Football. The Vikings are a middle of the road rated defense according to Pro Football Focus that are allowing 5th most passing yards per game to opposing teams on the season. Look for this to be pass-heavy affair between both teams making Goff a fantastic play this week!

Additional Starting Candidates: Jimmy Garoppolo versus The Denver Broncos, Cooper Rush versus The New York Giants, and Matthew Stafford versus The Arizona Cardinals

SIT: Carson Wentz versus The Philadelphia Eagles

Did you see what the Eagles defense did to a, on paper, decent Vikings offensive line on Monday Night Football? Look for the pressure to get to Wentz all day. Sure he might uncork a deep ball and make Terry “F1” or Dotson or Samuel have a big day, but you shouldn’t count on Wentz to deliver a close to 30pt performance this week!

Additional Sitting Candidates: Baker Mayfield versus The New Orleans Saints, Ryan Tannehill versus The Las Vegas Raiders, and Matt Ryan versus The Kansas City Chiefs

Running Backs

START: Clyde Edwards-Helaire vs. Indianapolis Colts

CEH….who knew, right?!

Well, I kind of did back in Week 1, but let’s focus on the present. This week Edwards-Helarie aka the RB5 on the season in half-PPR will face Colts defense that might be decent at defending against the run, but they are horrible in coverage meaning CEH should have a big day out of the backfield in the receiving game. Look for his hot streak as your RB2 to continue this week!

Additional Starting Candidates: Devin Singletary versus The Miami Dolphins & Kareem Hunt versus The Pittsburgh Steelers.

SIT: Rhamandre Stevenson versus The Baltimore Ravens

While Baltimore has been more susceptible to running backs in the receiving game, volume is king in fantasy football and when it comes to that it’s Damien Harris for New England that should see the bulk of that volume as a rusher and a receiver. Sorry, Stevenson truthers.

Additional Sitting Candidates: Cam Akers versus The Arizona Cardinals and Melvin Gordon versus The San Francisco 49ers

Wide Receivers

START: Curtis Samuel versus The Philadelphia Eagles

I said on our pregame show last week that I needed to see more from Samuel in Week 2 before I gave my full endorsement as a weekly fantasy starter. Back to back weeks with at least 9 targets and double-digit fantasy points later I’m sold.

This week against Philly, Wentz will have to dump the ball off quickly and often, and with Avonte Maddox in coverage Samuel should certainly provide WR2 value this week!

Additional Starting Candidates: Brandon Aiyuk versus The Denver Broncos, Tyler Lockett versus The Atlanta Falcons, and Garrett Wilson versus The Cincinnati Bengals

SIT: JuJu Smith-Schuester vs. The Indianapolis Colts

The Colts haven’t been great in defending the receiving game this season, but unless your name is Travis Kelece or Clyde Edwards-Helaire find another receiving target for your FLEX spot this week.

Additional Sitting Candidates: Devonta Smith versus The Washington Commanders and Adam Thielen versus The Detroit Lions.

Tight Ends

START: Irv Smith versus The Detroit Lions

The Lions are giving up the 10th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends, and after seeing Smith receive 8 targets last week, look for that trend to continue in this shootout of a game this week.

Additional Starting Candidates: Logan Thomas versus The Philadelphia Eagles, Hayden Hurst versus The New York Jets, and Gerald Everett versus The Jacksonville Jaguars

SIT: Albert Okwuegbunam versus The San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are allowing opposing tight ends 1.6 fantasy points per game on the season. I hate to say it but Abert O just isn’t going to be a thing this week.

Additional Sitting Candidates: Robert Tonyan versus The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mike Gesicki versus The Buffalo Bills, and Hunter Henry versus The Baltimore Ravens.
