What is up, my fellow deviant dynasty players? It’s your boy Chris Burns, aka Dynasty Deviant, who is back with another rookie profile for the Fantasy In Frames rookie profile series.
The dynasty fantasy football community is eagerly preparing for the start of the NFL season, and this player has had a rollercoaster of an offseason leading up to this point.
Drake Maye, the University of North Carolina quarterback, is today’s profile target. Let’s learn a little bit more about Mr. Maye, shall we?
Player Overview
During his time at UNC, Maye has impressed scouts and analysts with his exceptional skill set, establishing himself as one of the most intriguing prospects in recent memory.
In his breakout season, Maye took charge of the Tar Heels’ offense and quickly became the focal point of their game plan. His ability to read defenses, make quick decisions, and deliver accurate throws under pressure was evident in every game.
Maye showed poise and leadership as he consistently earned accolades and recognition from the media and coaching staff.
His ability to elevate his teammates’ play and lead crucial drives in critical moments displayed his intangibles, making him a well-rounded quarterback prospect.
Rookie Summary
Maye had a productive career at UNC, where he put up impressive numbers his last two seasons despite not having much talent to throw to. If you squint just right, Maye reminds you of Josh Allen because of his big arm, size, and running abilities.
Maye might not be as polished as you would want, but the talent he has is undeniable. He will be fun to watch.
Fantasy Value
The fantasy outlook for Drake Maye has a wide range of outcomes. Maye has joined the New England Patriots, who are in the unique position of having a new head coach who isn’t worried about his job.
If Maye is not ready to go early, the team can easily put Jacoby Brissett in the starting lineup and give the rookie ample time before putting him under pressure. Conversely, Maye can start day one and build a rapport with the new wide receivers that New England drafted.
I see Maye getting the starting job later in the season after sitting behind Jacoby Brissett for the first 4 – 6 games.
However, When he takes the starting job, the New England offense has so many question marks. Because of that, I don’t see Maye being more than a QB3 this season, but one to roster because the potential will be there next season!
