IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 11

Welcome to our Week 11 IDP Waiver Wire article this season!

Look at you!  Despite the plethora of players on BYES, injured or recently traded, you have survived another week of Fantasy Football.  While the bumps and bruises may have hurt, they will get better, as will your fantasy lineup.  

As I look back at my Week 10 suggestions, I can’t help but wonder, “What is going on with Blake Martinez?” Undoubtedly, his retirement caught the IDP community off guard, especially considering he was a top Waiver Wire Add for me. It wasn’t just Blake Martinez that had an effect on our IDP rosters, but players like Myles Jack, Denzel Perryman, Malcolm Rodriguez, and others that were late scratches that left us scrambling. While it wasn’t all bad, Week 10 also taught us that we must stay diligent on the Waiver Wire!

I can’t help but look back at last week’s suggestions and hope we have as much success in Week 11!

Now, as I say every week, while the true roster % of IDP leagues is difficult to tabulate, I will do my best to ensure we are ahead of the curve. So without further adieu, let’s get down to our IDP Waiver Wire Adds for Week 11!

Defensive Line/Edge Rusher

Jonathan Allen

I feel like I am cheating by taking an interior lineman facing the Houston Texans. Specifically, an interior lineman primarily in the A and B gap on the Rt side. For the 3rd straight week, an elite pass-rushing interior lineman will face the dangerously bad duo of Kenyan Green and Scott Quessenberry.

On the season, Allen ranks Top 10 in pressures, win rate%, solo tackles, and tackles for loss among DL. If the Houston Texan’s likelihood to run the ball is a concern, Allen is 13th among DL with 21 solo run-play tackles and 2nd in stop%. The big man can get to the QB, stop the run, and provide a solid floor, all the while giving us a DL1 upside!

Chandler Jones (Las Vegas Raiders)

Forgive me while I wince at this suggestion, considering how poorly Chandler Jones has played on the season. This is not necessarily a suggestion for the “rest of the season,” but this upcoming matchup vs. the Broncos. While it’s hard to tell if Jones or the Broncos have been bigger disappointments, I believe there is a true upside this week for Jones.

The Broncos entrusted Russell Wilson’s blindside to Calvin Anderson and Dalton Risner. These two attributed 13 of the 24 pressures forced by the Titans, actually just Denico Autry! Despite Jones’ poor pass-rush numbers through the first ten weeks, I like this matchup on paper.

I am also intrigued to see if the addition of Jerry Tillery will help provide some additional attention away from Jones.

Jerry Hughes (Houston Texans)

I am a little disappointed with myself that it took me so long to buy into the Jerry Hughes hype. That said, if Hughes has duped your league mates as he has done me, this is an excellent week to pick him up.

This suggestion isn’t just a result of his four sacks over the past three games or his eight sacks on the season. While the previous sentence is enough reason for him to be rostered in every league, the matchup against the Commanders gives me Jerry Hughes fever.

As long as the Commanders have a turnstile offensive line, I will suggest at least one pass-rusher on the opposing team. It may seem cheap and easy, but at least I am consistent.

Honorable Mention or Previously Mentioned:

David Ojabo (Baltimore Ravens)-Should start getting his feet wet and could return solid value. Hard to envision a heavy workload, but has all the tools to take a “wait and see” approach

Javon Hargrave (Philadelphia Eagles)- All this man does is contribute. 28 tackles, six sacks, and 5 TFLs over his past three games.

Linebackers

Jayon Brown

With Martinez’s retirement and Denzel Perryman sitting out in Week 10, Jayon Brown was huge for the Raiders with 100% of the snaps and the Green Dot. Brown turned those snaps into eight tackles and a fumble recovery. While Perryman is expected to return, it is a good sign that the Raiders felt “comfortable” giving Brown that type of workload.

Brown appeared in my “chasing upside” article and is not set to have an every-down role for Las Vegas. It’s funny how fast things can change in the NFL.

Jack Sanborn (Chicago Bears)

Was an honorable mention last week and has graduated to full-blown “add” this week. Coming off of the seven solo tackle performance in Week 9, Sanborn saw another heavy workload and turned it into 12 tackles, two sacks, and two tackles for loss.

Sanborn and the Falcons will travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons’ rushing attack. Last week, the Falcons were generous in handing out 23 tackles to the Panthers’ linebackers. I expect both Sanborn and fellow LB Nicholas Morrow to have solid weeks.

Honorable Mention or Previously Mentioned:

Sione Takitaki (Cleveland Browns)- Back-to-back solid outings for Takitaki. Browns will face the Bills in Week 11, who have been the 6th most generous to opposing LBs over the past month.

Isaiah McDuffie (Green Bay Packers)- His 12 tackles led the Packers in Week 10. While it’s yet to be determined if Campbell will return in Week 11, McDuffie has earned playing time when available. If Campbell is out, McDuffie is a fantastic start against the Titans.

Defensive Back

Dane Belton (New York Giants)

I am going back-to-back weeks with Belton as a pickup because of the questions I had leading up to Week 10. There was uncertainty about what position and alignment Belton and Julian Love would have with McKinney. Week 10 had shown me that the Giants appear to be comfortable with Love in a Free Safety role and Belton playing at or near the line of scrimmage. Belton played 100% of the snaps in Week 10, with 63% in the box!

The Giants will travel to Detroit to face the Lions in Week 11, which is a good matchup on paper for opposing safeties. On the season, the Lions have surrendered the 4th most points to safeties.

While Belton isn’t likely to give us weekly DB1 upside, he does have the situation to be a solid DB3/DB4 during these BYE weeks.

Kerby Joseph (Detroit Lions)

First of all, Happy Birthday, Kerby Joseph!

If it feels like I am recycling last week’s article, that isn’t entirely true. Yes, both Belton and Kerby Joseph were mentioned, but things changed in Week 10 to afford me the benefit of reiterating my sentiments.

Joseph followed up Week 9’s NFC Defensive Player of the Week with another solid performance in Week 10. Obviously not to the level of Week 9, Joseph played 100% of the snaps and had seven tackles.

P.J. Williams (New Orleans Saints)

The return of P.J. Williams was a big one for the Saints. Not only does he fill the void left by Marcus Maye, but his Free Safety ability allows others to be put into a more dynamic role. Williams stepped in and had a huge Week 10, totaling 11 tackles and one QB hurry.

I realize that the output was most likely a result of the 84 snaps the Saints played on defense, but if you are in a league with multiple DB positions, Williams could be a “splash play” away from DB2 upside.

Honorable Mention and Previously Mentioned:

Damar Hamlin (Buffalo Bills)– Continues to lead all DBs in tackles over the past three weeks.

Nick Scott (Los Angeles Rams)- Playing 100% of the snaps, and the Rams have been allowing long drives and showing no signs of offense. With the guaranteed snaps and many of them, Scott has shown signs of IDP life. Averaging 12.3 fppg over past two weeks (DB10)
