Here we go! We are rolling into the new 2024 fantasy football season. Here at Fantasy in Frames, we’re looking at some dynasty targets and the best values out there on the market. Let’s take a look at 2024 Dynasty Target: Jaylen Warren.
Player Overview
The Pittsburgh Steelers have an interesting upcoming season for them. After some major off-season moves, including trading for not one but two quarterbacks, they look to get back to their glory days when they were one of the top offenses in the league.
Jaylen Warren, who on paper is a backup running back to starter Najee Harris, had a fantastic sophomore campaign. He’s a smaller back but was especially productive with the Steelers in 2023. He is a year younger than Harris and still on a rookie contract, which makes him appealing to dynasty managers.
Player Summary
Jaylen Warren, who on paper is a backup running back to starter Najee Harris, had a fantastic sophomore campaign. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry to Harris’ 4.1 yards. Yes, yes, they were used differently throughout the season, but Warren’s production in the passing game has pushed his ADP for the off-season much higher than expected.
Warren had a total of 61 receptions for 370 yards. His 61 receptions rank 5th overall among all running backs, behind the likes of Breece Hall, Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffrey, and Rashaad White. His receiving yards rank him within the top 15.
Warren truly shines as a receiver, but he is also a true power running back. He ranked third among all running backs in yards after contact and second overall in missed tackles. When given the moment, he’s a small, shifty back, will shine in the offense.
Trade Value
The Dynasty League Football (DLF) trade analyzer has Warren going for a late second-round rookie pick, specifically the 2.12 pick. According to current ADP, that pick would be Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright.
I love where Warren is going in drafts right now, especially given his potential. Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has already said Warren will be a feature in the Steelers’ new offense. While this may be coach speak, the Steelers have already shown they are willing to put Warren into that role.
Warren’s trade value seems fair for his current role. But after this year, the value could skyrocket. With the Steelers not extending Najee Harris’s fifth-year option, Warren could be the Steelers RB1 in 2025. If you’re looking to acquire Warren for the future, try to get him in 2024, even though his value is low.
