4-Eyed Observations: Week 5
By: Jorge B. Edwards (@JorgeBEdwards)
Here are my “4-Eyed Observations” from this past weekend that might be of interest to you and for your fantasy teams going forward!
1) Deshaun Watson (QB- Houston Texans) and Alex Smith (QB-Kansas City Chiefs) are fantasy starters going forward.
As I stated Sunday Night:
For the spelling inclined that was meant to say,” Whiffed on both QB’s tonight …”. Watson showed he can put up solid fantasy points regardless of the opponent, and Alex Smith is a man on a mission by putting up quality stat lines every week so far this season. Barring injuries to themselves/their playmakers I see no reason why either of these two cannot be relied upon to be your starting QB going forward.
2) Stephen Hauschka (K-Buffalo Bills) needs to be picked up off waivers this week.
Currently owned in only 10.8 % of ESPN leagues, Hauschka has put up double-digit fantasy points over the past three weeks. With Charles Clay speculated to out of action after their bye week, Hauschka is looking more and more like one of the consistent fantasy players outside of Tyrod Taylor and LeSean McCoy to rely on in Buffalo. Pick him up while he’s on a bye before others catch on.
3) T.J. Watt (LB- Pittsburgh Steelers) is making his case for IDP relevance again.
He made quite the splash in week one, then got hurt in week two, was out week three, and came back week four for a modest outing. This past week you could tell that any ill effects from his injury have been erased as he was upping his solo tackle numbers from a week ago as well as gained another sack on the season. Now that he’s back to full strength look for numbers in those respective categories to increase! He’s currently owned in 19.9% of ESPN leagues. Go snatch him back up if you haven’t already!
4) Micah Hyde (S-Buffalo Bills) and Jordan Poyer (S-Buffalo Bills) are making quite the IDP pair in Buffalo’s secondary.
While all the buzz had been about Jordan Poyer earlier on in the season (31.8% owned in ESPN leagues), Micah Hyde (7.6% owned in ESPN leagues) is SERIOUSLY making a name for himself as he’s accumulated 13 total tackles and 3 INTs over the past two weeks ( 4 INTs on the season). He is always putting himself in positions to make big plays at the right time, and for those needing DB help in IDP leagues he AND Poyer are looking like they’re the tandem to have on your rosters going forward this season.
