IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 4 (2023)
Welcome to our fourth IDP Start & Sit article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!
Hey everyone, it’s Nate Marcum (@natemarcum on Twitter/X). Whether you’re newer to IDP or have been playing for years, my goal of these starts and sits is to provide you with stud picks I’m a huge fan of each week, from your top-tier players to play in your shallow leagues down to deeper league options. However, with the good picks come the ones I am less high on that you should consider alternatives for each week. You can check out my back-to-back Top 10 Fantasy Pros ECR Competition rankings here at Fantasy In Frames weekly to help give you the winning edge to your weekly matchups! Here are my IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 4 (2023).
Starts
Harrison Phillips (MIN) v Car
- Leads all DL in tackles
- Has the potential to add in a sack to his high tackle floor in prime matchup.
- Phillips should line up against Chandler Zavala, who just received a 0.00 pass-block rating per PFF after allowing 14 pressures!
Jonathan Greenard (HOU) v Pitt
- If you’re looking for a deep DL play, Greenard should fill the bill.
- Will go unnoticed as a result of low pressure rate, but has been all around QB when releasing the ball.
- Coming off of a three pressure performance vs Jax
- Will line up opposite LT Dan Moore. Dan Moore is PFFs lowest graded T in the NFL.
Josh Sweat (PHI) v Wash
- Washington has allowed most sacks to QB (19)
- Josh Sweat has good history vs WSH
- Over past 5 games vs WSH, Sweat has 16 tackles, 4 TFL, 4.5 sacks for an average of 9.44/gm (Fantasy Pros scoring).
- His 9.44/gm would be good for the DL6 in 2023 scoring to date.
Sit
Montez Sweat (WSH) v Phi
- Came out the gate like gangbusters with three sacks in first two weeks.
- Last week vs Buffalo demonstrated potential low tackle floor (1solo)
- Eagles O-line poses huge threat.
- Lane Johnson hasn’t allowed a sack yet, and he has only allowed six pressures.
- De’Andre Swift has really shifted focus to a heavy run attack
Carl Granderson (NO) v TB
- Matchup vs Triston Wirfs is less than ideal.
- Sack or bust type of option (as most DL)
- Baker Mayfield only sacked three times on the season
Start
Kyzir White (ARI) v SF
- 12th in tackles
- 13th in tackles for loss
- SF allowing an average of 18 tackles per game to the ILB
- White’s 5.3 average depth of tackle evident that DL is leaving plenty of tackle opportunities
Drue Tranquill (KC) v NYJ
- Nick Bolton ruled out, so another start for Tranquill
- Jets’ lack of passing attack should lead to a rushing attack to try and keep the Chiefs offense on the sidelines.
- Last week, Tranquill paced the Chiefs with 25% tackle rate on run-plays.
Kaden Elliss (ATL) v Jax
- 12th most blitzes among LB
- No Troy Anderson to compete for tackles
- Jacksonville has allowed 23 tackles on average to LBs in 2023.
Sit
Robert Spillane (LV) v LAC
- Chargers have been extremely stingy to opposing LB, allowing no more than 12 points to any LB in 2023 (per FantasyPros scoring)
- Limited tackle opportunities vs LAC and Divine Deablo eating into volume moves Spillane down my list
Blake Cashman (HOU) v PIT
- Don’t be fooled by last weeks’ 18 point performance.
- Split duties with Christian Harris behind To’oTo’o
- Harris could easily outplay, thus, outsnap Cashman
Start
Reed Blankenship (PHI) v WSH
- Leads Eagles in tackles, despite only playing in two games.
- Has finished as the DB8 and the DB17 in his two starts
- Flashes with a 12.3% tackle rate on passing plays
- Washington has been turnover prone (22%) and Blankenship already has 1 INT and 3 PDs
Jayron Kearse (DAL) v NE
- 12th most box snaps among S
- New England has allowed the DB17, DB11, and DB19 in each of their first three games.
- Kearse is Top 3 among S in lowest passer rating when targeted (35.8%)
Justin Reid (KC) v NYJ
- Has played at least 35% of snaps in box in every game.
- Leads Chiefs in solo tackles
- The Jets have targeted the slot WR in 30% of pass attempts. Reid should benefit from the slot targets as well as the elevated run game
Sit
La’Jarius Sneed (KC) v NYJ
- Only 2 box snaps over past two weeks combined.
- Settling into exclusive outside corner role
- Jets haven’t allowed double-digit scoring to any CB they have faced on the season
Christian Gonzalez (NE) v DAL
- Volatility at CB is always a concern
- Patriots should attack opposite side of field as Gonzales is proving to be an elite shut-down CB
