Another week of NFL action is in the books and with it comes new storylines for us fantasy football fans to get excited about. Let’s just get right down to business, shall we?! Here are my 4-EYED OBSERVATIONS from Week 4 that might help you this season in terms of picking up/trading for players that might not only help you in winning your upcoming week’s matchup but a potential championship in the process!
4-EYED OBSERVATION #1
Averaging 20 fantasy points per game, Blake Bortles is picking right back where he left off at the end of last season from a fantasy football perspective. Coming off a 388-yard 2TD performance against the Jets Bortles heads to Kansas City in week 5 facing a defense giving up 328.5 passing yards per game to opponents. Look for Bortles to continue his passing magic this week!
4-EYED OBSERVATION #2
Kerryon Johnson has scored double-digit fantasy points now in back to back weeks on limited touches averaging 5.7 yards per carry. While all this seems fine and dandy, head coach Matt Patricia has stated recently they don’t plan on increasing his workload. That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement for the best running back on his team. Until that changes fantasy managers should hesitate inserting Johnson into their starting lineups or at the very least inserting him as a flex option only despite facing a Packers team ranked 15th against the run giving up 107.8 yards per game on the ground
4-EYED OBSERVATION #3
I mentioned him last week and I’ll do it again. Calvin. Ridley. Is. Legit. Averaging 17.8 fantasy points per game in 0.5 PPR leagues.
Many a fantasy analyst have said since his two TD performance on Sunday that fantasy managers should sell high on Ridley as his TD pace will eventually regress and his lack of targets will come back to bite fantasy managers in the butt.
I disagree. Instead, I view Ridley as the next Will Fuller as in a wide receiver who will always have a high TD scoring floor because of the other wide receiver on the other side of the field, in this case, Julio Jones. As long as Julio is there to demand double-coverage, Ridley will always provide you with TD upside. Save him. Flex him. And reap the rewards.
By the way, the Steelers are allowing 304.8 passing yards per game to opponents.
4-EYED OBSERVATION #4
Bobby Wagner has been one of the most disappointing IDP linebackers this season. Averaging only 6.5 fantasy points per game, according to the FANTASY IN FRAMES’ IDP scoring rubric,
Wagner’s lack of scoring performance has been quite the conundrum. One would think teams with bad offenses would have their defenses on the field longer thus allowing for more tackling opportunities for an all-pro linebacker like Bobby Wagner but alas that has not turned out to be the case so far.
However, do not lose hope. The Seahawks offense isn’t likely to get any better any time soon which means Wagner’s productivity or lack thereof should correct itself. I hope.
