The New York Jets Sign Justin Fields: 2025 Fantasy Football Implications

Another big quarterback domino has fallen in the NFL, as Justin Fields has decided to sign with the New York Jets on a two-year, $40 million deal.
After the team moved on from Aaron Rodgers, it was clear that the Jets desperately needed a new quarterback for 2025 under new head coach Aaron Glenn. Glenn chose Fields, as bringing the young signal caller in looks to be a promising move. In today’s discussion, we will explore how this move affects the Jets offense fantasy-wise in 2025.
Let us start with Justin Fields himself, as that is what fantasy managers will be most intrigued by. In ten games with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024, Fields averaged 12.1 fantasy points per game, displaying his upside across a relatively small sample size. The young signal caller is widely regarded as one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL, which is very good for fantasy managers, as rushing quarterbacks have historically been big fantasy producers. Fields will also have a very good supporting cast in terms of weapons in New York in 2025, so his 2025 fantasy outlook is pretty promising. If I were someone who wanted to wait on quarterbacks in drafts next year, I would happily take Justin Fields in the later rounds with no hesitation. He is a prime candidate for that scenario.
This move obviously affects New York’s pass game weapons as well, as these players will be the ones catching the ball from Justin Fields weekly. The player that benefits the most from this change at quarterback is star wide receiver Garrett Wilson, as the young pass catcher reunites with his former college quarterback at Ohio State. You know Fields and Wilson will have great chemistry with one another immediately. But that is not all, as Garrett Wilson is the only fantasy-relevant pass catcher in this offense right now. Breece Hall is not often used as a pass catcher out of the backfield, Davante Adams was released, Allen Lazard will likely be cut, and the team has not re-signed Tyler Conklin yet. So this leaves Garrett Wilson and nobody else for fantasy purposes in the Jets’ offense for 2025. Fantasy managers should be extremely high on Garrett Wilson for 2025, and in dynasty, there might not be a bigger buy high candidate than Wilson right now.
Now we move to Breece Hall, as this outlook is a bit more complicated. In 2024, Hall averaged 15.2 fantasy points per game, which was a disappointing number for the young running back considering where fantasy managers were drafting him last summer. Whether it was because of poor play at quarterback from Aaron Rodgers or poor coaching/playcalling, Breece Hall did not meet expectations fantasy-wise in 2024. However, because of this down year, fantasy managers should view Hall as a prime fantasy football bounce back candidate in 2025. Everyone should still be relatively high on Breece Hall for next season, and should have no issues with drafting him once again. With the presence of Justin Fields, the talented young running back should see wide open rushing lanes in this offense, as defenses will be so worried about preventing Fields from taking off and will forget about the running back. Breece Hall should also have a high touchdown total in this offense next year, as Justin Fields is more of a scrambler at quarterback than a battering ram at the goal line.
