Waiver Wire Targets for Week 10 (2021)

Waiver Wire Targets for Week 10 (2021)

Here we go with our Waiver Wire Targets for Week 10 for the 2021 fantasy football season. Find out who you should go after below!

Week 9 was by far one of the craziest weeks that I have witnessed in a very long time. As I mentioned in my IDP Waiver Wire article, the phrase "Any Given Sunday" couldn't have been more fitting.

For many teams, the writing is on the wall for their expectations of the season. This can obviously apply for teams destined for a playoff spot, and can also apply for those set to turn their attention to DFS or simply become just a fan of football again. *I write that last sentence in jest, as I hope that we, as fantasy players, can first and foremost be football fans, and not let our fantasy teams ruin the game we love*

As we enter the waiver period for Week 10, there are a few key areas to pay attention to:

BYE Weeks: NYG, HST, CHI, CIN

•Teams will be less aggressive on the waiver wire as they are eliminated.

As we jump into the Waiver Wire Targets for Week 10, I will use the 50% rostered threshold.

Quarterback Streamers

Ben Roethlisberger-Pittsburgh Steelers-27% rostered in Yahoo

While Big Ben is about as mobile as the real Big Ben, he was a little spry on Monday night. Despite the overall disappointing season (QB27), he does have some streaming value in Week 10. The Steelers host the Detroit Lions, who as of late (past 4 games) have allowed the 4th most points to QB's. Add in the fact that Ben has averaged 38 passing attempts at Heinz Field and you have the recipe for some upside.

Teddy Bridgewater-Denver Broncos-26% rostered in Yahoo

Bridgewater is more than anything, a game-manager for the Broncos. That isn't to say that Teddy B isn't worth streaming this week against the Eagles. For starters, the Eagles have been a little more generous to QB's over the past month (19.63 ppg). The Broncos are coming off of a huge win against the Cowboys and will look to have all of their offensive weapons in place.

Quarterback Waiver Add

Justin Fields-Chicago Bears-26% rostered in Yahoo

It may have taken a half of a season to finally see the Justin Fields that we had all hoped for, but I believe we are starting to see glimpses. Over the past 2 weeks, it appears that Fields is really settling in at QB, and it couldn't come at a better time for waiver wire scavengers. With the Bears on a Week 10 BYE, many fantasy managers are not likely to be prioritizing him. If you have the room, I suggest stashing him and playing for the rest of the season. After the BYE, he gets matchups against Bal, Det, Min, who all rank in the bottom 10 in fantasy points allowed to QB.

Running Backs

Eno Benjamin-Arizona Cardinals-1% rostered in Yahoo

With Chase Edmonds sidelined for the next few weeks, it is pretty safe to assume that Benjamin will start to see more carries going forward. He was a pre-season darling and is finally getting the praise from Kingsbury.  "This year he's like a different person, the work ethic, the focus. Any time he touches the ball he has a chance to do something special."

James Conner has been surprisingly healthy this season, but if he were to succumb to the injury bug, Benjamin would immediately slot in as an RB1 for the time being. The upside is pretty solid if we look at his 11 career 100-yd game in college, capped by his 312-yard performance against Oregon State.

Devonta Freeman-Baltimore Ravens-22% rostered in Yahoo

With Ty'Son Williams still an afterthought, and LaTavius Murray sidelined, Freeman is the best bet to lead the Ravens' backfield in touches and scoring. Don't let last weeks' goal-line touchdown by LeVeon Bell fool you, he isn't anything more than a game-script dependant goal-line back.

The Dolphins haven't been the most generous to opposing RB over the past month, but on the season they have been a little worse than the middle of the road. With Jacoby Brissett under center again, I look for the Ravens to control the game, and therefore the running attack, which could translate into double-digit touches and a low-end RB2/Flex play in Week 10.

D'Ernest Johnson-Cleveland Browns-41% rostered in Yahoo

With the recent news of both Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton being placed on the COVID-IR, Johnson is the single biggest beneficiary. If we go back to Week 7 vs the Broncos, Johnson played 71% of the rushing snaps and put up 22/146/1, and even chipped in 2 receptions for 22 yards.

This week the Browns get a difficult matchup against the Patriots. If we have learned anything about Belichek, it is that he will look to eliminate his opponent's biggest threat. What has to be determined is if that is the running game of Johnson or the limited passing attack. Either way, Johnson is a solid add since there are pretty much no threats to stolen carries.

That does it for our Waiver Wire Targets for Week 10!
