Welcome to our Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 8 of the 2022 fantasy football season!
Better late than never, I’ve finally completed my Fantasy Football Starts & Sits for Week 8! Do me a favor, look this over, then look at your lineups, make the appropriate changes, and then either praise me or roast me this coming week after it’s all said and done. I run away from no critique and accept all praise. LOL.
With all that said, let us get down to business!
Quarterback
START: Kirk Cousins versus The Arizona Cardinals
Back from his bye week, Kirk Cousins welcomes the fully loaded offense of the Arizona Cardinals to town. The Cardinals, on the season, are allowing an average 20.3 PPG to the position. With the lack of a potent pass rush, 4th worst according to PFF, the Cardinals should not pose any threat to giving Cousins a hard time on Sunday.
Additional Start Candidates: Tua Tagovaoiloa vs. The Detroit Lions, Jared Goff vs. The Miami Dolphins, and Davis Mills vs. The Tennessee Titans
SIT: Aaron Rodgers versus The Buffalo Bills
No viable receiving options, an anemic running game, and this week he goes to Buffalo, who have the second-best pass rush in the NFL, and is coming off of a bye week equals trouble for this Green Bay team and Aaron Rodgers’ fantasy performance this week.
Additional Sit Candidates: Jimmy Garopollo vs. The Los Angles Rams, Jacoby Brissett vs. The Cincinnati Bengals, and Trevor Lawrence vs. The Denver Broncos
Running Backs
START: Raheem Mostert versus The Detroit Lions
Raheem Mostert has had 15+ touches in each of the last three weeks 📈pic.twitter.com/DCDNq99ZAE
— PFN Fantasy Football (@PFNFantasy) October 20, 2022
Over the past three weeks, Mostert has the 7th most forced missed tackles among all running backs, has the 6th most yards after contact, and has averaged the 12th most fantasy points per game at the position. This week he faces a Lions’ defense that has allowed the second most fantasy points to opposing running backs on the season and the 5th most rushing yards to opposing teams. Fire him up!
Additional Start Candidates: Tony Pollard vs. The Chicago Bears, James Conner vs. The Minnesota Vikings, and Melvin Gordon vs. The Jacksonville Jaguars
SIT: David Montgomery versus The Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have been very successful in playing against the run this season, holding opposing running backs to the lowest PPG average of any other team. Combine that fact with the fact Dallas is tops in the NFL at rushing the passer they’ll look to make the Bears very one-dimensional.
Additional Sit Candidates: James Robinson vs. The New England Patriots, AJ Dillon versus The Buffalo Bills, and Gus Edwards vs. The Tampa Bay Buccanneers
Wide Receivers
START: Brandin Cooks versus The Tennessee Titans
No Nico Collins firing the portion of practice open to the media.

But Brandin Cooks is back, getting it in. pic.twitter.com/jfKa9EKMo3
Both top cornerbacks for the Titans are allowing an NFL QB Passer Rating when targeted of 113.4 and 128.5, respectively. The Titans are allowing 36.3 fantasy points per game to the position on the season. With Nico Collins likely done for the season and tight end Brevin Jordan being an utter disappointment this season look for Cooks to absorb the bulk of the target share and light up the Titans this week.
Additional Starts Candidates: Mack Wilson vs. The New Orleans Saints, Drake London vs. The Carolina Panthers, and D.J. Moore vs. The Atlanta Falcons
SIT: Terry McLaurin versus The Indianapolis Colts
One of the best-rated cornerbacks in the NFL, Stephon Gilmore, is allowing an NFL passer rating when targeted of 72.7 (not good). Gilmore is known for traveling across the field, following opposing team’s best receiving options. This week that receiving option is Terry “F1” McLaurin. I would fade McLaurin’s upside this week.
Additional Sit Candidates: Christian Kirk vs. The Denver Broncos, Michael Gallup versus The Chicago Bears, and Amari Cooper vs. The Cincinnati Bengals
Tight Ends
START: Mike Gesicki versus The Detroit Lions
When the Miami passing game is going well, it’s about Hill and Waddle.

But the fact he has two straight 7-target gms puts him on the TE12-15 map.
Detroit has allowed 13 PPG to the tight end position on the season, safety DeShon Elliott has allowed a catch % of 71 percent, coverage linebacker Alex Anzalone is allowing an NFL QB Passer Rating when targeted of close to 100, and cornerbacks for the Lions have been allowing the most fantasy points to opposing team’s receiving options on the year. All signs point to a good game for Gesiciki this week!
Additional Starts Candidates: Irv Smith Jr vs. Arizona Cardinals and Zach Ertz vs. The Minnesota Vikings
SIT: Robert Tonyan versus The Buffalo Bills
The only “reliable’ receiving option will still have trouble getting catches and yardage against these safeties and coverage linebackers for Buffalo. You can stream better this week!
Additional Sit Candidate: Dalton Schultz vs. The Chicago Bears and Dallas Goedert vs. The Pittsburgh Steelers
