Set Your Lineups For Week 11

Hey #4EYEDfans,

3 weeks.

We have 3 weeks left before we get to the fantasy football playoffs!

With each passing week, the stakes get higher and higher. Each victory and each loss is magnified more and more. Ultimately, this is where a LOT of people’s seasons tend to fall apart. Why?! Overthinking. We put ourselves in these positions to grab the latest hot trend off of the waiver wire before our league mates do in order to hoard all the “great” talent available, preventing said talent from being used against us. The only problem with that strategy is most people, at that point, start getting cute with the talent on their roster and think they are so “wise” that they can outperform any opponent by putting any combination of talent on their starting roster and can still win. Don’t be that person.

Instead, if you’re going to acquire talent/depth at various positions, use those players responsibly. If there is a FLEX option on your bench that has a legitimate shot at outperforming a current starter, then by all means swap the bench player in and the starter out. HOWEVER, if you have a wide receiver, for example, that has been riding a hot streak, don’t insert them into your lineup just because one of your studs underproduced the previous week, a la Davante Adams of the Green Bay Packers last week when he didn’t get you 100+ yards receiving. More often than not, D.A. is going to get your that yardage in most games played. Don’t get cocky thinking you can do better than starting a player the caliber of Davante Adams.

That all being said, it’s hard to know when to pull the trigger on decisions like these. Fortunately, for you, we are always available on social media with the user name @FantasyInFrames and I’m personally at @JorgeBEdwards on Twitter. Feel free to drop your questions into my DMs and I’ll do my best to answer each and every one of you each week.

If you want more of the FRAMES crew to help with your lineup decisions, make sure to check us out, each Sunday, on our 4-EYED PREGAME SHOW on Facebook, Twitter, and Twitch at 11 am EST. Ask your questions during our live steam and will make sure to answer them LIVE on air!

LET’S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS!

Here is a list of teams that are on a bye this week:

  • Bills
  • Bears
  • 49er
  • Giants

Here are your 4-EYED STARTS & SITS For Week 11!

Quarterback

Derek Carr vs. Kansas City Chiefs: START

The last time Derek Carr faced the Chiefs he handed them their only loss on the season going 22 of 31 for 347 yards passing, 3TDs, 1 INT, and 25 fantasy points! The Chiefs rank as the 27th best pass-rushing unit in the NFL, the Raiders rank 19th best pass-blocking unit in the NFL. Carr is one of the most productive quarterbacks in the short to intermediate-range passing game (10-20 yards down the field). He only has an average depth of target of 8.0 yards which is great for sure-handed receiving options for the Raiders such as Darren Waller (aDOT of 6.34) & Hunter Renfrow (aDOT of 7.86). Even when he’s had to go downfield for 30+ yards passing whether it’s been Henry Ruggs or Nelson Agholar, Carr has displayed a quarterback rating of 78.4 which makes him one of the best downfield passers in the NFL, 10th overall with a completion percentage of 47.7%.

Knowing you have a QB on your roster who’s going to be following a negative game script AND has the tools and ability to orchestrate and pass-heavy offense for a majority of the game against these high-powered Chiefs should make fantasy managers excited this week to start Derek Carr.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Indianapolis Colts: SIT

The Colts give up the fewest fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks on average (14.8 points per game), the fewest passing yards per game (212.9 yards per game), and the second-fewest touchdowns per game (1.22 TDs per game). They are in the Top 12 in every major defensive category from pass rush to run blocking to coverage. The last time Aaron Rodgers faced an equally tough defensive matchup he posted 3.8 fantasy points. I don’t care that MVS and Allen Lazard are back. I do care that his number one receiving option in Davante Adams is suffering from an ankle injury, and I REALLY do care that his true number 2 receiving options/#1 running back option has only been able to muster 104 rushing yards over the past two weeks versus relatively easy fantasy matchups. FADE Mr. Discount Double-Check this week!

Running Back

Kallen Ballage vs. New York Jets: START

The tweet embedded here pretty much sums up Kalen Ballage’s usage as of late. He went from a snap % of 39.2% in Week 9 to 73% in Week 10. In his two most recent starts for the Chargers, he’s averaged 19.5 touches, 93 total yards, 0.5 TDs, & 14.05 fantasy points in 0.5 PPR scoring.

This week he faces a Jets team allowing 101.3 rushing yards & 23.7 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. FIRE UP BALLAGE for this REVENGE GAME this week!

Todd Gurley vs. Saints: SIT

Remember when I said earlier in the article to take someone out of your starting lineup for a bench player only if it were a justifiable move. How justifiable does sitting a running back averaging 2.62 yards per carry & 52.3 rushing yards per game over the past month sound? YES, his fantasy points per game during that time span (12.3 fppg) have been aided by him miraculously finding the end zone each week, but don’t expect that to continue this week.

The Saints are allowing only 67.9 rushing yards per game to opposing RBs. Without any usage in the receiving game look for Todd Gurley to be severely limited this week in this tough defensive matchup and for him to be a BUST in your fantasy lineups.

Wide Receiver

Corey Davis vs. Baltimore Ravens: START

In the last three games played it has been Corey Davis outplaying fellow Titans WR A.J. Brown for the Titans in yardage, completion %, receptions during that time span. With the Ravens, likely, looking to shut down A.J. Brown this week, look for Davis to keep his 0.5 and full PPR  floor high this week and for him to deliver you double-digit fantasy points on Sunday!

Brandin Cooks vs. New England Patriots: SIT

J.C. Jackson, a cornerback for the New England Patriots, has only allowed a QB passer rating of 68.8 on the season when targeted and has 5 INTS over the past five weeks. With Jackson playing at such a high level and likely to cover Brandin Cooks in this matchup look for Cooks struggle this week for Houston.

Tight End

Jared Cook vs. Atlanta Falcons: START

Taysom Hill is starting at QB for the Saints. An inexperienced QBs best receiving option always has been and always will be a tight end. Look for Jared Cook to be targeted a LOT when playing from behind in this pivotal NFC South showdown with the high-scoring Falcons.

Noah Fant vs. Miami Dolphins: SIT

While Drew Lock is slated to play at Quarterback there is no guarantee he finishes the game due to his own injuries. That would mean Brett Rypien would be slated to take over. Either way no matter how you slice it QB play is looking like it will be a little shaky this week for the Broncos. That isn’t exactly a good thing for a tight end in Noah Fant who often leaves games injured himself. Combine that with the fact that Dolphins safety Eric Rowe (who has played well in recent weeks) will likely be responsible for guarding Fant in coverage it looks like ALL parts of this Denver offense is a poor option to play this week. Fade Fant!

IDP CONTENT

As we do every week, when discussing IDP players we reference their fantasy point production using the FantasyPros IDP scoring rubric:

Linebackers

Eric Wilson vs. Dallas Cowboys: START

Even outperforming fellow linebacker teammate Eric Kendricks in terms of snap % on the field, Eric Wilson is basically the swiss army knife of this defense. Whether it’s from being a straight-up tackler to playing in coverage to rushing the QB, this linebacker is a fantastic IDP play week in and week out. Start him with confidence

Defensive Backs

Keanu Neal vs. New Orleans Saints: START

Versus a Saints team that is likely going to be playing catchup on offense and therefore throwing the ball a lot, Keanu Neal is going to be on the field a lot on Sunday. With Jared Cook projected to receive a good portion of the receiving work for the Saints, look for Neal to lineup against him and produce a decent tackle volume floor.

Defensive Linemen/Edge Rushers

Everson Griffen vs. Dallas Cowboys: START

REVENGE…..kind of.

The Cowboys, who acquired Everson Griffen earlier in the season, traded him to the Lions a few weeks ago. Does that really warrant a revenge narrative? I’m not sure.

Anyhow, Griffen is coming off of an impressive outing versus Washington last week where he boasted 3 total tackles and a sack and has been seeing an uptick in snap % in recent weeks. Look for that to continue versus a banged-up offensive line of the Dallas Cowboys. With fellow defensive lineman Romeo Okwara ALSO causing chaos on the other side of that defensive line, Griffen should see plenty of one-on-one opportunities on Sunday in which he should produce plenty of fantasy points at the DL position.

Thanks for reading, #4EYEDfans!

Good luck in Week 11!
