Trevis Gipson (CHI) v Houston Texans-ECR DL52

It may be a small sample size (27 snaps), but Trevis Gipson has been terrorizing opposing QBs. His eight pressures (per PFF) rank in the Top 22, and his 30% win rate on true-pass sets is also inside the Top 36. This week the Bears will host the Houston Texans, who have allowed a pass-rusher to record double-digit sacks in their first two games. While the lack of snaps is concerning, it should only be a matter of time before he overtakes Muhammed.

Jonas Griffith (DEN) v San Francisco 49ers-ECR LB70

Despite Griffith’s playing time dropping from Week 1 to Week 2, I have this “hunch” that he is in line for the most snaps of the season. Well, maybe it’s not as much of a hunch as an “educated guess.” The Broncos will face the 49ers in what could be considered a revenge game narrative for Griffith. While narratives don’t always drive production, they help build a case for upside. With Griffith excelling in coverage, the Broncos would be wise to have more sub-packages utilizing his skills. A healthy(ish) George Kittle and a seemingly more pass-happy Jimmy G-led offense all would point me in Griffith’s direction. I can see a solid day for Jonas with an increase in snaps, assuming his 11% tackle rate carries over!

Camryn Bynum (MIN) v Detroit Lions-ECR DB62

With each missed practice due to a concussion, it appears Harrison Smith will miss this meeting with the Lions. Replacing Harrison Smith will be virtually impossible, but it does mean that there should be an opportunity for another FS to step up in his place. While there may be some talk about Lewis Cine, I believe he and Josh Metellus will split snaps and Bynum will get the full workload. Despite playing in Smith’s shadow, Bynum has been solid with back-to-back weeks of 7+ tackles. The matchup this week with the Lions is solid on paper, with the ability to get past the 2nd line of defense and setting Bynum up for another 7+ tackle week.
