Player Overview
Pacheco started the year as a relatively unknown seventh-round draft pick and ended it by raising the Lombardi trophy following a Super Bowl win over the Eagles. Sounds like a Disney movie if I’ve ever heard one.
Player Summary
Pacheco finished as the sixteenth overall running back in yards and in a three-way tie for average yards per attempt (five) with Rhamondre Stevenson and Nick Chubb. Overall, he rushed for 1,027 yards and six touchdowns. He was also used in the receiving game to the tune of 195 yards. He led his team in rushing and it wasn’t even close. Jerrick McKinnon only rushed for 350 yards last season and was Pacheco’s closest competition.
Fantasy Summary
The Chiefs’ revamped offensive line and the fact that no one new was either drafted or added through free agency should point to Pacheco having another stellar year in both fantasy and on the field. One thing fantasy managers may want to be aware of though is that McKinnon did eventually re-sign with the team. After scoring ten touchdowns to Pacheco’s six, there could be cause for slight concern with Pacheco’s touchdown production this season. Regardless, he’s in line to stay as the number one backfield option for Patrick Mahomes. Being THE guy in an elite offense, plus his success last season, tells me the sky is the limit for Isiah Pacheco.
If you drafted him last year on your dynasty team, you received tremendous value for where you likely took him. Don’t be afraid to hang on to him this season as your RB2. However, if your team is in need of a boost, maybe you could dangle him in front of your running back needy league mates to get more draft capital heading into this season. Whichever you decide, Pacheco will definitely be a benefit to your team.
