We are two weeks into the college football season, and things are getting interesting. Some players looked great at the start of the season, while others took a week to get going.
Let’s look at some players that might be available in your CFF leagues on Fantrax going into Week 3 and how you can use them in your lineups.
Feel free to hit me up, Justin Taylor, with any questions about any of your College Fantasy Football Leagues.
Here are my College Fantasy Football Week 3 Waiver Adds!
QUARTERBACKS
Kyle McCord, Syracuse – Rostered in 44% of Fantrax Leagues.
Ohio State ran him out of town after a one loss season, but of course that loss came to hated Michigan. You would think Kyle McCord was a bum if you read Buckeye message boards. But that has been anything but the case at Syracuse.
If you didn’t pick up McCord after his big Week 1 performance against Ohio, you better hurry and get him now after he lit up Georgia Tech in Week 2. McCord has thrown for over 350 yards and four touchdowns in both games this season leading him to a top 10 fantasy QB so far this year.
McCord is 59 for 85 passing for 735 yards with eight TDs and only one interception so far this season. The Syracuse offense is humming and should keep it up for the majority of the year. Syracuse is on a Bye in Week 3, but that isn’t stopping me from grabbing him up now.
Brandon Lewis, Nevada – Rostered in 15% of Fantrax Leagues
The Wolfpack have put out good CFF-producing quarterbacks in recent years, but it’s usually because of volume passing. Brandon Lewis is a different story. The fourth-year QB has piled up 561 yards passing and five TDs while also tacking on 208 yards rushing on 44 carries with one TD.
Lewis has rushed for over 97, 77, and 34 yards rushing in three games. He also has at least two touchdowns per game.
Nevada has some tough matchups coming up, but the schedule at the end of the year could set up nicely if your QB room has late season bye weeks.
Billy Edwards, Maryland – Rostered in 5% of Fantrax Leagues
The Terps’ new QB has been better than we thought to start the season. He has been productive and efficient. He has completed 46 of 61 passes (75.4%) for 564 yards with four TDs and one interception. He also has 11 carries for 52 yards and one TD.
The schedule for the Terps isn’t really difficult over the next few weeks. Still on the schedule are Virginia, Villanova, Indiana, and Northwestern in four of the next five weeks. The end of the schedule is brutal though, so only pick up Edwards if you can use him in the coming weeks as a bye week fill in or in an advantageous matchup.
RUNNING BACKS
Jamious Griffin, Oregon State – Rostered in 46% of Fantrax Leagues
When Damien Martinez transferred to Miami this offseason, the RB1 spot for the Beavers was available to claim. Jamious Griffin seems to have claimed it.
He has 38 carries for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season. He has also caught four passes for 20 yards.
Oregon State should continue to pound the rock the rest of the season, giving Griffin some nice upside.
Henry Parrish Jr, Ole Miss – Rostered in 39% of Fantrax Leagues
It has been a mess all offseason to figure out who would be the starting RB for the Ole Miss offense with star Quinshon Judkins heading to Ohio State.
The Rebels love to play up-tempo and run the football to complement a dynamic passing attack. Henry Parrish is intriguing after piling up 165 yards on 14 carries with four touchdowns in a blowout of Middle Tennessee State.
He had just eight carries for 40 yards in the opening game blowout of Furman.
Parrish could bust, but I’m leaning that he will have more games like Week 2 than Week 1. I’m grabbing him in case he can keep the job and thrive in one of the nation’s best offenses.
Treon Sibley, Liberty – Rostered in 37% of Fantrax Leagues
Listed as a RB/WR designation on Fantrax, Sibley is now the top WR target for star QB Kaidon Salter. Sibley has been fantastic the first two weeks of the season. He has five receptions for over 100 yards in each game so far with a total of 10 catches for 264 yards and one TD.
This Liberty team has an extremely weak schedule and should continue to roll up the points this season. They haven’t even really hit their stride yet offensively, which really gets me excited for what Sibley can do, especially with his duel eligibility.
WIDE RECEIVERS
Trebor Pena, Syracuse – Rostered in 38% of Fantrax Leagues
Why not pair QB Kyle McCord and Trebor Pena together for a nice stack? I certainly am. Pena has 166 yards receiving on 12 catches with four TDs, and also has a rushing TD as the Orange’s slot WR.
This Syracuse offense is starting to look dangerous. Pena has been as consistent as you can get. He has six catches in each game, with 78 and 88 yards receiving and two touchdowns in each game.
Pounce on him now as the clear-cut number two option in the Syracuse passing game.
Mac Dalena, Fresno State – Rostered in 18% of Fantrax Leagues
The Bulldogs were expected to be good on offense this season. The big question was who would be the top target among this group?
Well, senior Mac Dalena has definitely made a statement for being the top guy after exploding for seven catches for 235 yards and one TD against Sacramento State in Week 2. While he probably won’t have an explosion like this again this season, he should be in the mix for constant targets.
Dalena saw eight targets with six receptions for 67 yards in the season opener at Michigan. Dalena is making me a believer.
Donovan Green, Wake Forest – Rostered in 27% of Fantrax Leagues
The Deamon Deacons have been known for producing some top-tier CFF WR talent the last couple of seasons. Donovan Green was a name being thrown around last season, before injuries derailed him.
He looks to be the top guy for Wake Forest this year. In Week 2 against Virginia, he caught 11 passes on 16 targets for 166 yards and one TD.
He didn’t have a huge Week 1 versus NC State, but he still caught three of four targets for 72 yards and one TD.
Green should be the man moving forward for Wake Forest against a relatively easy ACC schedule.
TIGHT ENDS
Gunner Helm, Texas – Rostered in 20% of Fantrax Leagues
Gunner Helm was not the tight end people were expecting to crush for the Longhorns this season, but his monster game against Michigan has put him on the map. Helm caught seven passes for 98 yards and one TD against the Wolverines.
This Texas passing game is going to keep rolling with QB Quinn Ewers under center. Helm should continue to see work for the rest of the season.
Tyler Warren, Penn St – Rostered in 58% of Fantrax Leagues
Penn State has put out a ton of tight end talent the last decade. The Nittany Lions know how to get top talent drafted in the NFL, even though that hasn’t always meant production at the college level.
Warren looks to reverse that trend this season. He looks like a legitimate weapon for QB Drew Allar.
In the season opener against West Virginia, Warren caught three passes for 30 yards and one TD. In Week 2 against Bowling Green, he blew-up with eight catches for 146 yards.
Penn State needs offensive weapons in the passing game, and Warren should stay a main target all season.
Alex Bauman, Tulane – Rostered in 15% of Fantrax Leagues
If you are desperate for any production at the tight end position, there is some hope with Alex Bauman. While he has been extremely touchdown-dependent, he is at least giving you those at the moment.
Bauman has four catches for 75 yards on the year, but he does have three touchdowns. He saw six targets in a close loss to Kansas State last week, which means his QB is at least looking his way on a semi-regular basis.
Let’s hope the volume catches up to the touchdowns.
