4-EYED OBSERVATIONS FROM WEEK 3 (2018)

By @JorgeBEdwards

Another week of NFL action is in the books and with it comes new storylines for us fantasy football fans to get excited about. Let’s just get right down to business, shall we?! Here are my 4-EYED OBSERVATIONS from Week 3 that might help you this season in terms of picking up/trading for players that might not only help you in winning your upcoming week’s matchup but a potential championship in the process!

Fantasy Champs

4-EYED OBSERVATION # 1: Quarterback

Ryan Tannehill’s averaging 229 yds, 2.3 TDs, and 19.3 fantasy points per game this season. Facing NE next week will he keep this hot streak going? Depends on the health of the Pats secondary. If he does perform well he might be one of those players who graduates off of the waiver wire bench and gets added to your starting roster on a weekly basis for those in larger leagues and as a potential back up in smaller leagues.

4-EYED OBSERVATION #2: Running Back

Seattle finally had a running back go over 100 yards for the first time in two years. This past Sunday, Seattle’s abysmal offensive line started looking very much like their counterparts across the field from them, and if Mike Solari (new offensive line coach) can keep this group going in this direction the Seahawks offense might finally regain their identity as a successful power running team. And the primary beneficiary? Chris Carson!

Racking up 32 attempts, 2 receptions, 124 total yards, 1 TD, 19.4 fantasy points in 0.5 PPR leagues against the Cowboys, Carson is without a doubt the lead back on this offense and should be flexed on your team(s) going forward. However, if you wanted to wait a couple more weeks to do so, you know..just to see, I wouldn’t blame you.

4-EYED OBSERVATION #3: Receivers

In 0.5 PPR leagues, Calvin Ridley (37 pts), Mike Williams (23.1 pts), & Kenny Golladay (14.3 pts) put the league on notice Sunday that the NEXT GENERATION of wide receivers is HERE and isn’t going anywhere!

Ridley, the past two weeks, has averaged 25.9 fantasy points per game with an average of 5.5 receptions, 105 yards, and 2 TDs per game. The fact that opposing teams will have to double cover Julio Jones and the other side of the field puts Ridley in an excellent position to keep this torrid pace going all season.

The same argument can be made for second-year wide receiver Mike Williams. Averaging this season 14.5 fantasy points per game, 63 yards, & 3.7 receptions per game, Williams will likely face single coverage this season due to teams double covering Keenan Allen. That will translate into more consistent fantasy point production for Williams going forward.

Kenny Golladay’s situation is unique in that he doesn’t have some dominant all-pro wide receiver on the opposite side of the field drawing double coverage. Matthew Stafford really just trusts him to make plays and lets his fast, big-bodied wide receiver do just that. That seems like a similar dynamic Stafford had with another fast big-bodied wide receiver …. hmmm. If the connection with Golladay is anything like the one he had with THAT OTHER receiver Kenny G’s fantasy value should remain consistent all season long and for seasons to come.

4-EYED OBSERVATION #4: IDP

The COLTS are the new IDP factory in fantasy football circles so far this season. Darius Leonard (LB), Margus Hunt (DL), & Clayton Geathers (DB) have been playing lights out this season.

Using FANTASY IN FRAMES’ IDP scoring rubric, all three players have been averaging 16 pts, 8.3 pts, & 8 fantasy points respectively this season!

Leonard’s averaging of 13.7 total tackles, Hunt’s 3.7 tackles and 1 sack, & Geathers 10 total tackles this season are some of the best averages at each player’s respective position in IDP fantasy football.

Do yourself a huge favor. Pick all three up and plug them into your dedicated positional IDP spots this season. You won’t regret it!

Those are my 4-EYED OBSERVATIONS from Week 3!
