Quarterbacks
Teddy Bridgewater vs Chicago
Bridgewater made the article last week for his killer matchup against Atlanta. Since his rough Week 2 against Tampa Bay, Teddy has five touchdowns to just one interception. Only five quarterbacks have passed for more yards this season. This week, he, unfortunately, faces a Chicago defense that has only allowed four passing touchdowns on the season. Brady produced his second-lowest output of the season last week against Chicago. Only the Colts have allowed less FPPG to quarterbacks than the Bears 12.7. The Bears are only allowing 243.8 passing yards per game and Teddy Two Gloves has failed to reach that mark just once this season. Vegas has the O/U at 258.5 passing yards. Teddy B has his hands full trying to hit that over!
Joe Burrow vs Indianapolis
The Colts have racked up nine interceptions over the last four weeks and no team has more picks on the season! Baker passed for 247 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions last week against the Colts. That was the best performance by a quarterback against the Colts since Week 1 when Minshew absolutely torched the Colts for 173 yards and three touchdowns. The Colts have been the stingiest defense against quarterbacks only allowing 12.5 FPPG to the position. Colts are one of three teams yet to allow 1,000 passing yards to quarterbacks and both the Chargers and Ravens have held Burrow under 200 passing yards this season. Burrow has back to back games with interceptions and has only one touchdown over the last two weeks. I would not be surprised to see Joe with three straight weeks throwing a pick.
Matthew Stafford vs Jacksonville
The Jaguars have allowed the fifth-most passing yards to quarterbacks on the season and only three teams have allowed more passing touchdowns. Stafford has thrown a touchdown against every team except the Jags in his career. That stat changes this week! Lock Stafford in as a QB1 in Week 6 as he’s yet to score under 16 FPPG all year!
Running Backs
Alexander Mattison vs Atlanta
Dalvin Cook is injured and one of the top handcuffs in the league gets to take a shot at an Atlanta defense that has allowed six touchdowns to running backs this year. After Cooks’s injury last week, Mattison caught all three of his targets and the Falcons are allowing 8.6 receptions per game to opposing backs. Mattison has six games in his career in which he has double-digit touches. He’s totaled 50 plus scrimmage yards in each such game and that streak does not look to end this week!
Ram’s backfield vs San Fransisco
Do yourself the favor and keep this backfield out of lineups for the time being. This week they face off against a Niners defense that has allowed just 311 yards on the ground and just three touchdowns to running backs this season. San Fran allows just 14.9 FPPG to the position which is second-lowest in the league. Last week all three backs rushed for 30 or more yards but none topped 61 yards on the ground. Henderson led the way with 15 carries and 3 catches while Akers and Brown combined for 17 carries and a reception. Ravens, Rams, and Patriots backfields are just a headache and this certainly isn’t the matchup to dip your toes into.
Devin Singletary vs Kansas City
Singletary is coming off his worst week this year in which he posted just 25 yards on 11 carries. He has five or targets in three games this season but caught his only target in Week 5. Week 5 was the first time this season that Singletary failed to reach 50 scrimmage yards. Singletary looks to get back on track this week against a Chiefs defense that has allowed the most total yards to running backs this season. KC allows 182.6 scrimmage yards per game to opposing backs and have given up six receptions per game to the position. With Moss and his toe still in question, we should see a heavy dose of Singletary once again.
Wide Receivers
Justin Jefferson vs Atlanta
Justin Jefferson was my lone disappointment in last week’s article, so of course, I have to go right back to him. How could you not? Atlanta is one of three teams to allow over 1,000 receiving yards this season to wide receivers. The Falcons have allowed four touchdowns and are one of six teams to give up 70 plus receptions to the position. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Justin Jefferson is 11th in both receiving yards and yards after contact among wide receivers. JJ racked up over 300 yards in the last three weeks but has a lone red zone target on the season. Last week was the first time cousins topped 30 attempts and more than 20 completions this season. Vegas has this as the second-highest point total for Sunday’s games at 54.5, so expect both quarterbacks to be tossing the pigskin.
DeVante Parker vs New York Jets
Over the last four weeks, Parker has 22 catches and has 50 or more receiving yards in each of the four games. He is quietly on pace for another 1,000-yard season and gets a Jets defense this week that has allowed the fifth-most receiving yards to wide receivers. The Jets have given up four touchdowns on the season to the position to go along with 69 receptions. Parker has offered a solid floor this season and has serious upside in his Week 6 matchup.
Tight Ends
T.J. Hockenson vs Jacksonville
Hockenson has 50 plus yards or a touchdown in every game this season and now gets a matchup against the Jags who have allowed the third-most yards to tight ends this year. The Jags have given up four touchdowns to the position and are allowing 14.0 FPPG to the position. Week 4, T.J. made this piece for his matchup against the Saints and ended up in the endzone. Hockenson is slowly creeping into the TE1 discussion.
Austin Hooper vs Pittsburgh
Hooper is coming off back to back games with 5 receptions but faces a Steelers defense that has only allowed 13 catches to the position all season. The Steelers have conceded just one touchdown and let up just 7.3 FPPG to tight ends. Hooper actually has more receiving yards (153) on the season than the Steelers have allowed to tight ends (148).
Irv Smith Jr. vs Atlanta
Smith is coming off a career-high 64 receiving yards and could not ask for a better matchup heading into Week 6. The Falcons have allowed a league-worst seven touchdowns to the position. Irv Smith saw a season-high 68% snap share and out targeted Kyle Rudolph 5-2. This is definitely a dart throw, but the matchup begs to differ.
