IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 3 (2023)
Welcome to our third IDP Start & Sit article at Fantasy In Frames for the 2023 fantasy football season!
Hey everyone, it’s Nate Marcum (@natemarcum on Twitter/X). Whether you’re newer to IDP or have been playing for years, my goal of these starts and sits is to provide you with stud picks I’m a huge fan of each week, from your top-tier players to play in your shallow leagues down to deeper league options. However, with the good picks come the ones I am less high on that you should consider alternatives for each week. You can check out my back-to-back Top 10 Fantasy Pros ECR Competition rankings here at Fantasy In Frames weekly to help give you the winning edge to your weekly matchups! Here are my IDP Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 3 (2023).
Starts
George Karlaftis (KC) v CHI
- 7th most pass-rush snaps among Edge/OLBs in the NFL
- High-motor and relentless attack
- Bears allowing a league-high 43% pressure rate on the season
- Top 15 among DL with eight run-play tackles
- Chicago RT Darnell Wright has allowed the 12th most pressures among T
- Bears’ RG, Nate Davis has allowed a league-high 17.3% pressure rate on passing plays (worst rate among Guards)
Jaelan Phillips (MIA) v DEN
- Back-to-back practices to start the week removing doubts of another missed game
- Since 2022, Phillips has the “quickest time to pressure” at 2.48 second (per Next Gen Stats)
- Denver RT, Mike McGlinchey, has allowed the 2nd most pressures in the NFL. Allowing a 14% pressure rate through two weeks.
DeForest Buckner (IND) v BAL
- Baltimore looks to be without starting two starting offensive-lineman. C Tyler Linderbaum and LT Ronnie Stanley
- Buckner played an unsuspecting 62% of his snaps lined up over or outside the tackle.
- Injuries throughout the RB room could lean towards a more pass-happy attack
George Karlaftis (KC) v CHI
- 7th most pass-rush snaps among Edge/OLBs in the NFL
- High-motor and relentless attack
- Bears allowing a league-high 43% pressure rate on the season
- Top 15 among DL with eight run-play tackles
- Chicago RT Darnell Wright has allowed the 12th most pressures among T
- Bears’ RG, Nate Davis has allowed a league-high 17.3% pressure rate on passing plays (worst rate among Guards)
Sit
Haason Reddick (PHI) v TB
- Quite the enigma, with only an assisted tackle and a QB hit on the season.
- The floodgates could open at any time for the talented Edge rusher, but matchup vs. TB. Luke Goedeke has only allowed two pressures, and that includes a matchup against Danielle Hunter
Dennis Gardeck (ARI) v DAL
- Love the start he has had to the season, but don’t be fooled by the three sacks on four pressures.
- Dallas LT, Tyron Smith, has allowed only one pressure on the season and is PFFs 2nd highest graded tackle.
Start
Frankie Luvu (CAR) v SEA
- 1st among LBs with 21 pass-rush snaps
- Seattle will be without both starting tackles for the second consecutive game
- A shallow LB room in Carolina will lead to an elevated tackle floor for Luvu
- 1 of only 6 players with >10 tackles and >2 sacks
Henry To’oTo’o (HOU) v Jac
- It looks likely that Denzel Perryman will miss Week 3 with a hand/wrist injury
- To’oTo’o has seen snaps increase each week
- 14.7% tackle rate
- Jacksonville allowed the 3rd most points to opposing LB through the first two weeks.
Drue Tranquill (KC) v CHI
- Signs are pointing to Bolton being inactive for Sunday’s game
- Tranquill recorded four tackles in limited action in Week 2.
- 147 tackles, 10 TFL, 5.5 sacks, 1 INT in 2022
Sit
Shaq Leonard (IND) v BAL
- Appears to be in a rotation with EJ Speed
- Baltimore matchup could be very enticing, but it’s all systems go for Zaire Franklin, and a “buyer-beware” for Leonard.
David Long (MIA) v DEN
- Last weeks’ rebound game was a by-product of a Jaelan Phillips-less defense.
- Too inconsistant with snap share to be trusted
Start
K’Von Wallace (ARI) v DAL
- Fills the Buddha Baker role in Arizona
- Wallace played 100% of the snaps, with an astonishing 72% coming in the box or on the DL.
- Wallace led the Cardinals in tackles in Week 2
- Dallas has kept opposing defenses on the field for an average of 73 snaps/gm
Tracy Walker III (DET) v ATL
- Injury to C.J. Gardner-Johnson thrusts Walker III back into a SS role.
- Atlanta has allowed 15 tackles to opposing SS through first two games
- Granted it was 2021, but Walker III was 5th among S in run-play tackling. There should be plenty of opportunities to demonstrate against this Falcon rush-attack.
Alontae Taylor (NO) v GB
- Exclusively for the CB position leagues
- Taylor has been a boom-or-bust type of slot corner to begin the season, with near interceptions in each game
- Leads NFL with 20 targets, allowing 16 receptions
- Jordan Love leads NFL in off-target % throws and is 6th in turnover-worthy throws.
- Without Christian Watson, Jayden Reed is becoming his preferred target. Jayden Reed runs out of the slot on 72% of snaps.
Sit
Nick Scott (CIN) v LAR
- Left week 2 with injury
- Monday Night Football leaves some doubt
