Each week Fantasy In Frames is highlighting key wide receiver matchups to take advantage of. Here are four favorable wide receiver matchups for Week 14
A so-so Week 13 for us as 50% of our picks hit double-digit hauls, whilst the other half didn’t score a full point between them! With this being the last week before the FF playoffs get here for most leagues, we’re going to do our best to give you four WRs to start based on their matchup this week and help you propel your FF team into the playoffs!
Courtland Sutton – Denver Broncos
The big-bodied former SMU man has been an afterthought in the Broncos passing attack as of late, with no more than two receptions in a single game since the week seven game against Cleveland. His lack of use has been surprising, as in the three games where Sutton has double-digit targets, he has a combined stat line of 24/373/2. All three of these games came against defenses that grade in the bottom half for ‘Defensive Coverage Vs Receivers’, according to PFF, and that bodes well when you consider Denver face a Detroit Lions defense that grades dead last in that metric.
Tre’Quan Smith – New Orleans Saints
Saints pass-catcher Tre’Quan Smith may have only started three games this season, but those three games have come in New Orleans last four and has at least seven targets in those starts. This week he’ll face a New York Jets defense that grades 31st in ‘Defensive Coverage Vs Receivers’, according to PFF, and if you’re rostering Smith, this is likely his last startable fixture this year. It’s now or never for the 4th year WR to help your FF team in 2021.
Tyler Lockett – Seattle Seahawks
Veteran Seahawk pass-catcher Tyler Lockett has impressed since the return of Russell Wilson. In his last three outings, Lockett has double-digit fantasy hauls in FanDuel scoring and now faces a Texans defense that grades inside the bottom-3 for ‘Defensive Coverage Vs Receivers’, per PFF. I expect Lockett to achieve another double-digit haul in Week 14.
Julio Jones – Tennessee Titans
With A.J. Brown on IR, It’ll be up to returning veteran pass-catcher Julio Jones to carry the burden of the Titans passing offense in Week 14. The future Hall of Famer hasn’t featured since Week 9 and has only managed six games total for his new side in an injury-ravaged first year in Nashville. Julio has three straight practices under his belt and is expected to be designated to return from IR and start against a Jaguars side that grades firmly inside the bottom-10 in ‘Defensive Coverage Vs Receivers, per PFF. Jones has faced the Jaguars three times in his career to date and has a combined stat line of 24/369/2. Expect Ryan Tannehill to get Julio in the game early and often if he’s ready to go, and if he isn’t, teammate Nick Westbrook-Ikhine should be a startable option.
